Watched both of these shows' Christmas specials yesterday...

BUZZ: Buzz must help save Santa's time-distortion device (which allows him to deliver gifts all across the galaxy) from Zurg's clutches, or else Christmas Is Doomed.

Apparently Christianity (or the secular elements of Christmas, anyway) has spread across multiple alien planet cultures in Buzz's futuristic era... also apparently, Santa's moved digs to outer space, complete with dropping the reindeer.

JCA: Jackie (& co.) must help save Santa's chi from Wong's clutches, or else Christmas Is Doomed.

Thought this one was a bit weird (wouldn't associate St. Nick with stuff loosely based on Far East-based metaphysics/mythology/religion), or that someone who lived in Japan would be that much into Christmas (where Christianity's a decidedly-in-the-minority religion) like Tohru's mother was; still, had its moments. THough kind of wished Jade's gift from St. Nick was a one-way ticket back to Hong Kong... ;-)

After seeing this, something I made up for fun like "Chandu's Rockin' New Year's Eve" doesn't sound like it'd be *too* far fetched (maybe as a KWB promo----drag in shows from Cartoon Network and make it a "top 10 villain-based episodes countdown" sort of thing, or something... nah, it'd take too much airtime away from "Yu-Gi-Oh"...). :-)

Christmas is more popular than you'd guess. Most people in the East who celebrate it are decidedly more into the secular Santa Claus stuff than the birth of Christ, much like many non-Catholics who celebrate Mardi Gras have no clue about the religious aspects tied to it.

Anyone besides me think the Buzz Lightyear Christmas thing was full of it? I laughed myself sick at the pure cheesyness.

Valid point, I suppose... if the flippin' *Flintstones* (who live zillions of years before Christ's birth) can celebrate the secular aspects of Christmas, and *I* (the atheist/agnostic one) can celebrate the secular aspects of Christmas, well...

Yeah, thought the Buzz special was pretty cheesy...
