The first nine were all Superman cartoons from the Fleischer studio:

- Superman
- Mechanical Monsters
- Billion Dollar Limited
- The Arctic Giant
- The Bulleteers
- The Magnetic Telescope
- Electric Earthquake
- Volcano
- Terror On The Midway
- She-Sick Sailor (Popeye/Famous)
- Super-Rabbit (WB)

Terror On The Midway was missing the Paramount logo and its end card.

I love "Electric Earthquake" with the crazy Indian, most likely my favorite of the Superman cartoons. They showed that one all the time on Toonami, "Eleventh Hour" is my second favorite, with "Superman" also being way up there, but I love 'em all!

The 5/12 Acme Hour was actually a best-of-last week, since one of last week's shows (week of April 30-May 4) consisted of Fleischer "Superman" cartoons and the two Looney Tunes Superman spoofs ("Super Rabbit" and "Stupor Duck").

The particular "super show" aired on May 1, and for those of you who did not figure out the reason behind Acme Hour's "super" theme, May 1 marked the release of "Superman: The Movie" on DVD, so this was Cartoon Network's way of saluting the 1978 film's release by presenting "super" cartoons.

The May 1 Acme Hour only included "Superman" and "The Magnetic Telescope" (as the first and last cartoons). The other cartoons shown on the May 1 show were: "Super Rabbit", "She-Sick Sailors", "Stupor Duck", and "Fast and Furry-ous".

Twas a great pity the Acme Hour last night didn't squeeze in a replay of "Stupor Duck". Was hoping... Figured it was the best way to keep Aardvark Ratnik down ;) :p :D

Just watched last night's ACME HOUR!! Wow!! All those great Fleischer SUPERMAN shorts! The only ones I have from when after Dave and Max left.

I also enjoyed seeing 'She-Sick Sailors' with its original opening titles! I can't wait until they restore all the Popeyes!

By the way, any chance I could get my name switched from a 'newbie' to 'member' status? I do contribute to this board on a semi-regular basis. THANKS!!

I had actually purchased a VHS 3 tape set of all of the Paramount Superman cartoons at Borders the day before this Acme Hour aired. Oh, well, I didn't have to worry about rushing to tape Acme Hour.

--I'm surprised "Electric Earthquake" wasn't banned for being offensive to Indians. Surely somebody'll get mad over its showing a red man as a whacked-out scientist scheming to force the U.S. government to give back Manhattan.

Does anyone else think "She-Sick Sailors" is an odd title for a Superman parody? I would have titled it something more fitting, like "Stupor Man" or "The Man of Schpiel" or "Popeye Kicks Bluto's Big Red S". http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/otn/evil/goodnevil.gif

Rating: 8.5 of 11. Unfortunately, many of those Superman cartoons were repeated recently.
