I was just watching it.

BTW Is it just me or does Zeta seem less chearful in that episode then he does in his normal series?

Dollars to donuts the network execs said "Hey, kids can't identify with a robot with a horseshoe for a head! Give that guy a face!"

I actually liked the horseshoe head look, but I think I'm one of the few.

They figured that if they were gonna make a whole series about Zeta, they were gonna have to give him a face for emotion. I personally like the new Zeta better. In the Batman Beyond "Zeta", they zoom up on the horseshoe head during an important moment to try to show that Zeta has realized something impotant, if you know what I mean. I found that kinda corny...

--what did the tin man do? Rebuild his own noggin from scratch? Presumably he can repair minor structural damage with his internal maintenance system (maybe the one cool thing about the series, besides Ro), so why not steal a few spare parts and give himself a face lift?
Though the original Zeta was darker and more self-doubting. In his series, he's disturbingly childlike and naive. Though maybe girls like Ro go for guys like that....

Yes! Feel sympathy for that horseshoe head!

Hello! I'm new here... well, I've been browsing around the forum but I didn't get around to joining until today... Okay, so I'm lazy sometimes!
*ahem* Anyway, I like Zeta's new head. Sure, the horseshoe head made him look more robotic, but the new one gives him more of a personality. And yes... I love TZP. *waits for boos and the throwing of large objects* I can see why most BB fans don't, because it doesn't have the dark atmosphere of the Batman cartoons, but it's still a cute show. :) ...Don't hurt me.

Welcome to the board, Imajine! That's an awesome handle, BTW. Anywyas, his 'new' face is definatly beter becuase we get to see emotion. His horseshoe head I found a bit laughable. This new one is good. Although his mouth is sorta funky...it's just a flap.

LOL!

Welcome to the boards. I think most of us got our anti-TZP feelings out quite a while ago, so the garbage barrage shouldn't be too heavy. ;) And there's actually a few around here who do like TZP.

Welcome Imajine!!! I don't really care for either head. The horseshoe one lacked emotion, but his new one just seems to big and long and just makes him look weird, imo.

But, lest i be mistakin', his design in BB matched that of the everyday-run-of-the-mill-synthoids. I'm pretty sure from Terry's Friend Dates A Robot. But it has been awhile...

Oh, good, I thought I might be the only Zeta fan on this board! :D Thank goodness there are more. Do you have a Zeta site? If so, I'll link it to mine!

I completely agree with Tuffy Cat's first post about the new head that actually has a face. I felt the exact same way. Although I do like the less naive versian of Zeta's personality that we found in the BB episode.

Plus, since the episode premiered I've been refering to the old no face head as "bicycle handle bars" head, or something like that....except shorter... :p

Seriously though, yeah to have a close up on something that's SUPPOSED TO be a face probably won't have as much impact if the person doesn't have a face! Just common logic I guess. :D

I understand the reasons for making the change, but over all I think I preferred the "handle bars" head. It was nice to see some recognition that a robot (particularly one with that hologram technology) doesn't need a head that looks like a human's.

Nope, I don't have the time or the computer skills to set up a website. If I ever do, I'll let you know though. I did check out yours though...pretty cool! :)
