My best friend, whose like a brother to me, got me into the genre about 10 yrs. He had the knowledge so I basically followed his lead when it came to collecting. His thing was Marvel, more specifically Spider-Man. Therefore, I collected Spidey too.

Then BTAS came out. 'Nuff said. He continued collecting Marvel titles (until they starting mucking with their past and continuity).

I quit collecting comics years ago myself. I'm more into watching the animated programs, playing the comic book-based vid games, and collecting artwork inspired by the characters, namely Batman and the whole Gotham scene.

To this day, my friend still knows next to nothing about the DCU. So I made him a tape: Mask of the Phantasm, Sub-Zero, World's Finest, JL: Secret Origins, & BB:ROTJ. He loved it, especially JL. Now he's asking me to copy the whole first season for him.

I just finished it up, adding bonus episodes of STAS & BB: The Call.
I've been wanting him to know about Darkseid so I recorded Apokolips NOW & Legacy for him. I called it "Superman: The Darkseid". And on the other tape I put The Main Man & BB: The Call (very appropriate considering the events from The Main Man carried over into Batman Beyond: The Call).

I've also promised I'd make him an Ultimate Batman tape: 20+ of the greatest eps.

Has anyone else here been able to convert a DC-hater?

He's still a Marvel fan, first and foremost. But he's really loving JL, Batman, and DC. Have you converted anyone?

Naw...Unfortunately I haven't. I got hooked from the time of the old Superfriends shows and loved it ever since. Most of my buds think it's outta their age now, 23 here and I can't get enough of JL...glad others my age like it too...;)

Howdy,

I haven't done this really, either, but stories like that are exactly the reason why I think the people calling for the "Ultimatization" of the DC Universe (*cough* Wizard *cough*) completely and utterly miss the point that it's already been done spectacularly well in BTAS and STAS. Not quite as effectively in JL (yet), but I'm still hoping.

Not converted in the sense that I turned a Marvel fan into a DC fan, but I got my roommate to start watching JL on a semi-regular basis, after introducing him with "The Enemy Below Part 2." He also liked "The Brave and the Bold" story arc, I can't wait till he sees Legends..!

my friend changed his colors after watching "Secret Origins"
I was on the phone with him last year when it debuted.
I told his this show was amazing. He finally saw it last month. Now he wants me to record the entire season!!! He only wishes Marvel was capable of producing a series of such quality (crosses fingers Spider-Man doesn't suck). X-Men evo is starting to get juicy, especially after the Days of Reckoning and the Apocaplypse subplot. That show needed a kick in the ___.

i love both universes, i just learn towards dc because of batman. but bats and spidey are my top 2.

I've "turned people on" to BTAS, STAS, and BB... but no JL. I tried when JL was starting out, and nobody was really interested. I don't blame them.

Hmm, let's see. My Mom watched "In Blackest Night" and "The Brave and the Bold" with me.

I've watched superfriends as a kid, but when I'm abou 13 I didn't like DC at all, and much rather read Hulk, X-Men and Spider man. But then, Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns came along, and changed my whole point of view about DC characters. Add with this, John Byrne's Superman and George Perez's Wonder Woman revamps and I was instantly turned to a DC fan. And today I don't like Marvel anymore. So I guess I could count as an example of a Marvel reader turned into a DC one.
