I wanted to wait until I read the initial three issue E IS FOR EXTINCTION storyline from New X-Men before I laid down my thoughts and all I can say it...wow. I know that the classis Clarmeont/Byrne run from the 80s will never be forgotten or be beaten, but the Morrison/Quietly run has definatly been the best these books have been in years! The art is beautiful and the story is engrossing. Not only that - but I really dig their new suits. While they are obviously inspired by the movie, they seem like the next evolution of these characters. These new costumes looks like something you'd see in real life but retain that 'team costume' look.

While the story in Uncanny X-Men is only good, the story in New X-Men is amazing. We were bear witness to 16 million mutants wiped off the face of the planet by some pruny old lady and it worked! The conclusion of the arc in the latest issue of NEW X-MEN had a jaw dropping finale, which will have major, major, major ramifications. I can't this going anywheres but up.

Morrison also has the characterization dead on. Wolverine acts like an old army sergenat. The Beast is the intelligent humorist. Cyclops is the emotionless leader. Jean Grey is the intelligent fighter. Emma Frost is a coniving witch. Prof. X is the 'father' to all of them. This series is definatly one that I will not tire of for quite sometime. It's currently rivaling Detective Comics as my favorite book so far. This is a bold new direction for the mutants and it is working great. The sexual innuendos and violence actually works into the story without being distracting. This is how th emutants should have been written like for the past few years, but it working great now. The mutants have come to the new millenium in style.

I recommend everyone pick up NEW X-MEN #114 - 116, or wait until MARVEL rleeases the 3 issue collection of these issues. They should be releasing them soon. Also, get X-FORCE as well for a great satire on mutants and celebrities.

I really like New X-Men so far. But Uncanny hasn't been good at all, IMO. X-Force is cool too, but I dropped it cuz I don't like the charcaters.

I like the Uncanny run. But I may be baised because my favorite characters is on that team(Iceman, Nightcrawler). But the recent issues art was dissapointing on the first few pages(although, it is still better than anything I can draw)

Mr. Clean is sorta lame, yeah, but I think Casey is going somewheres with it. The latest issue of UNCANNY has been the best of the arc, but the arc is still a little dissapointing. And Nightcrawler looked really weird in the latest issue. I can't believe I'm gonna actually miss Churchill's art. But Garney is only a few months away...
