the great Looney race...who would win?

Here's a question that was brought up a lot years ago on the old TTTP, but I have not seen it recently. Disregarding the outcome of the actual cartoons, who do you think would win a race with all of these characters?

I definitely went with the Road Runner. Here is a character so fast, he can take telephone poles with him, burn bridges, cause pavement to ripple, and sets highways ablaze. Not even Speedy can do that (though he does race from one end of Mexico to the other in a second flat in "West of the Pesos" and also has a pavement-rippling effect on roads in "A Message to Gracias"). Bugs wouldn't come in first but I hope, for once, he would beat Cecil (like others, it always sorta bugged me how Bugs never came out a hero in the Bugs Vs. Cecil Trilogy). Rapid Rabbit, in his lone cartoon, never struck me as being especially fast (he doesn't ripple pavement or burn up roads); I actually found him to outwit his enemy, Quick Brown Fox, more with his cunning than with his speed. So, he'd probably come in last.

Here's how I'd call it.

First place - Road Runner
Second place - Speedy Gonzales
Third place - Bugs Bunny
Fourth Place - Cecil Turtle
Fifth Place - Rapid Rabbit

You brought up a good point, Matt. Then again, in "The Wild Chase" Speedy looked like he was ahead of the Road Runner. I do have to agree with Dacp3 that Cecil would probably win though, because he has a way of outwitting people no matter how fast they are. But they say cheater's never win so....
Hmmm. I'm going to have to think about this one for a while before voting.

I voted for Roadrunner as coming in first place for the very same reasons Matt Yorston gave. To boot, even when Wile E. finally came up with a way to keep up with the roadrunner (e.g., riding on a jet engine with handlebars, eating leg muscle vitamins) he still couldn't overtake the Roadrunner.

5. Cecil Turtle
4. Rapid Rabbit

I am still torn between the other two, as much evidence exists supporting both of them.

I went with Cecil because he always wins in the world of the cartoons. I'm sure he'd find way to trick or outsmart everyone.

Oddly, I was never bothered by Cecil beating Bugs in the cartoons since he was just as smart as Bugsy-Boy. Had he been a stupid or overconfident character, like 90% of Bugs' other foes, I would have a problem.

Like Jack stated in the previous post, Cec would most likely outsmart everyone. My bet is he's gonna call on his entire family to help, if ya know what I mean.;)
