What a great Christmas present that GAK and Cartoon Network gave us with this very special Toon Heads:Norm McCabe

*Indicates CN Premiere

Who's Who In The Zoo (computer colorized)

Daffy's Southern Exposure (computer colorized)

The Ducktators *

Gopher Goofy *

Hop And Go *

The best Toon Heads episode EVER.....

The final three b&w cartoons were very great looking prints and I tip my hat off to Cartoon Network.I hope that everyone had their vcrs running tonight.

All of the Norm McCabe cartoons featured on Toon Heads were totally uncut and uncensored......

My timer worked (YAY!), but I didn't know it was an hour. Now, all I have is some computer-colorized cartoons :( , and a half-version of "The Ducktators."

This won't air again, will it?

Was "Hop and Go" UNCUT??!!

Man, I can't believe I missed tonight's Toonheads! I just HAD to take that vacation to Florida!

Wow! A computer colorized "Daffy's Southern Exposure." I hope this means they'll start showing it that way more often instead of the redrawn version.

I agree 100%. What a GREAT episode. And it was one-hour, too! Wonderful!!

I hope everybody caught it!

I am sure glad I still had my VCR set to record one hour (sorry, dacp3 :( ).

I didn't know it was going to be an hour either :-( How long do you think it'll take to show again?

It probably won't be anytime soon. I don't think they've even replayed the one-hour "Frank Tashlin" Toonheads yet (which aired late last December). :(

One more thing, I just checked CN's site to see if the McCabe Toonheads was listed as being one-hour long (it was). I also noticed they listed "Here Today, Gone Tamale" (!) as airing as a Toon Extra following the show. I rushed to check my tape to see if it aired, and while the "Toon Extra" opening was shown, all we got were some lame "Ed, Edd, and Eddy" music videos.

Oh well, Speedy will be the subject of Toonheads soon!

:(( Well, would anyone who got it on tape want to trade? I have a lot on tape and I'm sure I could find something you want, even if its not cartoon-related. PM or email if you want to trade.

Sounds like a great show, too bad my timer was set for only half of it...:(

Oh well, I have EXCELLENT, FULL-TITLE PRINTS of the two B&W LOONEY TUNE cartoons that I didn't get from the show...;)

When the freak do these new Toonheads episodes air anyway? My Direct-TV Guide does not have Toon Heads listed ANYTIME! And it did not list Toon Heads ANYWHERE during all this week.

Boy, what a great show! I never expected Cartoon Network to air "The Ducktators"! Plus, I was beginning to think Gopher Goofy" and "Hop and Go" had become "lost cartoons"...but there they were, and what wonderful prints! Plus, we got a computer colorized "Southern Exposure"....never thought that would happen either.

Great job G.A.K., and Cartoon Network!

Cartoon Network Latin America doesn't air Toonheads (and LNB&W), this is why I sometimes wish I live in the U.S. :(

I figured this episode would be the same old line-up, so I wasn't gonna tape it - then I read Jerry's heads up in another thread. I set the VCR to record for 30 mins. Lucky for me, I was up late last night (watching "The Complete Goofy":D) and was able to get the whole show!

Now this is what an episode of Toonheads should be - rare cartoons (I've NEVER seen "Gopher Goofy"), uncut, using the best prints available (now that there's a computer-colorized "Daffy's Southern Exposure", I hope they BURN that old "pink-neck Daffy" print they usually run).

Kudos to our man GAK and CN!

See, it PAYS to loiter at the TTTP!

"Hop And Go" aired totally UNCUT....

The scene were the Kangaroo destroyed Tokyo with the dynamite was intact.Great cartoon, as this was my very first time seeing this cartoon. And yes! "The Ducktators" also aired uncut, complete with the war bond ending.I thought the B&W cartoons were wonderful prints that CN used for the episode.

I loved Pinto Colvig's Goofy voice for the Kangaroo in this cartoon, even with the little joke about Goofy..."A Goof"

I was unaware that the TOONHEADS show was 1 hr, and not 30 minutes. Thankfully I screwed up setting my VCR timer and ended up getting the entire show instead of just 30 minutes...

What a great show! I thought I'd never see "The Ducktators" broadcast on TV in my lifetime! It was also nice to see that CN has a computer-colored print of "Daffy's Southern Exposure" finally!!! I was distressed to see clips of "The Daffy Duckaroo" from the redrawn version, however...

For those who missed it, I do have it saved, so PM me if you'd like a copy... :D

Sounds like it would have been great. And what a great tribute to a long-ignored director!

They finally put aside the redrawn version of "Daffy's Southern Exposure," and even more important, they aired the long-avoided "Hop and Go" and "Gopher Goofy!" This was a great episode; thank you Cartoon Network! :)

I wonder if Cartoon Network would have aired this during daylight, with the wartime cartoon and other B&W cartoons. Late night might not be all bad. ;)

I was up at 3 in the morning, and I managed to record the whole episode. I was so thrilled to see the CC version of Daffy's Southern Exposure. The Ducktators came as a shock to see. I thought the episode was a half-hour. Good thing I kept recording. I was in the middle of Hop and Go, and the damn tape ended!!!!! Of all cartoons, it had to end at that! I WISH THEY RE-AIR THIS SPECIAL, AS WELL AS THE LOST CARTOONS SPECIAL!

But anyway, great job CN for the special. Ya did one heck of a job!

I managed to get all the cartoons, but I missed the introductory comments. What did they say? I got "and now, Who's Who at the Zoo"... and the entire episode the rest of the way. I guess my VCR clock is a minute or so off. I certainly would not have taped for an hour had they not been running Popeye Show episodes too...so to take the headache of when what's on away, I just tape that hour nightly. :D Eh...now I can replace my copies of several of these cartoons. "Hop and Go" was particularly handsome.

Gee... I wonder if Mr. McCabe himself saw the episode. If he did, I wonder what his reaction was to see those (now rare) cartoons he made in the 40s (this may be the first time "The Ducktators" airs complete on TV). Anyway, he should really be proud of his work, since he's probably one of the most underrated directors at WB, he deserved this tribute and more.

I agree; I wish they re-air this specific program. Is it a pretty good bet it will be re-aired sometime in the future? Fact is, I didn't have my VCR set. :(

When and if it is repeated, please post a VCR alert on this forum in super large print. Thanks! :D

Looks like a rerun is no time soon (im still wating for that Tashlin re-run) and yep i missed both. Ducktators on CN? Never thought it would happen. And the president of CN said they "weren't about pushing boundries." I sure wish they played Robinson Crusoe, Jr. What a cool cartoon that is

Okay, everyone. Your chance to see it again (and a lot of you's chances to see it the first time) is TONIGHT, May 18, at 8:00 p.m. Eastern, for a full hour.

Unfortunately, I believe they have. Thus, the fatal difference between a late night Toonheads and a primetime Toonheads.

Maybe you'll be lucky. I mean, tape it anyway. It'll be a good episode no matter what.

-MatthewEh, I sort of fear that Matt is right, but I really hope not. Come on, CN! You showed African cannibals on Time Squad and advertised it, you can show a couple black-and-white cartoons with Wartime references.

I will try to tune in and see if they've altered it (sadly, I have also been hearing that tonight's broadcast will be different than the one they aired a few months back). I agree it would be stupid. This was the best episode of Toonheads they've ever done.

I wouldn't mind being called stupid in this scenario. Better to be wrong and pleasantly surprised, than wrong and disappointed. Thus, the reason for my consistent attitude.

I'm not trying to tell people not to watch, I hope that's not what people are assuming. I'm definitely watching. Considering the only other thing that's on at 8 is a bad Simpsons episode (which is a new episode, but I already know its quality).

If this episode of Toon Heads is considered the best episode over, perhaps the baseball episode can be classified as the worst. It was on the Saturday before the Norman McCabe episode and it gave no information you won't find out by watching the three cartoons. Nevertheless, the Norman McCabe episode is fantastic. I was lucky to tape The Ductators, since Sunday night is usually family night. I did notice the superior quality of Daffy's Southern Exposure, but was not able to tape any cartoon other than The Ductators, uncut, and was it ever great! Had it come on again that night, I certainly would have taped it then. This cartoon is indeed rare, in terms of quality and content. PD tapes the world over might have the same cartoon, but of inferior audio and video. 'Twas funny and historical. All who have taped even that one cartoon consider yourselves fortunate, and bless Cartoon Network for bringing you such cartoons, cut or uncut, that you have never before heard of or imagined.

Best. Episode. Ever.

I'm shocked that CN decided to air "The Ducktators". Good job CN!
