Well, as Vince announced in the news board, the TMNT series is being made into 2-D instead of CGI. I like that; It's better for the turtles to be in 2-D....

As for the movie, it's being done in CGI animation....I guess I can live with that. I wonder if the movie will do good, since the series' success will likely depend on this.

I have to say, as a big turtles fan, I am HAPPY by the prospect of the boys in green making a comeback! I heard that it should be 'gritty' like the original comic book series. I like that! But I HOPE that Fox or KWB will treat this series with respect....it needs it!

What say you on this?

Well if it's going to be a lot closer to the original comics than the last cartoon series than I'd rather have it go straight to CN than land and die on kidsWB or Foxkids since "gritty" doesn't last long on these networks.

Right now I'll just be happy if they can keep out the excessive catchphrases.

Ya know....I just realized that. It'd be scary to see the edited Turtles if they go to one of those two networks...but here's hoping Fox and WB wake up smell the light, and allow it to go like it should be....(exessive laughter is then heard from the audience)...oh, who am I kidding?! We're in trouble....

...okay, I'll come clean. I never read the original comic series, but that's why I'm also interested in the TV series....just to see what the comic was like!

And how can one get tired of Michangelo saying "Cowabunga!" ;) But then again, they need to update the phrases....this isn't the late '80s-early '90s anymore...

The new Turtles series could air on CN, but since it was announced as a Saturday morning cartoon, I doubt CN would pick it up because it wouldn't compete with KWB on Saturdays. Then again, it could air in primetime or whatever. I just have a feeling that it will air on KWB or Fox Kids. There's also the Spiderman CGI series coming out next fall and the possible Ninja Boy series (never read the comic, but it looks cool). That's three comic books to television shows. I'd perfer if Kids' WB! didn't get them, but I doubt CN would pick them all up. But then again...that woud be cool! :)

BTW, I wonder who will be animating the new TMNT series. I'd like either Warner Bros. Animation or Film Roman to animate the series. They'd both do a great job. The fact that they mentioned the Turtles would be like Batman Beyond seemed really cool to me. Fall 2002 can't come soon enough!

Well, personally, i thought the original comic was waaaaaay too dark. I don't really care for my heroic turtles to kill all their villians' henchmen. But somewhere in between would be nice.

And i think they should keep the old 80's lingo. Gives it a nice nostalgic touch. Plus, can you imagine Mikey saying "That's tite dawgs" instead of "Cowabunga, dudes!"? I shudder to think.

[NO WAY, man!! They tried to "update" the lingo in the gawd-awful live-action series, and they said "bada-boom!" which is brain-dead and a thousand times worse! Cowabunga is classic!

Eh....I probably can't see it, living in Canada and not having cable. As long as they don't make it like the Fox live-action series, I'll be happy.

Please don't mention the live-action series....(puts back to viewer, wretching sounds are heard) Venus de Milo? (vomits some more) And since the old live-action series was on Fox, I doubt they have courage to show another Turtles series. So my vote's on KWB to air it.
Maybe you guys are right on the lingo....

I hope it's animated good as well, but my money's on WB animation too make it if it's likely to be on KWB. You know, the obvious conclusion....though those are usually wrong... ;)

BTW, I'm sorry to ya Nightflower, if you can't watch it...

Wait! A NEW Turtles comic?! Can you give us any spoilers? Please? I never kew about this...

I wonder if TMNT will become an obsessive thing once more...the live action series nearly killed that idea....but I'm confident TMNT will rise again. Cowabunga!:D

I don't know many details, but it's supposed to come out early next year from Image Comics. I read it awhile back at Comics Newsarama. I'll try to dig up something.

 Umm, you DO realize the N in TMNT stands for NINJA don't you?? Ninja kill! I absolutely LOVED the original comics for exactly that reason - because it was a much more "adult" feel to it - the animated series wanted to make me puke when it came out - it was so friggin' watered down! Ugh.

It's pretty funny how TMNT came to be. It was just supposed to be a spoof of X-Men comics (mutants) and Daredevil (ninjas), which were very popular at the time. And look what it went on to become!

The first season or so of the animated TMNT describes what I want. Original, witty, quick. I don't know about the whole killing people thing, because yeah I like dark stories. But not EVERY hero(s) should be Batman. You can have an adult like show that expands to an extremely broad audiance. The old, calm, confident and wise Master Splinter took the role of ninja on a tangent by introducing a notion that not all trained ninjas need to use their training for evil and mercenary purposes.

I say keep the regular dialogue, just watch out for the repetetive commercial aspect of it. For example, the points mentioned above about crazy sentences you wouldn't be able to find in our culture anymore. But, also refrain from jumping to the other extreme and making the turtles say "what up dawg" and such.

I have faith in the movie, thanks to Mr. Woo. And I have faith that there are fans behind the show, and these people will work their arses off to make sure they have each specific tied down. The right animation studio, the right network, etc. And please, no KidsWB or FoxKids. They and I've had a falling out. :p

What's interesting is that Peter, one of the Turtles creators said that they ahd to wait a couple of years so that the kids who watched Turtles "grew up." Looks like they have an idea of which way they want to take it, and I can't wait to see it.

Interesting. Very interesting actually. Admitedly most of the old TMNT fad was light-see the toys and TV show as examples. I'm sorry, but to me this is rather clever and bring the TMNT back to us in a new form we would like once more...since today's culture glosses over the dark.

For the phrase of Michelangelo, COWABUNGA!! I hope it's on CN or Kids' WB, because "the mean green team" will take what is theirs away from those P*wer Rangers. I remember when the Space Power Rangers join forces with the Ninja Turtles, it was lame when the P*wer Ranger and Ninja Turtles are fighting together.

To the phrase of Pepper Mills, AH AH HA!!! Ninja Turtles are coming back! AH AH HA!!!
