Anybody here, apart from me, actually like this film? It was mauled badly when it was released, but I didn't think it was too bad. Sure, it goes downhill rapidly once Kim Basinger rears her... I hesitate to say 'ugly'... head, but I thought the animation was great - and Holly Wood blew mw away!

Great soundtrack, too...

"Cool World" sounds familiar. Is that the movie about a cartoonist who dies an end up in an animated cartoon world? I remember seeing something lie that when I was much younger.

Yep, that's the one! Not sure if he dies though, but it's been a while since I've seen it...

Yes, I've seen it. The cartoonist doesn't die. Like a Messiah figure, he is transfigured and becomes an animated superhero--although Holly isn't impressed by him. She only used him to become real. Isn't that always the way with dames? Interesting take, also, on why animated characters shouldn't have relations with humans--the lines between flesh and paint tend to blur. Cool World turns up periodically on USA....

I saw part of it on Sci Fi just the other day. Holly was...nicely drawn.

Had a lot of outstanding animation, good color, backgrounds, and a lot of interesting bits, story was weak, and unfortunately, did not hold together very well. Only saw it once.

I saw it, but didn't really like it. The main characters (Jack and Holly) were both jerks who ended up getting what they deserved, but I just don't care to watch an entire movie about jerks.

I also didn't like the mix of animation styles--rotoscoped perfect bodies mixed with extremely toony character designs of every type. And Cool World appeared to be basically a dark and dirty place--not at all what I would picture for a toon universe. I prefer the Roger Rabbit toon world.

I am glad you brought that one up...so much of that was absoulutely great..You are right on with it being a better film.. There is one bit, in Roger Rabbit, in toon town, where the star is looking for the beautiful gal, they are right on top of the building, he opens the door, and there is the ugliest woman you can think of, he falls thru an open door in further pursuit, and the madness continues.....A tribute to Tex Avrey's "Red Hot Riding Hood" almost the same bit... Roger Rabbit was much better and much funier too ..excellent point.
