Last night was the first time, I had seen Toys in the Attic on Cowboy Bebop. And I'm very confused....
1.)Were the creators originally planning on ending the series with this episode? All of the characters die. And in the end of the episode instead of See ya Space Cowboy, it said The End.
2.)Are we led to believe that maybe they lived somehow? Since Spike set a course that the ship would land on Mars, maybe they were all cured on Mars somehow?
3.)Ed................ummm...did she get bitten or not???I only say this because at the end, she ummm......umm... eats the blob thingy that KILLED EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!WTF?
4.)What was the main purpose of this episode?

No, it was a gag by Ed.

Yes, they are still alive. Otherwise there wouldn't be a series.

Toys in the Attic is only the 11th Session of about 28 in the series. Cowboy Bebop is a very episodic series, so the events of one episode may or may not have any immediate effect on the plot of the next. As far as the "The End" at the end of the show, well, not all the episodes end with "See Ya, Space Cowboy."

26 episodes, not 28.

If you READ the responses by some people (not me though :b) then you would understand the episode. And Masamune2052 answered them perfectly I think.

What's not logical or sensible about the answers you've been given?
Were the creators originally planning on ending the series with this episode?
No.
All of the characters die.
No they don't. They're simply unconscious.
And in the end of the episode instead of See ya Space Cowboy, it said The End.
A gag. You can't believe everything you read. CB has a strange sense of humor that way.
Since Spike set a course that the ship would land on Mars, maybe they were all cured on Mars somehow?
Yes.
What was the main purpose of this episode?
Filler.
There you go. What's wrong with those answers?

Go here for the answer Answer to session 11 (http://rfblues.aaanime.net/Omake/Controversies/)
BIFIDOBACTERIUM...
So did our favorite bounty hunters parish from the poison in Session #11? What was that... thing?!
Well, when Spike was trying to identify it he cam upon a close match, it is just that he got the mirror image when trying to make the match. He identifies it as bifidobacterium, which is actually healthy for humans!

Ever see any Simpsons episodes called "Treehouse of Horror"? This is just Bebop's version.

well I had been meaning to ask a CB question, but since this one was here already I'll shoot:
how come some songs are repeated from No Disk to Vitaminless. I I had gotten NoDisk first I would have felt ripped off that Vless only has 8 songs and 2 of them were on the previous album

Dang, questions on my first and favorite ep of Bebop and I missed answering.
Anyway, my take is they were't really dead. They got better. Remember Spike set the ship to auto pilot, so I assume it landed and they recovered from the wounds and woke up. Ed was not bitten, Ed ate the damn thing. "Mmmm.. pudding (bean roll)." Unlike Treehouse of Horror I think this is in coninutity. Ed just has some fun telling us about the next episode.
Oh and what was the purpose of it all? There was at least one lesson. As Spike said, just don't leave thigns in the fridge.
Also, I loved the brilliant homages to the Alien movies and 2001: A Space Odessey. Plus Spike has the coolest lighting of a cigarette scene ever.
As for the Vitaminless question, yeah, it is one of the cheaper and short albums. I'm not sure about the repeated songs. Are they the same lengths or different versions or something?

I think the main point was to make everyone go, "Wow, what the hell was that?"
And it worked perfectly. :D
