View Full Version : How would you improve Disney?

See how popular the "The REAL reason why I became Anti-Disney." topic has become, it pretty much safe to say a lot of you think current Di$ney is a sold-out, money crazed, shell-of-it's-former-self, company. Now I think it's time to move on from what we think is wrong with it to how we think it can be improved.

If you were given the chance to improve any part, any theme park, and show, any channel, any movie, and anything else of Disney, to get it out the greed-driven rut they are in, what would you do?

Ok, here we go...

1. Resurrect Chip'N Dale: Rescue Rangers

2. AXE KIM POSSIBLE

3. Produce thought-provoking animated movies, not just films about cute grizzly animals hiding from the FBI under some 10-year old's skirts...

4. Produce movies based on Disney series that are truly unique and entertaining (Weekenders House of Mouse )

5. Re-release ever episode of Gargoyles in a full DVD set

6. Revamp the theme parks to include sections such as Mickeymania, and Disney's 101 Arabaian sites (With an excellent "Escape from the Cave of Wonders " ride) ;)

1) Fire Eisner.

2) Any Disney t.v. show or movie that has been edited since "Steamboat Willy" automatically gets a new restored look.

3) Anything ZOOG related dies a painful death.

4) The only sequels will be to TDA related movies and live action films, and those will be decided on a case by case basis.

5) All Disney DVD's, no matter how bad the film is, will contain at the very least:

Theatrical Trailer
Making of Feature
Deleted Scenes

The bigger, better movies will get the red carpet treatment.

6) Disney Channel shall revert to it's original form. Playhouse Disney and the Zoog shows are hereby banished, to be replaced with classic Disney shows, movies, and "Welcome to Pooh Corner".

7) Commercial breaks on Disney? I say thee neigh! Any program or movie on Disney Channel shall be without commercial interuption.

8) Gargoyles gets a new series with the original creative team.

9) What the hell, let's give Tale Spin, Ducktales, Darkwing Duck and other shows new eps.

10) After several DTV films.

11) No more live action versions of cartoons unless it's by people with talent. George of the Jungle? Yes. Inspector Gadget? Hell. No.

12.) Since we're stuck with the Saban Library, share ALL toons between syndication, ABC, ABC Family, Disney Channel and Toon Disney. Let's get some variety out there.

13) Power Rangers gets their own Disneyland attraction.

14) Michael Eisner is forced to work as Burger Beagle at Euro Disney.

1) Fire Eisner. (A pattern is forming)

2) Give Hayao Miyazaki's films a real promotion

3) Give Hayao Miyazaki's films a wide release.

4) Get rid of all the "school-based" cartoons. (Eg. Recess)

5) Start focusing on the production of animated movies not on live action cartoons.

6) Stop making Cheapquels.

7) Give the animation staff more freedom to make their movies.

8) Less interference from executives on animated shows and films.

9) Stop expanding the Disney corporation into entertainment ventures that has nothing to do with animation. (Eg. ABC Network, the partnership with Microsoft)

Here are some more improvements I would do...

*Bring back Dtv to Disney Channel and TD and make new music videos(using footage TD shows and Disney Animated movies) with both today's hit popular songs and classics songs.

*Bring back that Nature show Walt's Brother Ron Disney produced decades ago(I don't rember the name of the show, it was an old disney show where they filmed live animals in the wild and a narrator explains whats going on and makes it into a story), and maybe have celebrities do voices for some of the live animals to help explain whats going on.

*Cancel that "Movie Surfers" show, I can't stand those kids because because their complaments of the movies and their laghter at so-called "Funny Scenes" sound so fake and bought out.

I agree with most of the suggestions above. But if I were in charge of Disney, what would I do? Well, that's easy. I'd use the vast resources of the Disney empire to buy up North American television rights to every anime available, and then I'd start up a basic cable anime channel and show everything completely unedited, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Oh yeah, and I'd go crawling on my hands and knees begging Kevin Smith to make more Clerks: The Animated Series. I'd give him a huge budget, no content restrictions, a primetime time slot, and a contract renewable for ten seasons, and then just turn him loose. For that matter, I'd give him a contract to make ten or twelve more movies when he feels like it. (-:

Here's what I'd do to make Disney better:

1. Release the Studio Ghibli films.

2. Revert the Disney Channel to it's old self (as in the state that the channel was in during the late 1980's and the first half of the 1990's).

3. More Walt Disney Treasures releases.

4. NO MORE CRAPPY ANIMATED SEQUELS.

5. When it comes to some of the anime titles Saban owns (specifically Digimon), try to follow in the footsteps of Pioneer with Cardcaptors and have a dual release on DVD with a dub version for kids and a subbed version for the otaku.

No more sequels of live action movies or animation.

Cancel Llyod and Sabrina on the Disney channel and air old classic shows instead.

Put Teacher's Pet back on ABC.

Have Toon Disney stop editting their own shows!

I'll get to TV in a second. First off, I think the theme parks idea needs some modifications. I live in Irvine now, and I think California Adventure at Disneyland was a disaster (the numbers suggest the same). It should merge into Disneyland, making the ticket cost go down, and accomodating for the 1 million people that go to that park every weekend. Downtown Disney is very cool, that should stay the same.

Toon Disney - edting their own shows is wrong, but it is an all-kids network. Gargoyles had more freedom in syndication (and USA) because it was syndication. On the other hand Disney cartoons as a whole has gone down. They don't need Adult Swim like cartoons to get back on the map, just cleverly written ones. Writing a bunch of school based cartoons like Weekenders, Kim Possible, Doug, Pepper Ann, etc., does not work. Where's the high adventure if the hero has to remember to turn in an essay...? Rescue Rangers was all adventure, it was great because things like sitting in a room for hours was out the door.

ABC Family - When the action block started back in March, we were all jumping for joy. Power Rangers, Spider-man, X-men, it was a dream come true. Then Spider-man was edited...again, then shown out of order...again. Then X-men was cancelled...again. Then Hulk arrived...only to leave. Then FF, Iron Man, and Avengers were teased....only to never show up. Zeo never arrived. Tokyo Pig and Beyblade infested the block. From something that looked so good, to something I cat even watch anymore. Their solution is the easiest to make, but who wants to bet that will happen. I will watch to see if they put up a Daredevil feature before the movie in February (which should consist of the FF ep maybe, and definately the two-part Spidey ep), and a X-men feature before the movie in May.

Disney Channel - As far as I know, Zoog is gone. If it isn't, it should be. Their movies actually aren't too bad, but they still aren't that good. I'd just get rid of the channel.

ABC - The only good thing it has for me is Alias. And they moved Drew Carey to Friday??? Didn't they learn from Once and Again?? Home Alone 4 on the Wonderful World of Disney?? Axe this channel, too.

Movies - DTV sequels are bad, but the theatre releases are slowly getting better. Emperor's New Groove and Atlantis were not too bad. Dumping Pixar is going to haunt Disney if it actually happens. So will teaming up with Microsoft (even if they deny the rumors of a merger).

Like Chibi said, fixing Disney is not as hard as it looks, they should just do it already.

Later.

1. Approach sequels as something with a given audience that will accept anything- So why not be more creative and daring with the format?

2. See above, but concerning theme park based rides. For starters, how about "Country Bears 2: 'Camping' in the Great Outdoors"? Kick Eddie Murphy off the Haunted Mansion movie, or at least avoid the Casper route I've been hearing about. And have Julie Taymor take a look at Small World.

3. More Gargoyles

That's all I can think of at the moment...

Here's what I would do to improve Disney's entertainment side:

1. Buy out Michael Eisner's contract.

2. Buy out Thomas Schumacher's contract and make Don Hahn head of Feature Animation.

3. Completely revamp Disney Channel and Toon Disney. Turn the Disney Channel back to what it was like pre-1995 and give incentives to make Toon Disney a non-digital basic cable channel.

4. Seriously look at creating one or more animated TV series using the Classic Disney characters on ABC prime time, with 20-22 episodes per season.

5. Create the Touchstone Animation label to develop original Disney animation for older viewers on both TV and cable. Use this label to correctly distribute all of the animated features of Studio Ghibli.

6. Convert ABC Family Channel into the ABC Entertainment Channel, with increased emphasis Disney/ABC-created original content for younger viewers in the daytime and older viewers at night.

7. Sell off Miramax to Viacom, AOL Time Warner or another entertainment company.

8. Leverage its links to A&E channel and History Channel more strongly.

That's all I can think for now. :)

My advice for Di$ney...

Stop making "cheap-quels" of old films and concentrate on TV movies featuring the glory days of the Disney Afternoon (i.e. TaleSpin, Darkwing Duck, and Gargoyles)

Oh, and of course... IMPEACH EISNER!!! (the pattern continues!)

To qoute former wrestler Steve Austin...

And that's the bottom line, cause (I) said so!

- Fire Eisner! Make him clean the Elephant stables in Animal Kingdom.

- Get rid of ZOOG or whatever that thing is

- Yank that stupid 'Super Short Show' gag with those two kids. Oh....puleeeez. Whoever thought up that idea should be fired with Eisner.

- Smoosh "Clay"....and pound.....and pound.....and pound.....rip him apart......roll him up.....and pound s'more. That is the dorkiest thing. "Hey....I'm Clay" *making gagging noises*

- Bring back the classic Disney Cartoons.......Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Daisy, Chip and Dale, Hewey, Dewey and Lewey, etc. Also, get rid of that "Book of Pooh" junk, and bring back classic Winnie the Pooh cartoons.

- Show classic live-action movies and tv shows....Mary Poppins, Old Yeller, Swiss Family Robinson, Incredible Journey (the first before they made the animals talk  ), Davy Crocket, etc. And.....not just at the middle of the night. Show them at a decent hour. May be primetime.

- Bring back The Mickey Mouse Club . And.....I don't mean some teeny-bopper, teen band wannabe popstar junk. I mean.....bring back the old Mickey Mouse Club from the good old days. Yes.....the B/W eps.

- Bring back Mousercise. Anyone remember that one? From back in the 80's when Disney Channel was pretty new. I loved it. It was so much fun. It was a good way to get kids to exercise.

- Do a segment with the Sing-A-Long videos. I love those Sing-A-Long videos where you get learn to sing the songs from the movies, and such.

- Okay.....I like some Playhouse Disney stuff like.....Rolie Polie Olie....Bear in the Big Blue House ......Stanley ......Wiggles (Yes.....I like the Wiggles okay.....gotta problem with that? :p  ) But......Madeline ......PB&J Otter ......and Out of the Box ....have got to go. I'm so sick of Madeline !

- Do segments on behind-the-scenes stuff on making cartoons or movies. Also, do behind-the-scenes on ALL Disney theme parks (California, Florida, Tokyo, and may be even the rise and fall of EuroDisney).

- Also bring back the old Disney Afteroon cartoons. Duck Tales, Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck, The Little Mermaid, Timone and Pumba

- Show classic full-length animation movies on a regular basis......Snow White .....Sleeping Beauty ......Pinocchio .......Peter Pan .......The Fox and the Hound ......Cinderella ......Bambi ......The Little Mermaid .......Beauty and the Beast ......Aladdin .....The Lion King .....Pocohantas ....Toy Story (1 & 2)

Okay.....well....I think I've said enough. :D

1. Like someone said earlier in this thread, bring back gargoyles, with the original creative team. The new series should pick up from where the syndicated serie left off (episode #65) and ignore the horrible goliath chronicles.

2. Buy marvel.

3. After buying marvel, they should make new animated tv serives and movies, based on marvel characters. They should also, reanimate/provide new and better animation for older marvel cartoons, that had terrible animation, while at the same time not changing the stories or voice actors. Marvel cartoons like x-men TAS,silver surfer, the UPN hulk series,spider-man TAS (the episodes that had bad animation),and spider-man unlimited.

4. Bring back all the old disney, marvel, and saban action adventure, comedy, and anime cartoons. Then have them all air on the disney chanel, toon disney,ABC,and ABC family.

One thing will improve disney far beyond most anything anyone has said yet (I didn;t bother to read a bunch of the previous posts so someone could have said it). That one thing is: Demote Eisner and Co. and Promote Ron Disney. The man has a genuine love of animation and has personal ties and interests in seeing the company return to it's former glory. After all, as much as you all won't agree, he has brought Disney's Animation back to being a big entity in the company. Before he took the dept over it was slated for death. Disney was going to drop animation forever. More than anything else, that would have caused Walt to roll around in his glass jar. Ron has the companies best interest in mind, not to bring in money, but to bring entertainment to the masses.

Eh... I was tired and blanked on that last letter of his name. That was my point, Roy saved Disney animation and caused a classic to be made. The Disney could really put... Disney... back on top. He's the shiznit. Roy might not be an animator or even an artist, but he's got more passion and respect for it than anybody else in that company.

- Learn as much about exactly how the "Lilo and Stitch" project at Features and the "Kim Possible", "Teacher's Pet" and "Fillmore" projects at Television were carried out, and then use those projects as models for how to manage all future film and TV projects. Those were the artistic successes, IMHO, wherein the creatives got to use their talents to their most potential. Disney needs these projects to be the norm.

- In order to pull that off a lot of executive firings is going to be needed. Forcing out Eisner is just one thing. Disney is reportedly topheavy with known-nothing execs. I bet they could eliminate nearly all those management jobs and not miss them. The ones that get the remaining exec jobs only do so if they have some artistic background ( unlikely ) or they know their place in that they are NOT creative and so they let the creatives use their own judgement. I think that was true of the projects I named: the creatives know what they're doing and they know how to make great films.

- Shrink the company. ABC has been nothing but a disaster. Strike a sweet deal with ABC to have it broadcast Disney programming and then let it go independent. And who needs sports teams and ESPN? Do we really need Touchstone, Hollywood AND Caravan? ( Miramax I'd keep though because it's different from the other divisions ). All these pieces of the Comglomerate are just costly distractions. The focus needs to be brought back to the animation divisions once and for all.

- Revitalize the Feature division by rehiring most of those creatives they laid off in March. Concentrate them in Orlando, though. Those 2000 miles between headquarters and Orlando FA have been very helpful.

- Concentrate the Television division on original, creator driven shows. Promote them like heck, maybe even make some movie versions of them. If these projects are successful even the bean counters won't see any need for cheapquels.

- Make a serious effort to show original animation on both the Disney Channel and Toon Disney

- Create a Vault Disney channel to showcase vintage Disney stuff, uncensored.

- Kiss and make up to Pixar. They're what's keeping Disney alive. Whatever Pixar wants to renew a deal give it to them. Heck, I'd consider letting Pixar/Apple take over outright.

- Make a serious effort to promote Studio Ghibli movies. It's an honor to be associated with the Great Hayao Miyazaki. Ghibli has to potential to be another Pixar to the division.

Oooo, now there's a good idea. You're right, it does have potential.

Let's see...what else?:

-Stop the cheapquels! Especially don't make cheapquels out of older films, it just isn't right (to the viewers or the people who created the originals).

-Give the Disney Channel a make-over so it resembles the greatness it was in the 80's-early 90's period.

-While on the subject of the Disney Channel, let's get rid of all these pre-teen live-action shows. They really don't belong on the channel.

-Stop trying to take over the world Disney, it hasn't worked for your villian characters and it wont work for you either. ;)

-Treat Miyazaki and his brilliant films with respect. They have blown so many oppourtunities to promote these movies that I pray that Disney doesn't get a hold of any more anime films.

-No more forced previews on their DVD's.

-And finally, simply to continue the trend.........fire Eisner

I know... considering that Disney took claim to the new characters (Sora, Riku, Kairi, the Heartless and Ansem to name a few) AWAY from Square... or so I heard. But still, KH has so much potential that Disney could use. Make a TV like Gargoyles, an animated movie or heck... anything! I don't find too much wrong with Disney, aside from the obvious. Sure, Eisner must go and everyone agrees on Disney Channel and the Cheapquels, but my experience has been a bit more pleasant since they bought out Saban.

That doesn't mean I don't have faults with them though.

--Make Disney Channel more of an "everything Disney" network. The tween focus is fine, but it doesn't have to be the be all/end all of the network. Expand the focus to go more "all audiences". Bring in some of the Saban shows from ABC Family. Play more of the classic animation.

--Toon Disney. You. are. wasting. this. channel. The new ABC One Saturday Morning Stuff is fine, but PLEASE use this outlet for more of the classic Disney Afternoon shows, classic Disney animation, and the Saban library. They have the power to become a fierce competitor to CN. Let them.

--ABC Family. This network has to be commended with its new action-based schedule, it's promotions department, its treatment of Power Rangers, and so on. But one complaint-- could they please get first-run rights to Power Rangers and Digimon? They really deserve it.

--ABC Kids. Give them some balls and tell them to tell the affiliates to stop screwing around with the lineup.

--Cheapquels. Trash Can. Figure it out.

--ABC... well... I don't want to make this a LONG post. :D

--Overall, my chief complaint is that they're ignoring what made Disney the huge force it began with. Walt said "let's never forget; it all started with a mouse." I'm afraid they're forgetting that. Make Mickey more prominent; give him a place in the Disney Pictures logo at least. The Treasures are great-- keep it up, but maybe make some more collections for mere mortals? Try and keep "original" House of Mouse stuff coming as well. And, in the near future... start up a Vault Disney channel. That would be a really great thing to do...

1) Fire Eisner.

2) Gargoyles. Primetime. Toon Disney.

3) Gargoyles. Boxed DVD sets.

4) Better Disney Channel original movies. I haven't seen one in ages. I'd prefer one every three months than the cheap crap they're churning out ever thirty days. More stuff like Zenon, Can of Worms, and the 13th Year. Even the Color of Friendship.

5) Lloyd and Sabrina should be moved to Toon Disney. Every cartoon that airs on UPN (minus Digimon) goes to Toon Disney.

6) No more movie surfers.

7) No more editing on ABC family. They'll show Whose Line is It Anyway but not full versions of Spidey and X-Men? Restore all marvel shows. Show all four seasons of Digimon. Power Rangers in moderation.

8) More movies like Spirited Away. No cheapquels.

9) Move AFV to Saturdays. Bring back TGIF with new episodes of Muppets Tonight.

10) I like the theme parks.

11) Fire Eisner.

BRING BACK DARKWING!!!!

I have some ideas, most are similar, just different in some ways.

I want them to bring back the late 80s and early 90s cartoons. These would include Ducktales, Tale Spin, Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers, Gargoyles, and above ALL else... DARKWING DUCK. Darkwing Duck would be make a great DVD set, great new episodes, and a great movie. With everyone focusing on "super hero" movies, this would be a perfect substitute for parents who won't bring a child to see Daredevil, but will bring a kid to see a slightly tamer (but not completely stupid and childish) Darkwing Duck. It's got that hero element, great story possibilities that were not tapped out in the original episodes, and it would have good values without catering to a certain family. What I mean is Darkwing Duck is a single parent of an adopted daughter, so it would be a different family type for children to relate to, and yet provide good values and awesome entertainment. This needs to be realized.

Stop having lame school themed cartoons and get back to the above type of cartoons, more action and fun oriented. I will watch reruns of DW, but I won't go within 8 channels of Recess when it is on TV.

I think they should show all of their movies on TV without commercial breaks. These movies should also be rerealesed with new features, storyboards, making of featurettes, tv commercials, trailers, character sheets and designs, background information about the stories or fairytales they were based upon, etc, etc, etc. I would dearly love my Robin Hood DVD to feature an interview portion where they relate the real story of Robin Hood and it's historical basis. I know that this isn't really something a child may enjoy, although I have no idea, but these DVDs should also be made for parents and others who enjoy the stories. So, I would love a feature on an Aladdin DVD to feature a feature on the original story of Aladdin and the 40 theives. It would be a great informational piece to the DVD, and the Disney cartoonists and script writers could tell why they decided on this story, what the story meant to them as children, why they interpreted the story the way they did, etc. I would buy any DVD with a feature like this.

Ok, that's about it. I just wanted to extrapolate on a few things I saw that people had already mentioned. I really think they need to bring back adventure cartoons, put more things on DVD, and make the DVDs much better and fan friendly.

This is where I start getting flamed. Gee, I was on this for almost three days before I was compelled to speak my mind. Ah, well...

1) Forget firing Eisner. Make Eisner run an admission turnstile at the Magic Kingdom when the Brazilian tourists arrive.

2) Take all the Miazaki films Disney owns and take them out of general circulation on DVD and video. Release a "special edition" of all of them, that costs $100 for a one-DVD package. This will boost Disney's bottom line easily. And American otaku are dumb enough to pay this to Pioneer or Viz Video for their offerings; they'll clog the video stores to buy at this price. Heck, they never wanted the general public to like anime anyway, make 'em pay for the privelege of being snobs.

3) Find the person who hired Jim Jinkins, pair him up with Jinkins himself, put them both in the Doug and Patty Mayonnaise character kid outfits, and put them as targets in the Frontierland shooting gallery.

4) Put "Gargoyles" back into production. Pair it with the proposed series about "genetic mutants" (those cat-people living in the sewers, an idea Disney stole from the X-Men's "Morlocks") as an action hour.

5) Pay Mark Evanier for his great idea of a "Disney Villains" show. This was actually announced in a promotional campaign, but apparently Eisner found out that Evanier suggested it years ago and quickly killed it. The T-shirts and the "Fantasmic" attraction are built around the idea, but Mark never got a dime for it. Go ahead and pay him, and do the animated series. (People like Captain Hook, Jafar, Gaston, Cruella DeVil and Chernobog would try to escape the cartoon world each week, and a little kid would always defeat them. Neat concept, eh?)

6) Replace those lame live-action ZOOG ("Zero Of Our Gold") shows with new versions of "The Hardy Boys," "Spin and Marty" and "Zorro." Good ones. Not campy ones. Heck, even do "Tom Swift" or other classic kid book stories.

7) Pay some of the best cartoonists for their outside-Disney creations, with the creators getting final approval about what's done with their characters. F'rinstance, as long as you're getting Mark Evanier, get his favorite artists Jim Davis of "Garfield" and Sergio Aragónes. Get Scott Kurtz of "PvP." Get Richard and Wendy Pini. Get Phil and Kaja Foglio.

While we're at it,let's get rid of Playhouse Disney.there's enough of that preschool crap on tv already.

Unfreeze Walt and have him fix the damage that Eisner has caused to his company.

return Vault Disney to late nights

Oh,and in case you haven't noticed, they stopped doing that ZOOG Disney thing you guys hate so much months ago.but,I think instead of banning the shows, they should start a new channel called,of course ZOOG Disney, and put them on that channel.(I know none of you guys wouldn't watch it,but, there are kids out there who will. Here's why, BECAUSE THEY'RE MADE FOR KIDS AND PRETEENS ! And,I'll take the modern version of the Mickey Mouse club instead of that gay 50's version(sorry if I offended any of you who liked the earlier version, but that's just my opinion.Don't flame me for my opinions, okay?

bring back some of the old rides and attractions to Disneyland and Disney World

Off topic,I just want to say that I'm getting sick and tired of all the bashing Disney's been getting lately.Everywhere I look, there's always Disney bashing,On the Simpsons, and here mostly. What annoys me is how you treat Disney like a swear word[Di$ney,D****y,D!$^@y]And I thought this site was Pro-Toon,including Disney.boy, was I wrong.Especially since most of you hate almost every cartoon I actually like.[Spongebob,Pokemon]

Well, if animation is following the trend that seems to be occurring, we should get a revamped Darkwing, Talespin, Rescue Rangers, and the like in a few years. After all, it seems that right now the stuff from when I was about 6 is coming back with a vengeance (He-Man, the Ponies, Strawberry Shortcake, Care Bears, you name it; of course, this is following on the heels of the recent Scooby-nostalgia which has now led to the Scooby-revulsion). But there is one show that needs to be back now because it was awesome and, of course, it's been mentioned numerous times already: GARGOYLES! But I wouldn't mess around with the animation too much. I like anime and all, but I don't think they need to try to mesh Western animation with anime in every re-release that they do.

And no mindless sequels. They should only consider doing a sequel if 1) the quality can be assured 2) it is absolutely necessary and 3) it gets a guaranteed theatre release. DTV = no deal.

I'm not sure how they're going to get people into the theatres to watch their animated releases though. There's such ill-will directed towards the Disney corporation. Their recent movies haven't been the best but then again, they have not been gut-wrenchingly awful either. They're decent films. I think it's partially a problem with demographics. The median age of the population is older and there're more teens and 20's/30's now than in the 80s and 90s. (Why else are there SO many shows on tv following the lives of 20's/30's instead of the family-oriented shows of the 90s?) Add on top of that the fact that 7+ kids want to be "grown up" and "trendy" (grace ŕ teeny-bopper music and Britney) and Western animation doesn't really have a target audience anymore. It's no coincidence that anime is finally gaining some respectable footing in American and Western cultures nowadays.

Which comes to the next point. If Disney really wants to be back on top (and this of course means that we as consumers fully support Disney exploitation so long as it is exploitation of things that we like), they need to jump on the anime bandwagon. You'd think they could afford to send people to AX. After all, it was held in their Anaheim resort a couple years back. I should know; they were still selling t-shirts from that year.

And if they really want to be forward thinking about this, Disney needs to start coming up with new animated shows that reflect the increased maturity level of their former target audience (us baby boomers' kids). They need to take what makes anime so appealing and apply those types of storylines to their own animation style. Re-releasing nostalgic hits will only take you so far...

Wow, I totally didn't mean for that to become an exposition on my personal theory of animation. Maybe I should get to writing that paper that's due at 2pm . . .
