Wow, it's September already....
Anyway, as Stooge and J Lee were alluding to in their previous posts, this was an interesting Acme Hour. It started out looking like a Porky-and-Beans-themed episode, and they certainly could have done a whole episode like that. There were three other Porky-and-Beans cartoons they didn't show ("Hollywood Capers," "Golddiggers of '49," "Boom Boom") and they could have added "Phantom Ship," a Beans solo outing, at the end. Nevertheless, we got a showing of the very rare "Westward Whoa!" so all definitely was not lost. Still, it's kinda strange CN didn't go all the way with their Porky-and-Beans theme, and instead switched gears halfway. But, here are the contents:
"I Haven't Got a Hat" (1935/Freleng)
"Westward Whoa!" (1936/King) -- Colorized version
"Alpine Antics" (1936/King)
"The Honey-Mousers" (1956/McKimson)
"Cheese-it, the Cat" (1957/McKimson)
"Mice Follies" (1960/McKimson)
BONUS: A seventh cartoon tonight, Jones' 1958 outing "Cat Feud" (the last and worst of the Marc Anthony/Pussyfoot cartoons). It didn't fit in with either of the previous themes (they could have continued the Honeymooners theme and showed "Half-Fare Hare"), but at least it was a seventh cartoon!
