View Full Version : Movie financial success?
What do you think are the most important elements in making a movie financially successful? So many good ones fail, and some not so good ones, make a lot of money...How about your opinion....My attitudes do not reflect the rest of toonzone, but sadly, one of my favorites, "The Iron Giant" just died at the box office....I think it broke even after theater sales of videos and DVDs You tell me, cause I haven't the faintest idea...Oh, by the way , "You stay, I go." Well, financial sucess is based on, if I am correct, if it makes a profit after the costs are figured in (both production and advertising). Its an even larger financial success if it has longevity (more than a couple weeks at the top 10). Many movies now tend to make their budgets back within 2 weeks, but a real success is when it stays in the top 10 for at least a month, because it gauages the fact that its still raking in money for the studio (because people are still seeing it).
for instance: LOTR:FOTR Was still making money in the US 3 MONTHS after its release. It had already made back its budget long before, but it was still bringing people in.
Yes, I wanted the Iron Giant to do well too... Ah well.
