This info comes from the digital bits. Apparently caving in to DVD's core fans, WB has announced that on November 13th they will release Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory 30th Anniversary DVD WIDSCREEN. There will be NO changes to the 30th anniversary special edition other than the movie will be presented in widescreen. Everything else from the full frame DVD WILL be on the new widescreen edition. Boy, I'm glad I cancelled my pre-order for the full frame!

The Digital Bits also comments that Warner's Lord of the Rings animated movie will be released in full frame and not it's original 1:85 ratio. I cancelled my pre-order for The Hobbit, LOTR, and Return of the King cause of this. I have a feeling that WB will release them in widescreen sometime in the future. They caved with Wonka and they'll cave with LOTR. To read the story and their interesting rant about Warner, click on the link below. Once will get there, click on the Daily Column: Almost Famous and Wonka Widescreen link.

I was stoked to see that WB caved, which means there is hope, and that they actually do listen to fans. This means that if we press hard enough we'll get what we want, DAMMIT!

I saw the full frame version at Best Buy today and contemplated buying it but held off. Now I am glad I did!
