Hi ho kids. Spaz here, with his opinions on the more recent Grim and Evil Episodes.

The show has gotten much better this year, so let's have a look, shall we?

Grim vs. Mom

First short of the season proved to be a good in a Samurai Jack kind of way-no coherent plot, but gee gosh golly, all the fighting....

Bring me the Face of Hector Con Carne

BACKSTORY HOOOOOOOOO!
I also liked this one. Allthough Evil isn't anywhere near Grim yet, this show a mass improvement over last season. Evil might be going places....

Tastes Like Chicken

Cannibalisim=funny. Proof that the G/E team is setteling into their dark plot/meets light locale setup. I liked.

A Grim Suprise

They also seem to be mastering the one joke cartoon....

Everybody Loves Uncle Bob

This was...diffrent. I enjoyed it. Quite a bit actually. But.....I can see why some people didn't like it. Then again, I just think that people who didn't like it couldn't handle the nipples.

Beasts and Barbarians

I loved this episode up untill the ending. The end seemed...forced. But still, a further charge into the improving.

Hoss Delgado: Spectral Exterminator

While Hoss isn't the most...orginial character, I still think he works, very well, in the Grim universe. And come on....Grim fighting? Allways a good thing.

Evil on Trial

Well, you can't win em' all.

Cod Commando is being overused. As a matter of fact, the whole episode seemed a little...forced.

To Eris is Human

Ohhhhh yeah.

The G/E team has kind of added somthing this season...the whole series is Bill, Many, and Grim's various misadventures in the supernatural. Eris was a great character, and I proved the "Power" of Mandy.

The Time Hole Incident

GAAAAH!

Ussually when you do time travel, you try to make it somewhat logicial. That bugged me enough.....but still, the whole Ghastly/Con Carne sittin' in a tree...thing was a great pondering piece.

Billy's Growth Spurt

Good lord this was a weird episode. Then again, I'm all for apendages sprouting legs and ripping out of people's backs. (FLCL owns.)

Big Trouble in Billy's Basement

Ugh. Great idea, screwed up by awfull pacing. Should have been longer.

Christmas Con Carne

So...weird. But violent. And isn't that all that matters?

Tickle me Mandy

If I had to say that an episode of Grim and Evil was actually "Scary," this would be it. I mean, that doll was creepy.

Little Rock of Horror

EXCELLENT. Perfect pacing. A funny joke that carries on through the whole episode. And Billy-in a zoot suit. What else could you ask for?

The Pie who Loved Me

Second best ECC in my humble opinion. The musicial setup was great, but once again, Cod Commando. They need to use him less.

Dream a Little Dream

Good idea. Good Exectution. Just didn't come together. I kinda wish that the 2nd round would have ended better though.

Anything I didn't mark? That's beacuse I haven't seen it yet.

So, in conclution:

Writers: Setting the tone of the series.
Art: Allways good. Getting better
Hoss: Unorginial, but good. The First Hoss episode was great, but the second....didn't have enough time.
Cod: Overused. Non-intresting. Sigh.
Evil: Getting better.
Grim: Getting way better.
Title Cards: Yeah, I wish I would have mentioned this; love the title cards.
Show: Needs more "action."

That be all for now. So, really, express your opinions on the more recent Grim and Evil episodes here.

(Today's Mission.......Failed.)

Just a quick note on Hoss:

Hoss wasn't really ever meant to be "original." He's a hybrid best described as a cross between Ash from "Evil Dead 2," Snake Plissken from "Escape from New York," and Whistler from "Blade." Just your average macho supernatural butt kicker. Who better to face off against Grim on a regular basis? And you're bang on about his appearance in Big Trouble In Billy's Basement. That episode NEEDED to be a two parter. We're talking a big end of the world type apocalypse here being brought about by possessed Billy! And what a great cliffhanger that would have been: Grim and Hoss locked in battle while Billy's house transforms into a giant interdimensional temple/portal. Open part two with Mandy hosing down Grim and Hoss and off they go to explore the interdimensional temple/portal, with Hoss taking on a wide variety of goo-covered creatures and entities, culiminating in the battle with Billy where he gets his ass kicked!

(Regarding Hoss, I'm not arguing with the fact he isn't exactly "original," just that he's designed to represent the supernatural macho butt kicking archetype. <rant>At least he's not a blatant pathetic ripoff like that Duke Nukem poser. Only one guy gets to say "Come get some," and that ain't Duke Nukem! That wanker...</rant>)

And speaking of Big Trouble In Billy's Basement, did anyone get the obscure Buffy the Vampire Slayer reference at the end of the episode?

As for favourite episodes, everyone knows I love Hoss, but Big Trouble doesn't really make the grade. Hoss just comes off looking bad. A major no-no! I'm sure Brown Evil will redeem him most thoroughly...

Speaking of next season, I've high hopes for Tween Wolf and Toadblatt's School of Sorcery. There are also others further up the pipeline that I'm eagerly awaiting...

Other favourites from this season include "Beasts and Barbarians," "Tastes Like Chicken," and "Billy's Growth Spurt."

tonight, they have a good trio of episodes on grim and evil.

the one for billy and mandy was billy's basement again, with the dude who did zim and does billy, doing sorta his zim voice again when he's possessed.. which brought back pleasant memories for his fans.

the xmas episode is aired as well for evil con carne, is the best so far.. it even has michael dorn guest voicing rupert, and i guess the guy who did the red guy (charlie adler, i think) having a voice too .. both alumni from cow and chicken/ i m weasel... and i guess, michael dorn did kinda star in star trek TNG.. AND well, maybe he starred in chips, too.

And i guess tickle me mandy comes up too.

oh my...

well, guess this had one touch of the spongebob strangeness in this one.. wierd, bizarre drawing of billy in the nightmare sequence, wasn't it, if you didn't catch it.

wierd, indeed.

RE: Tickle Me Mandy

Having had my enjoyment for this episode spoiled by reading the original outline, I have to say the final product is insipidly uncreepy. The doll was far creepier in the original version...

Sorry, no sketches. Let's just say the doll was a lot more Child's Play and a lot less Frankenstein. Seeing as how Frankenstein is WAAAAAY overdone, I was really sad to see the Child's Play aspects go...

And who wouldn't be creeped out by a doll who pulls its own string in order to talk?

Grim and Evil is the best cartoon I've seen in ages.
