They really play those old Porky Pig shorts to death. They don't play enough B&W Merrie Melodies. They could show a Bosko or Buddy short as well.

Well, it WAS nice to have an ENTIRE episode WITHOUT a Betty Boop cartoon....... Actually, you're kind of right about those Porky shorts, they need to show more different ones. Here's an idea for an LNB&W:

"A Cartoonist's Nightmare"
"Happy Birthdaze" (Popeye)
"Wholly Smoke"
"The Daffy Duckaroo"
"Nutty News"
"Popeye the Sailor"
"Bosko the Doughboy"

Also, we got the rare "Blow Me Down" last night, which hasn't been seen since the first rare ACME HOUR! (I think)

And there are a LOT of Porky cartoons CN has never aired before in B&W ("Porky's Bear Facts", "Rover's Rival", "Porky and Daffy", "Slap-Happy Pappy", "Naughty Neighbors"...all come to mind at the moment). I wouldn't complain if any of those aired on LNB&W.

I'm actually surprised "Blow Me Down" aired because of all the leering Mexican stereotypes depicted--including Popeye knocking out the teeth of one ugly mug who grins at him. High points were Olive's dance with the spittoons on her feet, and Bluto going around the world in a daze after Popeye punches him.

The patient in "Calling Dr. Porky" who complains of dizzy spells is the same bear from "Porky's Bear Facts" who sings "Working Can Wait". Is he used in any more shorts? My PD tape has the color version, so I never knew it was B&W.

"Slap-Happy Pappy" wouldn't air on CN because of the implications of killing unwanted children, the prejudice against daughters, and the Rochester caricature that pops out of one egg. Though it'd go nicely with the Jack Benny Toonheads theme in the above thread....

CN has aired SLAP HAPPY PAPPY several times before, and it’s part of the Bob Clampett show episodes. Plus, the Rochester egg was left in when I saw it on the Acme Hour before.

This was lifted directly from the comic strip from March 16, 1932. ("Arf! Arf! Dance of the Gaboons!")
