Since Episode 2 seems to be the most anticipated of the forthcomming sequels, I wonder what you guys are hoping to see.
I was rather disappointed with Episode one. But, rumor has it Lucas was going for a light movie, planning to make the other films darker and more dramatic.
I've been thinking about what I'd like to see in Episode 2 and what elements of Episode one I'd like to be minimized ~ahem, cough, JarJar, cough!~
If you were in Lucas' shoes, what would be on your list of things to include in Episode Two? Would you start the film with Anakin as a full-blown Jedi, or have him be in training. Will he show signs of the "dark side" and be on the road to "evil" by the films end? Would you make a love-triangle between Amidala, Obi-Wan and Anakin?...

I'd heard Anakin was supposed to show signs of his 'dark side' in Episode 1 by really freaking out at one of his friends on Tatooine, but it was cut out. I'm fairly sure he'll show his bad side in Episode 2 - I was hoping he'd be Vader by the third film, so we could see him hunting down the Jedi council one by one in Episode 3, but I don't think we'll see that...
All I really want to see in Episode 2 is Jar jar die horribly...

In the Ep1 DVD, that deleted sceen w/ anakin fighting with Wald (his "Friend") is included in it..so we'll be able to see if jake lloyed pulled off the evilness.
I just want EP2 to be a good film...Lucas already said that this is his favorite of them so far (I dunno if he included the original 3)..

I heard
Jar Jar's time is greatly minimized, mostly due to the fact that the guy who played him in Ep1 was about killed in a car accident. Also heard Anakin is supposed to go berserk on a group of Sandpeople he blames for killing his mother, so that would show that his dark side does come out in this chapter. Obi-Wan takes off by himself in his personal aircraft, and I think that's how he ends up confronting Jango Fett. Plus the lightsaber fight in the rain (!!!!!!!!). I'm really hoping a trailer comes out in the next few months...

Jake Lloyd couldn't pull a muscle. And that isn't a dig at him - he's only a kid, but, for God's sake, at what point did the crew (Lucas in particular) realise Lloyd was about as versatile as a mop-head, and why oh why didn't they get somebody who could act!!? That ridiculous attempt to cut and paste a smile on Anakin's face whilst he's having dinner with Qui-Gon and co. is even more horrendous than Greedo firing first...

--I've been hanging out at IMDb a lot and reading the reviews--and I'll be danged if folks aren't reviewing this movie already even though it won't hit theaters until spring next year! Darkness this, Darth that, death to Jar Jar. Anakin starts a family, loses loved ones, begins to lose his mind. They're doing everything but posting the bloody script up there....

As far as I know Anakin will take the name Vader as soon as he goes to the "dark side" which should happen near the very end of Episode 2 or at some point between 2 & 3. But we shouldn't even expect to see the classic Vader suit (and life support system) and hear James Earl Jones's voice until at least the last third of Episode 3.
And while everyone expects Episode 2 to be more along the lines of "Empire" (with the exception of the awful name) Episode 3 should be even darker, what with Anakin (or Vader if you prefer) slaughtering the Jedi left and right.

That's exactly why I didn't mind the lighter tone of Episode One all that much. Considering that, by definition, the end of this trilogy is going to be a world-class downer, Lucas needed to have fun while he could.

Actually, the main thing I was looking forward to seeing were female Jedi in action. Now there are some new ones on the council for this episode, but I havent heard if any of them are bound to do some 'sabre swinging...I've always wanted to know [Ever since I saw Adi Gallia & Depa Bilba in THE PHANTOM MENACE] If the girls can fight better than the guys!

I'd like to see some hint of Anakin's darkness, maybe this could be shown by a love triangle between him, Princess, and Obi-Wan not working out the way he'd like. That could help push him towards evil. Also, I'd like to see some kind of problem face Anakin that could only be solved by using the dark side, then that would begin a transition. Eventually, I'd like to see what Anakin sees as problems in the Federation (or whatever it's called) can only be solved through increasing amounts of order, which are only possible by using the dark side. I'm sure Emperor Palpatine would have his part in training Anakin in the dark side. However, by using the dark side, Anakin winds up doing more harm than good, removing people's freedom to replace it with order, which starts up the rebel forces for the original series.
I don't read the books or anything, so I'm sorry if I said anything that the books had in them or anything like that. I just see the movies, and those I don't even know too well. I think that the above outline would give a reasonable explanation of how Anakin became Vader.
Also, Jar Jar should die. Maybe not in an incredibly painful way, but he just needs to be gone.

Two things I really want to see:
1. Anakin as Vader before he needs the breathing suit. I'm not sure why, but I'd love to see that.
2. A female Sith Lord. So far, all the Sith/Jedi we've seen have been guys. I'd love to see a woman Sith, especially if she looks good.

The female Sith Lord idea sounds like a keeper. I really like dangerous women in movies.
A love triangle between Obi-Wan, Amidala and Anakin is still the best subplot I can conceive of.
On a related note; I think I know why Jedi and Phantom Menace aren;t as good as A New Hope and Empire.
In the first two Star Wars films (ep's 4&5) they spit the cast up so they can do their own thing, but in the other two they seemed adrift.
Episode 4: The Princess and Vader are off in one one story string.
The Droids are in another, before they meet up with Luke.
And Luke is on his own.
Then Luke, the Droids and Obi-wan set off with Han and Chewie.
Once thet get to the Death Star Obi-wan goes off alone, confronting Vader.
Luke, Han and Chewie rescue the Princess;
While the droids stay behind.
Then all the characters are involved in the climax.
Same thing with "Empire..."
Luke is out with the snow monster.
Vaders off in space
And the others are back at the base.
Then, after the battle on Hoth:
Luke goes off with R2 to find Yoda in the Degobah System.
Han, Leia and the others are on the Falcon.
Vader's on his ship.
Then they all meet up for the climax in Cloud City.
I believe the weaknesses in episodes 6 and 1 can be traced to the weakness of the way the characters are devided in the story structer.
In Episode 6 Luke and Hab are simply absent for the first part of the film (Han's in carbonite.)
Vader arrives at the new Death Star to bark orders and set up the arrival of the Emperor.
Then, the film unfolds like a roll call. The droids show up at Jabba's. Then Leia and Chewie. Hey look, it's Landou! Then Han's set free only to be captured again, along with Luke who decides to show up, finally, and everyone else.
Then comes the entertaining, but obligatory, action sequence, which is an island that distracts form the main plot rather than advancing it.
The movie in it's entirety proves to be a sting of sequences that go nowhere, until the final confict.
Sadly, the space and light saber battles are already familiar territory from the endings of the other two films. While the business on Endor is uninteresting and silly.
Episode One suffers form the same problem of not seperating the characters well and not giving them enough to do.
Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon are wandering about for much of the first act. Jar-Jar, a worthless character, is given too much attention.
Once the two Jedi meet up with Amidala there is very little interaction between them and we don't see any emerging subpots until Tatooine.
On Tatooine there is another problem. Qui-Gon, Padme and JarJar, a group with no chemestry, set off to explore, while Obi-Wan is ignored.
Then, Anakin, a character whom we've just met, takes center stage and holds it for the remainder of the film, making the disinteresting events that transpired before his arrival all the more pointless.
In the end we have little cause to root for Obi-Wan, who is not allowed to develope within the film (and who is not nearly as cool as Maul.)
The war between the Gungans and the battle droids is also mute. The droids are such abysmal fighters that we cannot see them as a real threat, dispite their numbers. And we have no emotional investment in the Gungans, who's representative, Jar Jar has only annoyed us throughout the film.
After a simple story analysis it's easy to see why "A New Hope" and "Empire" are the classics "Jedi" and "Phantom Menace" only aspired to be.
Then again maybe I'm just fishing. Disputes are wlcome of course.;) If you loved Episode One, fine. But, I didn't.
