Being the two Sherlockians that we are, SJJ and I went and drew two very different versions of that famous detective of 221b Baker Street, Mr. Sherlock Holmes. Mine is a younger version, Holmes at age 26 to be exact. I was attempting to make him look thoughtful and a bit haggard-worn...Holmes was known to go days without sleeping or eating and I could see him doing that many times as a younger man. This is also my first time experimenting with the paint program! It was fun, and I rather like how it turned out. So here's the original sketch and the colored one:

Mine is an older version - probably near the end of his life reflecting on past glories and defeats! Pencil and no ink - which is a little frightening - and no touching up on photoshop! Scary!

Wow, both of those are simply fantastic.
What completely different eras of his life, do you two have any other pictures planned out? Or was this just a spur of the moment thing?
Anyway, they're really really good! :)

I think mostly spur of the moment. SJJ might be doing some more sketches of Holmes, and I know I'm going to fiddle around with a character study of sorts perhaps.

I've done a colour version of Barb's B&W - however I'll pass it by her first before posting it... no other ones to post planned.. but that was done in a sketchbook, so I am tempted to try some more. I'll post any good ones in this thread!

Here's my picture again, but with SJJ's expert coloring to it. It's really quite nifty! Still retaining a bit of the sketched look from the original. That, or it personally makes me think of him covered with a bit of ash. Holmes was quite the smoker, known to fill a whole room with so much smoke it was as thick as dense fog when he was really thinking hard on something.

LOL. I hadn't really thought about that until I checked the thread and had a good look. The soot, along with his expression makes it look like he's been the victim in a ACME dynamite prank - Looney Tunes style!

I don't wanna choose! I don't wanna! They're both great! Thing is, where is Watson in all this mess? And what about Basil of Baker Street? Huh?
HUH!?
:) Good stuff, you two. You two oughta team up and go on tour. Really! :)
