It's time again for our third round of the B/S/BB Trivia Quiz! We're just about to hit 30 pages on the last one, so let us veer our posts over to this one. Currently it is M'Ral's turn to ask the next question. Go M'ral!

Oh hell, as much as I'd love to usher in the new thread with a new question, I can't think of anything, so question's up for grabs.

OK, it's an easy one, but here we go. Name all the Bat-villains that have taken on Superman or anyone else from Metropolis.

Aggggg! I'm having a memory lapse. Right off I know Ras Al Ghul took on Superman in "The Demon Reborn", and the Joker tried to kill Superman in "Worlds Finest". That's probaly not all so I'll keep thinking.
The Detective
11-22-2002, 03:15 PM
All right now I'm remembering. In "Knight Time" Superman impersonated Batman and in the process took on Penguin, The Riddler, Bane, and The Mad Hatter. I'm still thinking. Let me no if I've got em all. Oh yeah, Talia took out Lois Lane, and Superman too if you're want to count her seperate from Ras Al Ghul. Oh and count Harley too with the Joker.

Let's see. IIRC, Supes encountered Joker & Harley (WF), Bane, Riddler, Mad Hatter, Penguin (as Batman), and Roxy Rocket (Knight Time), Ras Al Ghul & Talia(The Demon Reborn), Supergirl took on Harley and Ivy (Girl's Night Out w/ Batgirl), Talia took out Lois (TDR). I think that's it. Oh, and Inque in BB.

k. hmmmm.....in TAS how did bruce find out barbras secret identity.
Barb Gordon
11-23-2002, 07:13 PM
I think how he figured it out in BTAS was that only someone who was the daughter of the commisioner would be fighting so hard to clear his name (Shadow of the Bat). Thus, Barbara Gordon had to be Batgirl. As if the fiery red hair wasn't a big enough clue.... :p

This sounds like a trick question to me. The only real explanation we get is in TNBA's Old Wounds, where he classically says, "I make it my business to know."
That being said, I've got my own theories. For example, he did see her in action as Barbara in Heart of Steel II, and for an expert like him, "Fighting styles are like fingerprints." I'm sure there are all sorts of other clues that a fan could infer Batman uses, but trivia is supposed to be based on fact, not inference.
Or am I totally wrong? Is there a blatant reference I'm missing?
Comic Book Boy
11-23-2002, 09:03 PM
No people! I'm looking for one particular reason that proves it and clearly shows that she is Batgirl how did bruce find out?
Barb Gordon
11-23-2002, 09:58 PM
Seems like a pretty broad and biased question in the sense that every person is going to have a different reason for how Bruce knew Barbara's other identity. If it's not the cartoon, I know there was an animated comic that explained how Bruce figured it out. He and Barbara had been playing tennis and she kept opening her right side or something. Later on Batman and Batgirl are fighting some goons and he sees that she keeps opening up her right side. From that he knew it was Barbara. As far as the animated series goes, my statement is correct for BTAS and murmur's is correct for TNBA. Besides that, all I can think of is the red hair thing after Robin and ripped off a part of the back of her cowl.

funfun. And I didn't mean to make you sad or anything, but it's always good to try and be as clear as possible for questions. Stating whether it involves BTAS and TNBA or just one, whether you could be referring to one of the animated movies, etc. And most of the animated comic question are now being asked over at the animated comic trivia thread. So which part that I said was actually right? I'll have a new question up tomorrow folks, bit swamped with a paper for the rest of this night.

Since Barb's not online, I'll step in and confirm it for you. In 'Dead Man's Hand' Terry gave it to Melanie Walker (Ten) during their date and she walked off with it, then while he was being stood up by her the next night, he was wearing it again.
But I'll also up that ante - Terry gave his jacket to a homeless man in 'Bloodsport' after the Stalker had doused him with an invisible substance that could only be seen by through an infrared(?) lense. As far as we know the homeless man never gave it back to him, but he was wearing it later.
Anyway I'm sure yours is the one she was thinking of, so go for it!

AFAIK, the Batmobile is not actually thrashed in The Mechanic. You got Bane right though. Hint: the other episode is not in BTAS. Someone can feel free to jump in though and tell me I'm wrong about The Mechanic...The requirement is that the car is thrashed and its owner takes personal offense.

Okay, close enough. The episode was "Golem" and it was Nelson Nash getting his sportscar, which he loved more than anything or anybody (except perhaps himself), mutilated by the Golem (controlled by Willie Watt) as he pleaded for it to stop.
DarkLamtern got the first episode more accurately, but DarkKnight guessed the BB episode, which is usually harder to guess...

Bruce says in amazement, "So many actors!" Alfred responds, "I wish I could help you, Master Bruce, but I don't watch television. I prefer my fireplace." Of course, he wasn't being entirely truthful...how many times has Alfred watched news programs and alerted Bruce to any brewing crises?

Oh, you mean like Tasia Valenza as "Miriam" in the episode "Baby Doll"? While the episode didn't really say who Miriam was (I assumed she was the TV show mom)?
Or do you mean Oficer Montoya being credited in "The Forgotten" -- though the error was due to listing the credits of "POV" by mistake.

DL If memory serves that was actually just an error during this run on CN. It really should have been "POV" that aired and that was probably part of the error. There was an NBA playoffs logo in there for cryin' out loud.

PRE-TWO-FACE
-On Leather Wings
-Pretty Poison
-Two-Face (Pt. 1)
POST-TWO-FACE
-Two-Face (Pt. 2) (in dream sequences)
-Vendetta (on the Batcomputer in famous newspaper pic of he and Bruce in PRETTY POISON)
-Heart of Ice (same pic on Batcomputer)
-House and Garden (same pic, but this time on Ivy's photo album)
-Second Chance (flashback to TWO-FACE, Pt. 1)
OK, so that makes eight episodes. Is that all you were looking for?

12-26-2002, 04:16 PM
I don't recall Bats being in a construction site for On Leather Wings. But for sure he was in MOTP. He was up in the building that was being constructed and gets hit badly a few times. Think he's bleeding from his mouth and shoulder. That was when he used a work horse bench thing to fool the cops in order to escape, then has a getaway via Andrea.....man I have that memorized too well.
~Barb

TimTwoFace

Batman and construction sites don't mix. First there was the infamous MASK OF THE PHANTASM scene (which rocked), but let's not forget the fight-in-flight in ON LEATHER WINGS, where Batman finally captures Man-Bat once and for all. :)
Regardless, Batman bled both times.
So...Frank, Darkknight, since you both got 50% of the question, the next one to get here can yoink the question-giving opportunity out of my hands.

...this wasn't from LOVE IS A CROC, is it? It really sounds like something dumb Baby-Doll would say, and I can't recall her saying something like this in her origin episode.

Okay, this has got to have something to do with Mighty Mom, aka Lisa Lorraine...probably the story about her abduction. I remember Robin reading it aloud: "TV Personality Lisa Lorraine was abducted from her home early this evening" or something to that effect. Am I getting close?

Ooooh, good call, M'ral - I didn't even think of that. And considering the Condiment King did the quote, and we know he adores that episode... :p

Quotes? Um, Tim, are you sure you're on the right thread? The question is
In "Make 'Em Laugh", what is the headline on the newspaper that Batman reads after catching the Pack Rat?
The Penguin

Wait I think it might be "Rally to be held for Gordon" or something like that. A nod to "Shadow of the Bat."
I'll need CK to tell me I'm right though. :)

Where's Condiment King? It's been like four days since he online. And I really need to get with him on the Green Lantern RPG.

Sorry, guys! I had to study for a competition all day Friday and then I went to said competition all day Saturday. Now I am back to the real world which is TZ though. :p

Definately close, M'ral! Just give me the headline. That is the story. :)
Wait I think it might be "Rally to be held for Gordon" or something like that. A nod to "Shadow of the Bat."
Nope. It seems there has been great confusion about that which I will clear. That headline was on the paper Mighty Mom read at her hotel before Joker gassed her. And if you play your tape slowly, you can hear The Riddler's commercial from "Riddler's Reform". So many good little easter eggs in the greatest ep in B:TAS history. :p

That's simple.
"Famous Comidienne Kidnapped"
in smaller lettering under that it says "Comedy Competition may be postponed".
EDIT: After Batman nabbed the Pack Rat (lol), Batman and Robin rolled into the Batcave on the Batmobile, and Robin made a comment about two comedians being kidnapped. Alfred chimes in and says three, and shows the newspaper headline to the Dynamic Duo... the kidnapped comedian is Lisa Loraine, who the Joker eventually turns into "Mighty Mom".

My bad... here it is!
In "Shadow of the Bat, part 2", Two-Face instructs Mason to meet him at a location to identify "Matches Malone". Robin and Batgirl find out where Mason is headed, and their encounter with Two-Face and his thugs eventually culminates into a conflict. Where do they meet? (I'm looking for a specific answer...)

Excellent. Ok, here it is:
List all the episodes in which The Joker appears without Harley Quinn
In this i include BTAS, TNBA, and any animated movie. FYI: i've counted 9 :D
M'ral
01-08-2003, 12:13 AM
Hmm, let's see...
MASK OF THE PHANTASM
CHRISTMAS WITH THE JOKER
THE LAST LAUGH
BE A CLOWN
MAKE 'EM LAUGH
THE STRANGE SECRET OF BRUCE WAYNE
OLD WOUNDS
JOKER'S WILD (unless you count the fake Harleys in the casino)
LEGENDS OF THE DARK KNIGHT (if you count the Dick Sprang-style Joker)
FEAR OF VICTORY (the Arkham cameo)
FIRE FROM OLYMPUS (again, an Arkham cameo)
DREAMS IN DARKNESS (several of Batman's hallucinations)
HOLIDAY KNIGHTS (although Harley did appear in that episode, she was with Poison Ivy, and the Joker was working solo)
BATMAN BEYOND: RETURN OF THE JOKER (although the Joker was working with Harley in the flashback, he returns alone)
I think that's all of them. A few more than you asked for, but I wanted to make sure I got them all. :D
TimTwoFace
01-08-2003, 01:37 AM
Hmmm...did you mean the Joker doesn't appear in any scenes that also feature Harley, or that Harley wasn't featured in any of those stories AT ALL whatsoever?
I'll go with the latter description. Here goes:
Mask of the Phantasm - no sign of Harley at all. And thank goodness, too; she didn't belong in that movie. Joker was awesome alone.
Be A Clown
The Last Laugh
Fear of Victory - Joker was in the Arkham cameo, Harley was not.
I've Got Batman in my Basement - There was a Joker poster in the kids' basement, and no sign of Harley.
The Forgotten - Joker appeared in a dream sequence, no Harley present.
Dreams in Darkness - Same as above.
The Strange Secret of Bruce Wayne
Christmas with the Joker
Birds of a Feather - The Joker used to be featured on a TV screen during Summer's news reports, but this has been cut from the episode since my first viewing. Harley wasn't in this episode.
Fire From Olympus - Joker appeared in Arkham as "Merry Hermes", Harley wasn't there.
Riddler's Reform - Joker appears in Arkham while Riddler is screaming at the end. Harley isn't shown.
Batgirl Returns - No sign of Harley in Batgirl's "dream sequence".
Old Wounds
Legends of the Dark Knight
Oh, and I DIDN'T put JOKER'S WILD on my list, because even though a lot of Harleys were at the casino (and I wouldn't count them), when Batman looks through Kaiser's file on the Joker, there are pics of Harley present. Hence, they were together.
So, that makes 15 Joker appearances without Harley present.

Can't think of much else so...
Name 3 significant Dr. characters from Batman and/or Batman Beyond and the episodes that each one stared in.
(Just so we have no confusion, for a "Dr. character" the syntax would obviously be: Dr. *insert name here* )
Barb Gordon

Let's see...
Dr. Hugo Strange in The Strange Secret of Bruce Wayne
Dr. Emile Dorian in Tyger.Tyger
hmmm, there's The Doc in April Moon
Can't think of any others for the moment.

The question has probably already been answered, but what about Dr. Bartholemeu? You know, the head clinical psychologist of Arkham Asylum (i think, its been a while). We saw a quite a bit of him in "Dreams in Darkness" and "Lock-up".
M'ral
01-08-2003, 07:16 PM
There's also Dr. Stephanie Lake (the doctor who gave Mr. Freeze a new body in MELTDOWN), Dr. Joan Leeland (the doctor at Arkham who was assigned to Harley Quinn), Dr. Harleen Quinzel (I don't think I have to explain that one! :harley: ), Dr. Long (head honcho of the psychology department of Gotham State University), Dr. Leslie Thompkins, Dr. Matthew Thorne (the "Crime Doctor" from PAGING THE CRIME DOCTOR), Dr. Thomas Wayne, Drs. Kirk and Francine Langstrom, Dr. March (Francine Langstrom's father)...the possibilities are endless! :D

In which episodes of Batman Beyond did Terry beat Bruce to the solution?

None that I recall! :p

He did in "Babel" but that is the only one I can think of.
katfairy
01-09-2003, 01:43 PM
Hint: there are at least three others that I know of. Though, to be fair, in one of those Bruce wasn't even trying and in another he had a little bit of a handicap to work against.
There's also ROTJ, "Disappearing Inque", "April Moon", and then all the times where Terry figured it out on his own.
katfairy
01-09-2003, 04:00 PM
ROTJ is one of the three I mentioned. I don't know if "Disappearing Inque" really counts since they knew who the villain was from the start, and I don't really know how "April Moon" would fit in here. Also, I'm not counting episodes where Bruce doesn't appear, for obvious reasons.
So far we have, out of four episodes (by my count):
Babel , in which Terry spots the tuning-fork towers and realises that is exactly what they're being used for. Bruce didn't pick up on it until after Terry left. (Not the first time Bruce has come in second on picking up musical clues- a gap in his knowledge, perhaps?)
ROTJ , in which Terry figures out that the Joker must be connected to Tim Drake because of the trashed costume. Bruce refused to consider the possibility until he had no choice.
Two more to go!
BeastBoyWonder
01-09-2003, 05:51 PM
One was probably "Shreik", where Bruce was in the psychiatric ward when Terry found out about Acoustium and Shreeve laboratories and all that other good stuff...
katfairy
01-10-2003, 09:47 AM
Yep, "Shriek" was one of them, and that's the one I was referring to as him working under a bit of a handicap. The only one left is the one where he wasn't even trying.
Calico
01-10-2003, 09:55 AM
Are you thinking of 'Revenant' where Terry figures out it's Willie Watt?
Bruce: "It's just so...high school." Love that line
