Ironic... Hasbro didn't think twice about making neon colored Batmans but when they could've rehashed the Manbat (very awesome figure in the first place) with pink/red neon colored pants for "Womanbat" they didn't. At least then it would've technically been a "new" character." :D (Actually when I was younger I kept waiting for a "Womanbat" figure to pop up on the pegs)
Anyways,
I really liked this episode, last time I saw this they were still airing the series on Fox Kids. It was even more cool to see since last night I got the BTAS DVD and saw the Manbat episode on that. Some good animation on it and I always liked it when he would use his Batcycle and his cool helmet for it.
4 Stars. :)

I gave it 4 1/2 stars. They set it up like there are only 2 suspects and then twist it around to make 3. I have nothing but praise for this episode (except for the absence of a DVD with it). There's definite closure without the typical hint of a return, but you get the typical tradition of great storytelling and animation.

"The nightmare's finally over." - Dr. Kirk Langstrom, Terror in the Sky
Geez, I guess hardly anyone ended up seeing this one. I thought this was a pretty good episode. It was nice they got another shot out of a one-shot villain.
It was nice how they used all the characters and the voices from the first episode, the two really tied together nicely. I liked how Dr. March finally lost his stubbornness after he realized what he had accidentally done to his daughter. Burning the file spoke volumes about how it affected him. The best thing is how it's Kurt that saves Francine and not Batman. Not all heroes wear masks. :)
I didn't quite see the reasoning behind the snow. My guess is a writer or animator said "Let's do one in the winter, we haven't done that for a while."
It made the first confrontation with the "She-Bat" much more interesting, but I couldn't come up with a good reason for Bats to be riding around in the Bat-Cycle. Especially in the cold weather. Plus later he needs to use the Bat-Wing so we didn't even see the Batmobile this time around.
While it was still kind of a shock to find that Kirk isn't the Man-Bat this time around there is still the matter of the pink pants it is wearing. It may be a surprise to a 10-year-old, but event that pushes it. That's why the first scene is the best, she's wearing her pajama bottoms and it looks like the old version, you're actually thinking Kirk is back.
If there is one thing Kirk Langstrom wants to do it's forget that terrible time when he changed into a giant Man-Bat and went around hurting people, especially his wife Francine. He didn't hurt her physically like the guard at Phoenix Labs, but emotionally as he spun out of control and started changing more and more until he no longer had control. The beast itself had taken over. Batman was able to conquer the Man-Bat and return Langstrom to normal. When he returned Kirk to his wife little did he know how right he was when he said,
"It's over, for now."
Imagine Kirk Langstrom's horror when he sees the clawed rug in his bedroom, the memories that haunted him have returned to torture him once more. Is he the Man-Bat again? If he is, he doesn't remember doing anything, but he can't go through hurting Francine again—he throws the rug in the trash the first chance he gets.
Francine finds the discarded carpet and confronts her husband the same time Batman shows up. Kirk can't defend himself against two people and his wife runs out as Batman roughs him up, demanding an explanation. As Langstrom deals with the pain of the Man-Bat destroying his life yet again, Batman does some investigating of his own and comes to find that Kirk Langstrom is not the Man-Bat!
After confronting Francine's father, Dr. March, the Dark Knight finds that Mrs. Langstrom is the creature just as Kirk has gone to tell her that he is not. Francine causes chaos on the plane and Batman has to put a stop to it. She flies off with Kirk as the Bat-Wing gives pursuit. Once the She-Bat changes back into Francine she slips on the wet snow, after being thrown around Batman is in no shape to save her—to be the hero. This duty falls to Kirk, who grabs his wife before she plummets to her death and vows to never let her go again.
Batman will battle on, but for the Langstroms, the nightmare is truly over.

The unofficial sequel to "On Leather Wings" was exceptional. This was a true detective story from Batman: The Animated Series.
I can honestly say that I never thought that his wife was the Man-Bat. I never even suspected. A very good surprise. :)
Some animated Batman episodes can prove boring and predictable. This was definately not one of them. :)

Ehh, this one was okay.
I prefer the story they based this episode on in the comics: The Frank Robbins penned and drawn story 'Man-bat over Vegas'. It's cheezy, but it has such a great twist in the end. Plus, can't beat that it's set in Vegas! :)

Hell yea...the ManBat one was awesome. Who woulda thought it was the wife. I thought it was her creepy dad when the ep started...it was such a good ep. Nice to see Bats as the detective that he is, I've missed that about him. And putting in the bat cycle in a snow storm, different touch that was was a good change.
And at the end, when the wife and guy are on the bridge tower hugging and they show Bats just walking away...that was such a Bats moment...kinda felt it for him...good ep all around!!

Yeah...so I just randomly ended up watching this episode tonight...and about that ending...
Did it not occur to the creators that Batman STRANDED Kirk and Francine on top of that bridge tower!?!? He just jumps in his batwing and leaves them there in the cold winter night. In about five minutes, after they finish hugging each other, they're gonna be in for a mean surprise. Just how are they supposed to get down from there?

Superman? :p I dont know, but he didn't just ditch them there, I'm sure he radioed somebody, assuming they hadnt already decided to investigate the mid-air battle. :p I give this episode ****, it was really entertaining, not as good as "On Leather Wings", but it was good nonetheless, and I, too, was surprised by his wife being the Man-Bat this time, I never saw it coming, but then, I was 7 when I first saw it. :D

DVD Bump!
I really enjoyed this episode. I liked it when just before the train smashes the batcycle Batman goes,"The end of a perfect day." He was pretty banged up when we saw him in the Batcave later.

I liked this episode, the fight at the end was pretty good and I liked how they made Man-bat into She-bat by making Francine into the monster and making it a mystery instead of Kirk being Man-bat again. It made the episode more interesting and fun to watch as you tried to figure out who the creature was!

I didn't quite see the reasoning behind the snow. My guess is a writer or animator said "Let's do one in the winter, we haven't done that for a while."
My guess is with this being a follow up to On Leather Wings, they wanted a visual setting that stood out from that episode, so doing it in the snow wasn't too bad an idea.
I thought this was a pretty good follow up to On Leather Wings. Not as good as the fore mentioned but good none the less. It was nice to see some of Batman's work resulted in a happy ending for some people. Especially if I Am The Night is anything to go by.
