They're gonna have Shredder out of costume as Saki, very cool.
I like how Laird pointed out that they've toned down Mikey. I loved Mikey as a kid, but a lot of his lines were just stereotypical surfer dude talk, I like that they're maturing him for the new feel of the show, but there are so many questions I'd love to have answered.

1) Will Oroku Nagi be in the show? For those that don't know, Nagi was Hamato Yoshi's arch-rival and the one that they competed for that chicks hand in marriage and so forth. When Nagi got pissed he went after Yoshi and his wife, much like the TMNT Movie (except!). Yoshi ended up fighting and killing Nagi, fearing that he'd be killed because of it, him and his wife fled to America. NOW, Oroku Saki, or The Shredder, became the new assassin of the Foot when he was 18 I think, and went to America to run things here, and to get revenge on Yoshi.

2) Just how dark will the show be allowed to be? I personally would love Ninja Turtles with a Batman feel to it. If they aren't allowed to say "kill" "die" or "death" it's just gonna be a re-vamp of the old "laser shooting" "parachute having" cartoons where the bad guys always said "Eliminate Them! "Destroy them" etc etc. I wouldn't mind a few innuendo one liners along the lines of "Animaniacs" with Mikey either.

And so many more, jesus, you have no idea how much memories this is bringing back. TMNT has always been my favorite show, I hated what CBS did to it when the last few eps were around the bend with Dregg and how they could all mutate further. I wont even GET into that live action garbage.

Don't get me wrong, I got nothing against live action turtles, TMNT 2 :The secret of the ooze, remains my #2 favorite movie for almost a decade now. Listen to me, I'm rambling like a 8 year old. Ahh, Ninja Turtles for the new age.

Ya know, Peter Laird may not be the mind behind Heavy Metal (sucks) and he may not have Julie Strain as a wife, but he's my hero from now on.

Heroes in a half shell, turtle power.

Sweet. Even if new viewer's aren't familiar with the comics or the original series, it sounds like anyone who's seen the first TMNT movie will be able to catch on quick.

Sounds great so far.

Looks like it's more of the movie in animated form.

One question. Will they have their respective color bandanas like the movies and cartoon.

Leo-Blue
Donny-Purple
Raph-Red
Mikey-Orange

That was one of the things I hated about the comics was that they all wore red and you couldn't tell who was who unless they said their names.

Thank god, no Rocksteady and Bebop. But as for Krang... I think he could be cool. I could see Krang in a role similar to Darkseid in S:TAS, supplying Shredder w/ futuristic weapons.

Rocksteady and Bepop will be truly missed in the new series, they were brillant!

Krang in a way, is in the new cartoon, the aliens are based on his character...

Huzzah !

This all looks very promising, but just as when people constantly bad mouth a show before it even appears (coughteentitanscough), I'll wait to see how it's all executed. Nonetheless, I'm excited. :D

April O'Neil looks hot, but she should not be showing so much skin. She almost looks like a red-haired Britney Spears wannabe.

Casey Jones looks good. But give him his hockey mask! Jeez!!!

Sweet. I expect a fight with Casey and Donatello over April's hand. :D

From the overview, it looks like they are trying to play off the series exactly from the comic book and the first movie, which is a very good idea. I actually liked the end of the first series with the new mutations, but I've always felt that point is where they should have brought in the TGRI aliens. I think they should have kept some details out, like the fact that the Foot are much tougher, and the possible love interests among the heroes (seeing is believing). Good stuff so far, though.

Later.

I sorta agree. Everyone looks really good, but she looks like she wandered in from X-Men: Evolution. Is she still a reporter, or have they made her a teenager to make her more "relatable" to viewers?

I dont know the whole details, but supposedly in Eastman and Lairds comics she never became a reporter until much later if she became one at all. What she really wanted to do was to become a writer and was never as old as she was in the original cartoon. Originally I think she was a black female and the makers of the original changed her because they didnt think a black female in a lead role would do well. Go fig >=\

At any rate - I assume that Peter Laird kept her as a white female with red hair to keep those who were familiar only with cartoon continuity from being confused.

Nah. In the comics she was white.

I have one other question that hit me last night. Does anyone know if they'll scream out? Cowabunga!

Ugh. Surely it won't be that bad. Even the original cartoon was better than that.

No way. The first movie was just about the best TMNT incarnation ever. And to whoever asked about April's job in the new series, I don't know if you saw this on the actual site:

April will not begin the show as a reporter, but as a lab assistant to the mad scientist, Baxter Stockman (just like she was in the original comic books).Oh, and it's Baxter Stockman who is black, not April (I noticed some confusion earlier, but Ordinary Guy is right; she was always caucasian).

Shoot. It didn't quote the quote.

That sounds neat. That way April will have a logical reason to be involved with the Turtles, instead of just being their buddy or something boring (I still think she looks like the cousin of Evolution's Jean Grey, though).

Definitely happy with the direction they wanna go, in terms of writing. Now if they could just get a better theme song.

This looks SO AWESOME!!! Did I read that right, Saki has a public face as a wealthy busninessman? Awesome! The style looks very nice and striking. Oh, and SHREDDER LOOKS AWESOME!!! I'm sorry, I'm stuck in a rut on that word, but it's so appropriate! I can't WAIT until Feb.

They could always make April one of those new reporters. Interns, college major in reporting, the list is endless.

I was too young at the time to really remember too much about the storylines or actual plot movement during the course of the show anymore, sadly, but I loved the Turtles(still have all of the action figures I had back then) and am eagerly anticipating this new show. It looks like it's going to be awesome. I'm literally jumping up and down in glee simply from reading the overview.

I'm sort of going to miss Krang, but I can understand why they made the decisions they have and look forward to seeing a more comic-influenced show. After reading TMNT #1 on ninjaturtles.com, it gives me a whole new appreciation for the backstory. The new character designs are great, too. Man, I can't wait for this. I feel five again just reading this stuff.

Doubt that would ever happen since they seem to be wanting to take this as far away from the original show as they can. But I'm guessing they'll probably end up making some injokes to the original TMNT series, kind of like certain episodes of Batman/Beyond did towards the campy live-action show. Can almost see the new April making a joke about how she'd never be caught wearing yellow, or something silly like that. Things like this could be cool, long as they don't go overboard with it.
