Folks --

I am new to this list; all I can say is that I cannot imagine life without Warner Brothers cartoons, and spent my childhood obsessively chronicling them from the TV screen, taking notes, making lists, writing plot summaries.

Things are easier nowadays with video and Cartoon Network (and this week, Rhino!). But, one question I have always had:

Who did the voice of the spider in MEATLESS FLYDAY?

Yep, though people long speculated that the pathetically hungry spider was voiced by none-other-than the great departed Tex Avery! It is as close to a Tex voice as they could get though!

It's really a cross between Avery's voice and Hal Perry's Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve, which Jones based his floorwalker/taxidermist charcter on in "Hare Conditioned." Alex Lovy used the same voice for the cop in the Woody Woodpecker cartoon "The Screwball."
