Theme: Bullfighting Cartoons

"Bully for Bugs"
"Senor Droopy" (MGM, Droopy)
"The Timid Toreador"-computer colorized
"Bulldozing the Bull" (Popeye, B&W)
"Picador Porky"-B&W
"Mexican Joyride"-edited

Wow, two B&Ws and a rare one in one show. Too bad "Mexican Cat Dance" didn't make the line-up. They could've had room for it, but they played 11 minutes worth of commercials after "Mexican Joyride".

I'm surprised nobody has commented on last night's Acme Hour yet. I thought it was an excellent show! It was great seeing "Bulldozing the Bull" in black and white!!

Maybe they'll do another cool theme tonight!

It's a pity Speedy never did a bullfighting short, otherwise we could have seen him tonight. Maybe this schedule revamp is a good thing, if we can get some un-PC goodies out of CN.

The folding door gag in "Senor Droopy" was reused by Avery in "Homesteader Droopy"; he also directed "Picador Porky" which not only features Mexicans but a couple of drunks in a bull suit.

The edit in "Mexican Joyride" is also a pretty clean one (is it after Dafy hands the bull a gun and recommends suicide?) that actually seems to help the story flow. Besides, the sight of Daffy at a meat counter advertising steaks "any minute now" is a pretty gruesome one. Got a good laugh at the leaky Mexican (who sounded not unlike an afore-mentioned rapid rodent)....

Actually, the short I was talking about "Mexican Cat Dance" WAS a Speedy/Sylvester short. They also could've played "Little Pancho Vanilla".
