As fas as greatest animator I would go with one not on the list, Bill Tytla -- his greatness was at animating other people's conceptions at Disney; as a director at Famous he was only as good as the ideas other people gave him (and he may have chased the very-sloppy, but very-funny animator Jim Tyer over to Terrytoons).
Some of the others, like Avery, were not-so-great animators in terms of pure drawing style, but were great directors because of their ideas and the ability to get those ideas put across by their animation units.

My vote would go to Vladimir Tytla also. The "Night on Blad Mountain" episode from "Fantasia" has made freat impression on me.

I voted for Robert McKimson, though there are some people on both lists that I've never heard of.

I voted for Otto Messmer, the creator of Felix the Cat.
Tex Avery would be second best.

--with Lee: men like Clampett and McKimson were pretty straight-arrow stick-to-the-model-sheet-darn-it fellows, while Avery was more loose and mad with his art. It was Avery's directing and scriptwriting where he excelled more. It depends on what effect you want, though--haunting or zany, and the later was Tex's forte....
