I found out on a CB website/shrine to Spike titled Elevator Beat, that Spike is possibly Jewish? I never thought about this, until I went there. After reading some of the pretty interesting stuff they have there. But the religious deal has something to do w/ his last name, gun and other stuff that lead to this. http://www.jagged.nu/spike Go check it out for more info.

It makes sense. Art Spiegelman, an artist, is well known for drawing the harsh reality based comic book Maus about Nazi Germany. Spiegelman, and Spiegel for that matter, is a German/Polish name, which is why it could easily be seen as Jewish. Of course, the majority of Jewish names in America have been toned down and "westernized." When the Jewish side of my family came to America, they changed their name from Rabinovitz to Roberts to fit in better.
Of course, Spike has the opposite motto from what would be considered Jewish. Part of Judaism that isn't separable from the wishy-washy religious junk that any religion throws at you is the past. Stressed in several Jewish holidays (Passover, Purim, Hannukah, Yom Kippur... etc.) is the idea that the past must be remembered and dwelled on in order to make the future better. If anything, Jews live as much in the past as in the present, while Spike tries not to dwell on the past. Of course, if you do want him to be Jewish, he may simply want this because he's attempting to rebel. Then again, his religion may not be a factor at all...
