Jurassic Park IV Goes Ahead
It's official... Universal and Steven Spielberg are moving ahead with plans for JPIV!
November 07, 2002 - Industry insider mags, Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, have confirmed newly surfaced rumors that Universal Pictures and producer Steven Spielberg are moving ahead with plans for a fourth film in the Jurassic Park franchise.
The trades report that author/screenwriter William Monahan (Fox's Tripoli) is negotiating a deal to pen the script for the third dino sequel. Spielberg and Kathleen Kennedy will produce.
Just yesterday, rumors surfaced online that actor Sam Neill had let the cat out of the bag on the new film. He's quoted as saying, "Steven just blew me away with the story... Something frightening is happening concerning those dinosaurs that doesn't necessarily bode well for us humans. Scientists never seem to learn. ... You know that feeling when you first saw the original film, and you were so in awe, and felt so swept away and mesmerized by the sheer majesty of it all? I believe this premise has the potential to elicit that same kind of response. Out of all the concepts that have been created for these movies, this is possibly my favorite."
We'll have more news on JPIV as it develops!

In all honesty, if they go all Cadillacs and Dinosaurs or maybe Turok-ish, this could be a fun ride.
I just hope the story can actually blow on away instead of it being a squeal for the sake of having a sequel.
Wait a second...... there was a Jurassic Park III? 0_o

Here's what I hope for the JP4.
1.That Spielburg will direct this movie and won't let the director from JP3 get his hands on this flick.
2.They get rid of that overrated giant crocidile from JP3, and make the T-Rex the top dino.
3.No more over-played emotional scenes like when that kid finally meets his parents from JP3.
4.NO JP3 STUFF IN JP4, PLEASE!!!

No more.
JP = Good.
JP2 and JP3 and, in all probability, JP4 = Bad.
That's my two cents.

I've been following the JP4 info trail for a while now. I'm hoping it's true that this movie is being made like JP3 NEVER happened.

Yeah guys, it's REAAAALLY EASY to sit around saying "Boy, it better be good, boy, JP3 sure sucked, boy, if I was making this movie, it would rule."
First of all, Joe Johnston is not to blame for the shortcomings of Jurassic Park 3. He is an amazing director. The problem was that the studio forced them to go ahead without a workable script. And they did pretty good, considering they were half doing it as they went along.
Steven Spielberg has been quoted as saying that he thinks this is the best JP story premise he's heard since the original Jurassic Park. He also said that he wishes this had been part 3, instead of the part 3 we got. The word of mouth concerning the story for this movie from the people behind the scenes is VERY good. We could possibly be looking at the best Jurassic Park sequel of all (although The Lost World is highly underrated).

With Sam Neil I'm all for it. I'm a big fan of Dr. Grant, but I really didn't care for Malcolm. While not great, JP3 was a good popcorn flick and if this one should be better than that, then I say bring it on. :)

I agree. For me, JP3 was just fun to watch. I honestly don't see why people hate it so much, other than the fact Spielberg didn't helm it. With that said..
Bring on the dinos!

Jurrasic Park was great. JP 2 sucked. I never saw JP3. They should have stopped after JP2.

Steven Spielburg will not be the directer, he will be producing the movie

This is exciting news!!! I'm one of the few that actually enjoyed JP3, so I'm really looking foward to this! I hope Sam Neil and Jeff Goldblum are both in this one, that would make it even better. Can't wait to hear more about this! :)

I really wouldn't have minded a JP4 either way, but if both Spielberg and Sam Neil say this one has a good script, then I can't wait to see it (well I can wait, but ya know) :p

JP3 wasn't that bad. I enjoyed it.
JP2 wasn't bad at all.
JP puts them both to shame though.
If this is as good as the original, I'm psyched! I'll be watching this opening day, hopefully.
One thing: NO TALKING RAPTORS.

Although I liked all the JP movies, I think the franchise has run it's course. Personally, I'd rather see Peter Jackson's remake of 'King Kong'. Now that'd be a great 'dino island' movie! :)

I can tell you why.
1.Some scenes were over-acted and seem just plain cheesy(like the scene where the kid and parents ran to each-other, and at the end where tons millitary came to get them off the island.)
2.The famous T-Rex gets ony a few minutes of scene only to be killed off by a dino that looks like a giant Crocidile(it was like they were insulting JP1 and JP2 fans when they did that.)

sure JP3 was bad, horrible even.... but after how amazingly kicka** the first two were, I can't wait to see what JP4 has to offer. A word of advice: if you haven't seen JP3 pretend it doesn't exist...

So, the first word was that Jeff Goldblum shall return as the always loveable Ian Malcolm. I loved that character...but the only character better than Ian was...Alan Grant.
So, by this news, it's suggested that Sam Niell is attached to star once again....
Grant and Malcolm together, finishing off the series? WOO! This is a dream come true..
I'm kinda hoping for the "Dinosaurs take over the world" plot that was originally suggested for the 3rd one, but eventually dropped being deemed to "expensive." *shrug*
As for JP3...yes, JP & TLW:JP were SO good, that JP3 seems like an insult in comparison. BUT...c'mon...dinosaurs vs. helpless humans...that's fun. It was a fun movie...and the Spinosaurus is a legitimate dino who really could have beaten the crap out of a T-Rex in its day...so...shut up. ;) Anywho....it may no have looked scary...but, it still got the job done well enough. And you have to admit, the Pteranodon scene was excelent....babies eating away at some kid? That's just the greatest thing ever....
I'm a JP fan to the end...so, I'm up for anything. :D

Look, even Speilberg couldn't make a sequel in this franchise work. The first movie blew me away, totally - but the second was awful, and the third was TOTAL B-movie. *SHUDDER* NO MORE! NO MORE! NO MORE!
I don't mind dinosaur movies, but we don't need another JP film. Make something original for once!

I see this going the way of the fourth movie of another franchise- not too good (just ask Joel S., he'll know what you mean)... Honestly, this is a movie that's not really needed. I guess the people I watched the movie with were right:
"Where are those dinosaurs flying off to?"
"Why, JP4 of course!" :p

I liked the third one. It wasn't nearly as good s the original, but at least it didn't suck like "The Lost World". Still, to be fair, at the least "Lost World" stuck relatively close to the book. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle would have proud to see his work presented so well on screen. :D

Whoa,Whoa, whoa. What is up with you people????The Lost World was an awesome sequel,it was much better than #3 and had a lot more action than #1 and a lot more killing.Oh,and a lot of people.Basically #2 was great and so was #1.But #3 just didn't impress me,the only part I liked was the Terodactyls attacking.

Am I the only person that liked JP 2 and 3?
