Favorite genre of video games

I was just wondering what kind of video games you all like to play. I like action/shooter games myself although I do enjoy the occasional strategy game. I never had much luck with RPGs; I lose interest in those types of games quickly.

Thanks. I wanted to make my 1000th post worthwhile so I ended up thinking all day about it. I could've made it about 12 hours ago but I like I said, I wanted this one to be special.

I'm an all-genre kinda guy. I'll play anything, as long as it's fun and enjoyable. I usually don't play sports games that much, but I'm willing to give anything a try if it's fun. Usually, though, I tend to enjoy Action/Adventure/RPG/Strategy/Platformer titles. And Fighters are also good, though they get a bit old after time.

And as for the topic at hand: I play most all video game genres. The only exceptions I can think of are puzzle games because they just frustrate me to no end.

I'm a video game collector, but I have a lot of adventure games. Monkey Island, Titanic, etc. What comes after that are the ever so addicting Action Games

Mostly RPG and action/adventure myself...I like a nice light gun game very once in awhile (Area 51...come on, it's classic) just for something different. Can't go wrong with an endless stream of near-plotless violence, 'specially after a real heavy RPG or survival/horror game...do survival/horror games count as a genre? 'Cause if they do, mark 'em up there with my favs.

I used to subscribe to action in general as my favorite genre, but after discovering games like Rainbow 6 and Ghost Recon I am now officially a hyper-realistic tactical FPS nut! GR and it's expansions are the best FPS ever made and one of the best games overall, ever. I just can't get enough of it! I'm halfway through Desert Siege now and I'm replaying Rogue Spear to give me my CQB counter-terror ops fix to tide me over until Raven Shield comes out.

I like some adventure games, once in a while (read: when I'm not killing other "living" organisms senselessly). I also play the occasional fighting game in the arcades. Racing games got boring when I actually got my license (though I'm still really good at them).

I don't really have a favorite these days. A year or two ago, I would immediately say RPGs. Unfortunately, I'm kinda burnt out on them now.

I guess I'd say Action but that's really a pretty broad genre. I guess I'll just say it's anything besides sports and realistic racing.

The only ones I dont play are sports games, unless its the Madden series (and thats only because I played football :p). I just cant get into sports games for some reason.

I'm a big RPG buff. I like them best because they're like interactive movies :D And the 80+ hours of play time make them more worth my hard-earned money.

I also like fighting games because they're a fun way to kill time when I have friends over and we get bored.

I love a good platform adventure. Besides that I like any game that is really good in the multiplayer department. (all but RPGs! Besides Paper Mario, oh how I do so hate RPGs)

I like lots of games. I'm kind of a fan of weird games like DDR and Sims.

But my favorites would have to be Action RPGs. I love most of them. I'm lucky, I've bought LoZ: Wind Waker and Dark Cloud 2 a month ago and almost have them beat(I distribute my time).

I've already played through so many: Threads of Fate, Ocarina of Time, Dark Cloud, Kingdom Hearts, Dual Hearts....

And now I've got Sudeki, Kingdom Hearts 2, Dark Cloud 3, Xmen and FF Crystal Chronocles to look forward to in the future.

Anyone got some suggestions for me in this area?
