Well here we are, after much work.
Just a reminder of who is showcasing and when:

1)Lady Kylewayne - Talia - 12/14
2) TimTwoFace - Penguin/Two-Face/Calendar Girl - 12/15
3) Frozen - Harley Quinn - 12/16
4) Barb Gordon - Oracle/Nightwing - 12/17
5) Selena Kyle - Batman/Catwoman/Superman - 12/18
6) Salvor - Bane/Riddler - 12/19
7) Pyro~ManiacX - Robin(Tim)/Killer Croc/Babydoll - 12/20
8) Terminatah - N/A - 12/21
9) Batman Year One - Ventriloquist - 12/22
10) Patrick Star - Clayface/Mad Hatter - 12/23
11) LM1313 - Flash/Pied Piper/Mirror Master - 12/24
12) SJJ - Joker - 12/25

The list is likely to change, so don't be surprised if we see some new names up there!

For those blundering into the board for the first time, we have a variety of artists who have come together to design and draw a day of the song '12 Days Of Christmas'. The original goes like this... *ahem*.

On the first day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
A partridge in a pear tree.

On the second day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Two turtle doves

On the third day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Three French Hens.

On the fourth day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Four calling birds,

On the fifth day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Five golden rings,

On the sixth day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Six geese a laying,

On the seventh day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Seven swans a swimming,

On the eighth day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Eight maids a milking,

On the ninth day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Nine ladies dancing,

On the tenth day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Ten lords a leaping,

On the eleventh day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Eleven pipers piping,

On the twelfth day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Twelve drummers drumming,

With the help of these artists sharp and quite frankly twisted imagination, we are delighted to present a slightly different version of the theme. Having been fortunate to sample a couple, I think everyone is going to be in for a real Christmas/Batmas treat!

These will be posted daily, for 12 days, from today.

Enjoy!

Thanks^^

I'd like to thank Borg4of3 my partner who helped me a lot with this pic (coloring+background). Without him this drawing wouldn't be what it is today.

Thank you SENSEI! *bows & hug* :)

What a wonderful way to start off the countdown!! Truly an awesome idea and warping of the lyrics for the first day Kylie. Talia looks quite happy. Batman too, until he wakes up! Awesome job with the coloring and background Borg! The details in some areas is great. Like both your names on the presents and the Batman, Robin and Nightwing themed ornaments.

It is a stunning picture, and don't give Borg all the credit KW - Talia looks great, and it was a wonderful bit of pencilling. The colours and finish are superb - no doubt there too. A great start to what I think will be a very striking and festive season of pictures!

lol. Oh my gosh that is so awesome. Nice use of the idea of all the birds mentioned in the song. Poor Penguin. Certainly not a happy second day, but a very well drawn one! Love the action in the scene and the colors are fantastic as always.

It is a fantastic image. Vivid and colourful as ever, with that lovely touch of Timmy's humour. Again, we have a superb piece of work.

Frozen tommorow!

LOL! I love it Timster!
You always have the most funniest drawings and I love that!
Dark humour! Gotta love it in a Timmy way.
Love the colours and I still think that Penguin is trying to kill the doves by squashing them...hehe :D

I wasn't online AT ALL on the 14th, so I have to first do this...

KYLIE! *MWAH* As I already told you over AIM, that pic absolutely rocks. Borg did a great job colouring it, yes - man, I love everything from Batman's goofy grin to the shading on the Christmas tree - but I particularly love how you drew Talia. You really have a great eye for the female form, darlin' - not just the big buxom ones but hey, that works for this pic. :) That, and it's just a cute pic all around - I love how Batman is under that tree. Oh, ignorance is bliss.

As for mine...thanks to everyone for responding to that one, too. :) It took me a while to figure out what to do, and I'm not totally happy with Penguin's head (or the fact that Calendar Girl is like 3-foot-nothing), but I think that my best hand-drawn hand ever was in this one, with Two-Face's "good" hand. Thanks again to all the praise...and for posting it twice. :D

Is anyone else having trouble viewing the pics? I couldn't get it to work yesterday either.

James
12-16-2002, 05:56 PM
I have had no problem with it normally. If you see my pictures in other threads, you should be able to see these. Same server. My only guess is that they are running a little slow over the past few days. I don't think there is any major issues..

Okay, no Frozen yet, his picture should be here. Obviously, give him a little longer, then I'll leave a space for his pic. If Frozen hasn't posted the pic tomorrow, I'll assume there are computer issues his end and I'll PM Salvor and Selena to send their pics to me rather than Frozen. We'll see if he shows his icy head first! :D

TimTwoFace

I've had some issues trying to see the pictures lately, too. They always do eventually pop up, but it takes much longer than usual. Oh well, at least we still get to see them. Patience is a virtue. :)

Great Salvor, we're still on track! Double whammy, so to speak, today - Frozen's posting his later today and Barb's is pretty much ready and will go up shortly after!

Selena's tomorrow and Salvor's the day after! What a week!

Frozen - VERY Comic like, looks fantastic! Harley is dead on! *HUGS*

Barb - Another awesome picture hon. Once again your drawing of Oracle is just beautiful! Love the thought behind it, and those dolls are sooo cute. :D

SJJ well done on the coloring. As Barb said you certainly brought this beautiful drawing to life :)

Hey SJJ, great colouring on Barb's pic. What a lazy bum she is. :)

And Barb, you lazy bum, I love the pic! It may very well be the best pic you've done yet, in my opinion. Barb herself looks great, Nightwing looks so gosh-drun cute, and the four calling birds being the four Robins throughout the years - that's genius! :) I especially like how she's actually holding onto the Dick Grayson doll - nice yellow cape. :)

I love all the pics I've seen so far - well, besides mine, cuz I have a bias there. I can't wait to see more!

Hmm if this is an issue, then perhaps we should look at rehosting the pics - they're currently sitting on Geekshelf, which has been fine for me (and I've had no problems accessing), Frozen, we could reedit all the URLs to you auctionspace if you wish. Upload them and send me the URLS and I'll edit them if you like!

It's is a very cool pic. I adjusted the levels a little to make up for the JPG change and make it more colourful. It's a great picture and nicely composed! As I said to Barb last night, these would make great Calendar. 12 days - 12 months - this would be May!! :D

KW - Talia looks awesome. And looks as though she has Batman "wrapped around her little... whatever". (Batman: Vengeance reference :D ) Nicely done!

Tim - Sweet job as usual. I hope for the sake of those little birdies that Harv is thinking with his GOOD side. :D

Frozen - Uber-cool. The B&W really looks good on this. And it looks like a panel from a comic, which puts it over the top. :)

Barb - Coolness! The concept is unique and very fitting. And I must say you drew the other Barb G. to perfection. (On a side note, I like how the Jason Todd doll looks limp and, dare I say it, lifeless . :D )

A (;) ) - Very well done (Again. Damn that cat.) All the characters are nicely sized and proportioned, and Supes looks dead-on. And is Batman simply watching from afar, or do I smell a hint of jealosy? :p

Thanks everyone for all your wonderful comments.

(SJJ, there's no I in my name. :D )
It was pretty hard for me to get this finished in time, having only one day to draw it, take it 30 minutes away to a friends house so I could scan it, (Had problems with the scanner, so for a little while I was getting pretty nervous about not having it) then heading home to download it, and finally use photoshop to even out the colours.....and some of it still looks markerish.

Anyway, in case no one noticed, my picture's an I Spy one.
Here's what you should be able to find,
Four Calling Birds,
Three French Hens,
Two Turtle Doves,
A Partridge In A Pear Tree,
Isis,
A Fire,
A woman falling to her death.... :D ,
And an "Arm". :)

And the poster with the written countdown of the birds doesn't count.

And to your question T, yes he is jealous. In the original picture, I had Batman in the background with his arms folded having an almost "humph" kinda look. But I didn't have time to make him look the way I wanted, so I settled for a shadow.

Okay, I've rambled enough. :)

I've really been enjoying all the pictures so far - they're great!

Kylewayne - I like the way you drew Talia; she looks lovely. Batman will be in for a surprise when he wakes up!

TimTwoFace - I like the way you drew Two-Face here. I feel sorry for those two birds - I'm glad my cockatiels aren't in that situation! :D

Frozen - This is very good; it looks juist like a page out of a comic book!

Barb Gordon - I really like the colours you used here. Babs and Nightwing are adorable - and the Robin dolls was a cute touch!

Selena Kyle - I like this picture; especially the way you drew the expression on Superman's face.

Ooooh, Salvor, I love the different style you used for your pic. Last time I remember a very close resemblance to the animated style (with your Croc picture in "TOONZONE"), but this one is even better. I'm trying to remember whose style is vaguely reminds me of, but I love it!

Well this time, I didn't try to stick to a particular style. Though I did take inspiration from a French artist for the weird "hairy" inks. And somehow, I think this Batman looks like Jim Lee's Batman (not that it compares with it! :o), but it wasn't intended.

I love this pic! Robin look absolutely fantastic. His pose and coloring are just really top notch. So it Killer Croc actually. Love the parade theme and the giant swan and 6 smaller swans with money. There's so much detail with the city too and even the night sky. A really awesome pic, Pyro, it shows how hard you worked on it.

I always wait for at least one person to reply before jumping in!! This is a great pic - they are all so different!! Croc and Robin stand out well and there is so much to look at, yet the composition and vanishing points keep you focused on the action! Great colours too!

Pyro
12-21-2002, 01:28 PM
YAY! My picture is finally up! It's quite different than my original intention. Before the twelve days theme I was going to have Robin have Killer Croc apprehended and stuffing Baby Doll in a gift box to present to the GCPD. But I like this one too. I really like the way "Pawn Shop" was put into perspectve, the closest windows, much of the coloring, and the way Croc's legs came out. (they don't seem to have outlines and i think the overall effect is cool)

Some of my problems with it:
- Two doorknobs are covered by snowflakes
- I forgot to put shading on the money bags
- The phrase. It works but it's kind of odd but forgive me... I mean I had to tell what was happening and fit in "seven swans a' swimming" and it was late at night. :p
- I forgot to color Robin's "R" yellow

Pyro
12-22-2002, 01:45 AM
A couple more things. Thanks for your compliments. Has anyone noticed that baby doll is in the picture. And, finally something interesting I learned while working on this project: On the religious calandar, the 12 days of Christmas are actually the days that come after it, not the days leading up to it. :D

Hey Pyro, I love it! Robin and Croc turned out amazing, and the perspective of the buildings is great, too. Heck, even Baby-Doll is spot on. Nice to see how you used the swans - if I chose day #7, I'd be rather stuck with how I'd incorportate the lyrics.

I must confess I like to see this underused character getting an airing. Created by John Wagner I recall - co-creator of Judge Dredd. TitbitSJJ

I love the speech balloons - that's a nice touch and the way they are talking out of the frame. The rest is... disturbingly bizarre! Certainly the most surreal picture yet!! Great! :D

One thing I forgot to mention in the pic was that they were waiting for Batman to fight them, 10 days ago. But you can see in the background that Batman had fallen in the ice.

Thanks guys, I guess it is more surreal now that I see it like this :D

I just wish I could've made the cracks on Clayface more crackly.

It's more the style and activity that makes it feel surreal. It has a sort of montage feel to it! I think it's great! I like the arrow to the Bat Prints!! lol.

Great jobs BYO and Patrick Star! BYO, to me your pic looks like a one-panel comic strip I'd see in the newspaper (which id good), ever thought about going professional? Patrick Star, good job; it's a funny pic and I really like your buildings.
Good job everyone whose pic I've seen so far! :D

Thanks people. Though I have to admit, I couldn't get Scarface or the Ventriloquist to look right, so I had to use a panel from an issue of Gotham Adventures to base the two off of.

Hey BYO, I love the Ventriloquist pic! The photographic quality is very nice - and yes, I'd feel ripped off if my "Nine Ladies Dancing" was just some dumb board game, too. :p

As for you Patrick star, awesome! My fave part was Clayface's speech balloon - it was so "Simpsons" it was crazy. "That's it, I'm outa here." :) Hehe.

OMG . . . I just got here after being sick for a few days and I've just been going back and forth through the thread, admiring the artwork! Beautiful job, guys! :D I just love the wacky sense of humor on display in these! I don't think I've seen one that didn't elicit a "LOL" or an "Awwwww!" ^_^

Hey Cool pic! It's nice to have a change of characters every once in a while! I'm most glad you put Mirror Master in it, for a while now I have been wondering who he was (my closest guess was Mr. element but I knew that wasn't it) but I couldn't find out.

I love the light Christmas colours - Flash is looking his perky self and you've managed to find a SNEAKY way of getting round the issue of having to draw 11! I wish I had thought of that!!!! :D

Hey LM, great pic...my favourite part this time around, though, was how you got out of drawing eleven piping pipers. :) And Flash kicks ass. I can't wait to draw him, myself.

Merry Christmas!

Amazing SJJ!!!! Even more powerful colored then it was in sketch form. Love Joker's look, very interesting job with his outfit and its coloring too. Poor Santa, incredibly detailed face and shadows with him as well. And the overallback tone with the drummers in the back fits quite nicely. WF Fan Fic????woooo! Mr. J has good taste, lol.

Merry Christmas all!!!

OOOOOO, very nice SJJ! I love it! You always do great work with the Joker. This time around, I think I like the experession and haggard look on Santa's face - he looks like he's about to wet himself. :) And I love the Fan Fic novel...I hope some of my material made the final cut before publication.

Merry Chrimma!

Thanks Tim. I love the Joker, he's so liberating - you can do anything you want with him and it just works! Can't through Bats or Nightwing in Bermudas and pull it off so easily!!

As for the Fanfic, well it's a big book, I'm sure there's room for you in there....

Everything has been fantastic! Considering the first project so long ago, everyone has made leaps and bounds in composition, style and thought - stunning and original - I'm so proud to belong to such a fantastically fun and talented community. *slaps everyone back and that leaps backwards against a wall for his own obligatory backslap*

Yeah, it's Terminatah and he's done a runner again. I'll PM him and get this sorted! I have had a couple of requests for his work so I will chase him up on this!

EDIT: He's says it maybe a while yet - but he will do his best to get it sorted by next Xmas ;)
