I care!!!!!!!
I thought it was really good (maybe that's because I'm a band geek too :p ). There were quite a few ppl from the band at the theater I went to last night.... maybe it was just because our drumline was opening for the movie. (YAY! Well, actually, the school drumline is pretty good...). I thought the movie was amazing. It's something I would even go out and buy. (and actually watch :p ):brak: :shake:

Yeah, the only people I saw in the theater were all bandos from either my school or Kettering (our "cross-town rivals").:D

Same here.
It was one of those movies that there aren't many like it. Yeah, you hear about all these baseball, basketball, ect. (not that i'm putting down any of these movies cause I actually like sports :p ) movies, and it's just cool to see a movie that, shows it's also hard to be in band. :D Well, anyways, It was still a really good movie. :D (and our drumline rocks, expecially this one guy that play Quads,:o :p)

How big of a roll does the guy who used to be in "Smart Guy" as the big brother play ? I'm a big fan of his and he's the second reason I'm going to see this flick. Jason Weaver is a great actor who just seems to pick rolls that take him no where.

Hehe, I'm thinking most of the people who are seeing this are bando's! I'm a huge bando, and when I first saw previews, I was like dear god no. They nailed cheerleading, basketball, football...they're actually doing something for the band?! And the drumline of all things, hehe, all I could think about was how crazy and insane the people in our drumline were. I'm actually up for seeing it, if nothing else for the good music! Gonna wait till all my other fellow bandos get back for the holiday's though, so we can all see it together in all our bando glory. Glad it's getting good reviews from fellow bandos, hopefully it wont be a waste of time or money.

This movie was awesome. I'm not really a band nut, I played in the band when I was in 7th grade. I played the trombone. One of the reasons I went to see this movie was because of the tagline "Halftime is game time." Many people who've attended black colleges, or graduated from one often say the main reason they go to their college football games is beacuse of the band. It's been awhile since I've been to one but Norfolk State University in Virginia is a prime example. I'm a big football nut, but I have to admit the haltime show is the best part of the game here.
I was very impressed with this movie I thought I might like it, but I came out loving it. I thought Orlando Jones was great, Leonard Roberts the guy who was Riley's 2nd in command on Buffy a couple of seasons ago was hard-hitting. Jason Weaver form Smart Guy I thought was the best character in the movie. The band duel at the end was incredible.
I can't wait til this comes out on dvd.

This is a movie worth seeing. After seeing this and Paid in Full, Charles Stone III is a director to watch out for. While in many other hands this could have been a trite uplifting story but Stone really got into the head of his characters and added touches of realism and let the viewer see some of the politics behind college life. I love the way Devon's position in the band was influenced by alumni politics.
This movie also hammers home the power of Pop Music a lot more effectively than a lot more of "music oriented" movies have. The climatic band battle had people in the theatre cheering. I do wish that the supporting characters like Jason Weaver's didn't disappear half-way through the movie only to reappear at the end.
I was wondering where I saw the student drumline leader before, thanks for reminding me Guy.
I'm going to keep watching movies directed by Charles Stone III if he keeps on making movies like this and Paid in Full.
