I'm assuming that CN won't air Bosko because he's a black person, but you can't even tell that he is. He looks more like an ape and talks in a Mickey Mouse voice (he's basically a Mickey Mouse rip-off). Wouldn't people just think he was an ape rather than a black guy?

I personally think that Cartoon Network will at some point show the Bosko cartoons on their channel, and considering all the suggestions that we sent to Mr.Gak, of ideas for "Toonheads" a good majority had Bosko in them, and I hope that we sent a very strong messsage to him and CN to finally bring Bosko (and Buddy) back on tv.
There is nothing wrong with the B&W Bosko cartoons, none whatsoever, they are not offensive in anyway, since he speaks, looks, and acts like Mickey Mouse there is no reason that these classic cartoons can't be shown again on tv.It was Leon Schlesinger's request that Bosko acts and looks like the famous mouse, and Leon knew that was the only way, that they (Warner Bros.) could compete with Disney, and that's what the series successful for the studio.
But Cartoon Network really has to realize that these cartoons will not offend anyone, and it's a major chance that have to take.
Actually, I don't think CN has copies of the Bosko cartoons, or the Buddys for that matter. They've given us little bits of Speedy, a far more obvious Mexican character than Bosko is a black character. I think that CN would give us a little if they had it, and it has been hinted that CN doesn't own prints of every cartoon.
But really WB/CN/whoever, Bosko doesn't even remotely resemble a black boy. He bore so much of a resemblance to apes and monkeys that later merchandise showed him with a tail...

I just think it's hilarious how they show the Animaniacs cartoons, who are based on the early '30s-era black and white blob characters who could easily pass for blackface caricatures if they didn't have tails, big ears, and red noses, and yet no Bosko. I'm not a huge fan of Bosko or Buddy, but I'd like to be able to see them if I wanted to. (I bought a tape with about three of the post-Warners Bosko and it's amazing how they transformed him. But since CN has shown other Harman-Ising productions outside of WB stuff, the style isn't that amazing. I just find it shocking that they took him from such a vague black dot and turned him into such an obvious stereotypical character. The cartoons were also very lame, might I add. Well animated, but they were almost the same cartoon three times with several things always appearing in all of them. The storyline was the same in all of them, and I'm sure the opening sequences were just reused.)
