It's awesome. Hauntingly beautiful music and well-rendered, fully-shaded 3-D animation. I really hope this OP stays for the whole run of the series when it hits CN.

The CG opening only starts from Episode 3. The first two episodes have a different opening, which is primarily a splice of scenes from the first couple of episodes of the series. The opening song, "Inner Universe," is great. I don't like the CG opening that much, though I have warmed up to it from when I first saw it. The CG looks decent for the Tachikomas, but looks terrible on Kusanagi. The cell-shaded CG in the show works much better.

Of course it's not like any of us really saw it. ;) The new CGI opening looks pretty good. It's a lot different than the show, even the nice cel shading CG in the show, but I like it. And yes, 'Inner Universe' is a beautiful song. Plus I find it cool that it's in Russian. With songs like this from Yokko Kanno I must ask, Why can't John Williams do techno?
Though I can say offitially I saw a raw copy of episode 2 this past summer at AXNY's Bandai panel. Everyone there was very excited about it. Plus it didn't hurt that Yoko Kanno herself was there. I don't remember them giving any offitial statement if it was going to Adult Swim or if they were considering it. I think it was too soon to say anything. They did say somehting about a DVD release sometime in 2003.
