I know a ton of us got Metroid Prime for X-mas, so I was just wondering where's everyone at in the game ? I figure we could use this thread to help each other or to brag about achievements or to just state basically where we are.

Like right now I just got my morph ball back and I'm trying to figure out where to go next.

I just finished the section where you run into the space pirates for the first time since landing on Tallon IV.

It's in Phenandra Drifts, after you get the wave beam. The map directs you to the pirate's research station, and the various labs are cluttered with some really tough pirates. There's computer terminals everywhere, and scanning them all opened up about 200 % more plot than there was before. You learn all about the nature of Phazon, the history and scale of the operations currently being conducted, and you learn about the pirate's intents for the mutagen. There's a holographic projecter in one room that shows the Tallon IV Solar System. You can scan the other planets in the solar system for data about them (including Planet Zebes, from the first Metroid and Super Metroid) You also read about the reconstruction of Ridley, and... wait for it... encounter Metroids, in what's quite possibly the most intense and kickass sequence in any videogame ever. The whole thing climaxes with you fighting dozens of space pirates and Metroids, in the dark, with your newly-discovered thermal visor. This whole chapter succeeds in making the Space Pirates look truly evil- the scale of their operations is unbelievable, and their plans to infuse their DNA with Phazon are chilling. That's not even talking about the potential of what they plan to do with the Metroids... this game succeeds in making you realize why Samus went to SR388 in Metroid II to exterminate the whole species.

All in all, I think that said chapter of the game will be one of my favorite videogame memories ever. The pace, intrigue, tension, drama... it's all incredible. I could not put the controller down. Metroid Prime is truly revolutionary because I honestly think that it contains the best story of any game ever... yet, it doesn't succeed in this because of voice acting or cinema sequences. It puts you smack dab in the middle of everything, and immerses you within a story which, through usage of the scan visor, unfolds around you. It truly is an unrivaled game. I look forward to Retro Studio's future endeavours with great anticipation.

Stupid question. During boss battles, does anyone else sway back and forth with Samus when moving away from boses ? I almsot can't help it. It really does seem like it's me shooting the baddies.

I brought me a copy a few weeks before Christmas, my gift to myself, and right now I'm about where randomguy is. I have gotten the thermal visor and just recently gotten the Spider Ball. I haven't played the game in a few days thanks to MK: DA and THPS 4, but I am to glad I got this game.

Note to new players: Find the save stations and save save save. Nothing worse then beting some hard ass boss just to get killed by the smallest thing and having to starting over.

Yeah after I achieve things I always backtrack to the nearest save station.

Right now I'm at that first "real" boss with the retarded name that's hard to pernounce "Flaagrha". I'm having the hardest time taking him out. :D But i'll get to it in the morning. This game is ruining my sleep schedual.

I got the game in November and I'm at 47% at last check.. :o

I just got my X-Ray visor (Some weirdo crap going on with that one) and my power ball upgrade. Fun stuff--I stalled for awhile cause I was getting my butt whooped..but then I turned the tables and whooped their (Space Pirates) butts..so it's all good.. :D

I had that same feeling the first time I took those and the mama sheegoth on. But it can be quite fun getting up some place high and then hitting them with a missle combo or charged blast while they are still sleeping. Another hard enemy to add to the list are some i just found, the Chrozo Ghost . (Spoiler box is just a precaution.)

ne1 beat this game yet, it's so long! I just got my morph ball back. An I really wish we could see Samus witout her armor on, completely none. I wanna see what she looks like. When she dies in the other games we see her in a bra and underwear for like 2 seconds, but I'd like to see her like that so I could get a good look.I want to know what she looks like, she's the main chartacter! Anyone have a picture of it?

I got the game fairly early on, so I'm pretty well into it. I have all the visors, weapons, and abilities. And, right now...

I just got my second piece of info about the Phazon Mines, and have to head out there again.

I still need to find the missle charge combo shot thingy for the ice and magma cannons. And I only have 3 artifacts right now. I know I missed a few early on...I think I only have numbers 4, 5, and 10, or something.

If I could, I'd like to go off-topic for a moment to ask a question: Has anybody else had any weird problems with their copy of Metroid Prime? Because my copy is acting very strange. Every so often, my GC starts making stuttering noises, and then a black screen comes up saying something like "An error has occurred. Please shut off your Game Cube."

I know it's not over-heating, because sometimes it happens after five minutes of play when the GC has been innactive for hours and hours. I also don't think the disc is scratched, because, looking at it, it looks brand new. I tried cleaning it, as well as the GC laser, but I still occassionally get the problem.

Anyone else get this? Any idea what it could be? Should I contact Nintendo, or the store I bought it at? Sorry about going off topic, but I thought putting it hear might be better than starting a new thread.

Totally. I was fighting Thardus the rock beast yesterday, and I was practically jumping off of my couch...projectile flying at me! WOOSH Gotta strafe around 'im....*leaaaaannnnn*...Etc. etc. Luckily I have a WaveBird so when I begin to pump my fist or throw my arms up in triumph/intense frustration my system doesn't go flying across the room.

Anyways, I'm at about 38% after 4 days of play...I just entered the Phazon Mines and met the super-suited weapon-resistant Space Pirates :eek::eek:.

Well, that hasn't happened to me, but my copy has frozen a couple of times. It's just stock-still, with whatever sound was going on at the time of the freeze repeating over and over. Kind of irratating, but it hasn't happened to me at any crucial moments.

Shnay, in response to your off-topic question, I have your answer. This problem happened to me a while back. It's not the game, it's the system itself. You may have a defective Gamecube. I would first suggest you go through all the procedures that the instruction manual provides. If they don't work, then you need to go and have it replaced. Send it back to Nintendo and they will get you a replacement. It also might help you out if you have your warrenty with you. If the warrenty has run out, it may cost you to replace it. I hope that helps you out. By the way, I got my replacement in a week, so you shouldn't be pining away too long with anticipation.

As for the video game itself, I've just defeated the Omega Pirate. This is the biggest, baddest space pirate of them all. He's the last major boss before Ripley. I'm now in the process of collecting artifacts, expansions, etc. Unfortunately, I have some discouraging news for other gamers. If you haven't been scanning everything that you can, you're out of luck. There is a special ending cinema sequence given to you if you scan everything on your lists. These lists are, Pirate Data, Chozo Lore, Creatures, Research, and Artifacts. I already missed one scan when I was fighting an early mini-boss, so I know I won't get to see it yet. Right now, I'm just looking forward to beating the game.

never froze when I was playing Metroid, but it went to the black screen once when I was paying NBA Courtside 2002. I shut it off only to find that the disc wasn't in properly. It's a wonder it ran at all.

OH MY GOD THANK YOU (end n00b mode) I've been wanting az pic of that since my bro beat it.

unlike most of you I have had Prime and Fusion since the day they were released (not bragging, just stating a point) but I don't get to play as often as my Bros do.

Fusion is 100% complete and Prime is at 85% and at the final bossthe Metroid Prime itself

now I have a question some of you might not be able to answer but here it goes: I have tyhe NP Guide and have been using it to find the extra missiles and such( We got all the way to Ridley without it:moon: )but in it it only gives hints for 4 Super Bobms expansions, but you stat out with 3, right? well, my brother's frined who has recently completed the game has 8 and we can't figure out how this happened. Is the guide screwed up? or do you start off with 4 and my mind is playing tricks on me. anyway I fgured I'd ask beforee I go on a Tallon-wide search for every room containing a bomb upgrade.

Silverwings> there are more thna 4 energy tnaks, there are enoguh to fill the width of your energy bar. it's like 9 or 10, i can't remember exactly right now. Also, if you think the thermal visor is creepy, wait till you ge the X-ray visor, that's downright SCARY specially when the Chozo Ghosts start attracking you

Jingo> My bro beat it at his frined's house and says at the end of the game You see Samus without her helmet on in full 3-d. but he didn't get the "best" ending, so she might show more, she usually does

i know there are more than 4, but I meant at the point in the game where I'm at. Like, should I be at 5 or 6 tanks when I get the thermal visor kinda thing.

As for the x-ray visor, I've heard its great. Like when you get hit and your hand goes in front of your face and you can see your hand (or so I've been told).

Yes, they do give you three to start out with, but you actually have room for five. Why they don't just start you out with five is beyond me. When you get the three expansions, it makes eight. As far as I know, eight's the most you can get.

thanks, now I'll just have to go thru the guide and return to all the locations until I find the bomb expansion I missed (yay 235 missiles, just a few more to go then on the Prime!)

Ok, I just beat the game (yay) and I have some info for y'all (don't worry no spoilers)

Beating the game with all items gives you 100%, the ammount of enemies you've scanned is inconsequentialto this goal.

Beating the game on 100% gives you a special movieafter the credits and "mission complete" screen that you WILL want to see

hard mode can be optional, you can return to your actual game and beat the Metroid Prime all you want.

The Fusion Suit can be activated in all game modes and only needs to be connecetd to GBA to unlock it the first time.

the Fusion color sceme is dictated by the the variation of colors and progresion in the GBA game :

Regualar: Turquoise/Yellow
Varia: Yellow/Purple
Gravity: Purple/ Green
Phazon: Orange/Yellow

I feel kinda silly reviving this thread weeks after its death, but I JUST gotta talk about this!

Okay, I've rented Metroid Prime for a week. I have a four-day weekend ahead of me, so I plan to use the majority of my freedom on getting at least...oh, I dunno....ten percent of the way through.

After twenty-three minutes of gameplay I'm still at 00%. You know why? 'Cause I don't save. :moon2:

I beat the Parasite Queen and was later mangled by the surviving space pirates and laser sentinels. I beat the Parasite Queen again and got lost in a maze of tunnels full of those slimy parasites. I got as far as the point where my suit begins to lose its powers, couldn't open a door, but it wouldn't have mattered anyway because I was at 2 seconds till destruction.

I have to beat the Queen AGAIN next time I play.

This game is exhausting. It creeps me out and the general tone puts me on edge. My heart races, my breath quickens, and my eyes dart nervously.

I LOVE IT!!!

Nothing has given me the adrenaline rush Prime has. This is the first FPS-like game I'm considering buying and I might end up getting more just to match the feeling of MP. Graphics are spectacular, sound effects are effectively creepy, and the plot is chilling.

The music can be a bit over-the-top and lacks a bit of subtelty during big battles, but the steady beats keeps a good pace. This is a VERY good game in my opinion and I hope I get far enough to start appreciating its advanced features.

So, any general advice for a Metroid dabbler? Nothing specific past escaping the reactor explosion, please, but general tips are welcome. Any talkback on the actual game itself would be good too. Thanks.

Okay, I'm at six percent now. (No thanks to you all. :p ) and I'm starting to seriously doubt my gaming ability. This game is just too indimidating for me. My nine-year-old brother has to coach and guide me through it (he's at ten). I still love it and I WILL add it to my collection someday, but I realize it's going to take every bit of perserverance I got.

I"ve gotten back my missles, morph ball, and charge beam. I need to find my morph ball bombs to find the last rune in the room with the giant tree and scythe vines. I will not say no to any advice on getting those bombs!

Thanks.

I am eternally grateful to the hint system of this game. I would still be some five parts behind were it not for the wonderfully informative maps.

I think I've retrieved everything but my grappling beam.

Creatures I hate:

Magmoors - fairly easy to kill, but those dang jets of fire burn me everytime!

Sheegoths - OMG, someone save me from these demons. These are killing machines and are not worth sticking around for the kill. They always bring me down to at least one energy tank before I finish them off.

Anyway, I'm off to re-explore the Chazo Ruins since I have no idea where to go now that I've gotten the space jump boots. This is one point where my scan system isn't providing me with any clues. Slight nudges in the right direction, anyone?

God yes. I mean just when you think you've reached the easy part after his wings burned off, it turns out that, that's the hard part ! He rushes at you with such a speed that soemtiems you don't dodge because your like, how can it move that fast!!? Then he doubles up on you. I had so much fun and frustration fighting him. Wish I could go back and fight him for sport now, using the other guns.

Well I have been playing off and on ever since I've bought it.. but the most recent weapon I got was the plasma beam.. and I've got 10 out of 12 artifacts. I'm on my way back to the mines to finish things up there, before I set out to finish things up.

As far as the problems with the game, mine's frozen up a few times on the elevator, but it's only happened a couple times. However it makes me nervous, everytime I ride that thing.

Bosses beat :
Parasite Queen
Flaagrha
Thardus

Items acquired :
Charge Beam
Missles
Morph Ball
Morph Ball Bombs
Boost Ball
Wave Beam
Super Missle
Thermal Visor
Spider Ball

Time Elapsed:
Almost 6 hours

I feel I might as well make a comprehensive list of what I've accomplished, 'cause I don't know if I'm going to get any farther. Thardus was HARD. Fighting him was the first time I got a game over in a long time and it brought down my feeling of invincibility. Now there are flying pirates EVERYWHERE and those things always managed to bring me down another energy tank. I'm going to push for 30% before I have to return it. Wish me luck.

Well, I just got to Ridley. The first part of the battle was laughably easy, I was wondering why everyone thouht he was so hard. Then he landed. Ouch. I was doing semi-good though, I hadn't lost any full tanks before he had landed so I survived for quite a while. He was so near death, but then he started charging at me like mad and knocked out a couple tanks in a few seconds. I'm way too tired to try again tonight. I went from 28%-81% this weekend and my fingers are a little bit sore and my eyes are pretty tired, but I'm glad to say this is one of the most fin games I've ever played.
