Is it just me or does everybody and their grandmother have a fan site for something. I mean not that theres anything wrong with having a site. But if you're gonna have a site at least update it. And if you can't update it than take it off so you don't annoy people like me that are actually looking for some information.
What got my blood boiling on this subject? Well here i am looking for a site that has the complete summary of the japanese beyblade(in english of course)so i can see what happens later on in the series. I usually get all my anime series in bulk....basically the whole thing and watch it all at once. It kills me to watch the american versions cause of all the having to stop and play reruns to fill the season or waiting for the next season to get started. I mean why should i wait if it's already done?
Anyways.....search engines are clogged up w/ a bunch of incomplete sites that aren't even close to keeping up w/ the american series. Why are these sites here? Why do they even bother making them if they can't dedicate the time to maintaining them.
Geez, i remember when there was a bunch of dragonball websites that had the full summaries of the whole japanese version. Now there's nothing but new fans struggling to get past the first seasons of Dbz. It makes me wonder if it's a conspiracy that all the good sites got pushed to the back of the search engine lists or taken off altogether.
I don't know. Maybe I'm going off cause i spent more than an hour looking for one site that had all the episode summaries for one show. Does anyone here agree/disagree w/ me on this subject. Cause it irks me. Am i alone?

It irks me as well. When I make sites I try to make sure just about everything is good to go on it before it goes public...might leave something out for the sake of updating ;) And I understand it when sites are down for reconstruction and all. But I despise it when I click a link and the person has the title for the page and that's it, or the server has something like "Mary owns this space"....I mean, come on, have a little common sense and niceness to others. People really shouldn't make their sites public and on search engines unless it's got something meaningful on it. Perhaps not so much meaningful since that's a matter of opinion, but something with content.

I never liked to use terms like 'under construction'. I've always done my best to make sure they are complete as they can be.
Furthermore, when I creat fansites (*sigh* I have created many) I always try and make sure there are some exclusive items to the site. My old Lexx site, Squawker's Guide To Lexx (one of the biggest irrelvant fan sites on the show) had wallpapers I had made (and not nicked), winamp skins (I had made) and reviews (Which I had done) so there was always something more than a few useless pictures and summaries.
The smaller sites have always had something special. My Battle Of The Planets one has a couple of wallpapers and some illustrated fanfiction, my now deleted Blake's 7 site had the biggest collection of Blake's 7 avatars on the net. Little else on either sites, but there was something unique and that's what I always strive for in websites. Incomplete messes with pictures missing and poor summararies give fansites a bad name...

I"m glad some people share my distain for incomplete sites. But do you think we should just blame them, or the search engines also. Shouldn't the best sites come up first? I have to go through 4 or 5 pages of search results just to find remotley what i'm looking for. It's really frustrating to be looking for a reasonably easy thing to find, and have to go through a bunch of garbage to before you can actually access it. Darn my computer and it's abundance of porn that has used up the memory, pop ups totally kill my computer's speed. So not only do i have to contend w/ finding a decent site but if i pick the wrong one and it has pop ups it takes me 5 minutes just to close them. *sigh* SERENITY NOW!!!!!!

I'm extremely picky with websites. I rarely go to fansites anymore, because they're usually crap.

Case in point. . . . . . . . . :o

Click on my sig for a great site!!
A little self promotion never hurt anyone ;)
Yeah... I hate it too, but then again, I am guilty of having incomplete fansites. *kicks her Kairi and Orko shrines* Yes, I am a lazy person... shame on me. =<
Still... I have the same gripes when I look for fansites. *coughVeggieTalesformyexamplecough* Incomplete, ganked images and all-round pieces of rubbish. Neyh.

Yah, while there are a lot of websites that don't provide much beyond general info, the ones that do usually provide a lot to make up for it.
Welcome to the board, Mekairinek.

Thank you for the welcome. ^_^
I really don't like cluttering up the board with a silly 'Hi, I'm new' post. X) But I digress.
Oh, I love fansites that have more than general info. I tend to lean towards sites that have fanart, downloadables and really spiffy-nifty stuff. Hehehe. =>

I'm a bit picky with fansites as well. I try to make mine as "superb" as possible!!
And even if I do decide to abandon it, at least I'm not lazy enough to say so, so people won't keep checking back, over and over and over again for updates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(throws computer) :p

I agree, it can be such a pain in the butt to go to a site that doesn't even work. I have been tricked into entering sites like this, then when I try to leave, I get spammed up the rear!
Evil people. I wish I knew who they were! I wouldn't do anything, but I would be able to replace they with a name. :D
