I tried posting on another board to trade anime, etc. now I have this utter psycho posting bull$#!+ about me and she's even followed me to another board and telling people that I'm untrustworthy and other crap all because I want to trade off my old commercial anime. And I've NEVER dealt with her.

Well, I realize what a great board this and what wonderful mods we have. Everyone here (for the most) gets along and spats can be settled like adults. I feel that this makes this board a cut above the rest.

I completely agree with you! This board is so... peaceful and everybody here is great. I've been to some other boards (Batman and non-Batman related ones) lately and most of the posters I talked to were either childish or displeasant.

Thanks guy...*sniff*...we try. :)

Not to toot our own horn, but I've been to other boards across the net, and good boards are hard to come by. If you want a laugh, try Marvel.com's X-Men boards. I swear to god the age there must be three and half. It's the only place where "you're stupid" is an actual defense. We try to make this place the best we can!

Hey Nightwing_38116!

Where is the board you are being chewed out?
*Fish is always ready for a quick fight!!* :D

...anybody with me? hehe :)

(reminds me of gangwars...but we better not do it, cuz they might be smart enough to find their way to this board and screw up everything the MODs have been working for.)

I like to think of us as the cute little Ewoks...yeah...hehe

Does anyone reember the board wars that happened here, more specifically on this board? I remember they were rampant on the official WB Boards.

I remember a few skirmishes. The thing was it's usually only one or two people causing problems. I praise DG and the other mods because you guys rectify the situation quickly in a very fair manner and that is to your credit. In my present fiasco the mods think it's funny.

The board wars were a horrid time. It was like Apokolips...now! Any and everything bad that could possibly happen happened. But like that amazing Superman episode, the good, and most powerfull ideals shined through in the end.

Just gotta take the good along with the bad, but this site is one place with more good than any other. And when there's any bad, we all tackle it together, and help each other out. Gotta love this place.

'Board wars' being waaay before my time, I can only talk about the present. I must say what a cool board this. Intelligent people with opinions to be heard. Nice to see there's so little of the 'one word answer' posts or any general spamming.

Nice board as well, easy to use, straight forward, no hassles.

Wicked! Or as Max would say, 'Wicked'!

Sorry, just wanted to tease you about that one-word response thing. But seriously, i agree that these boards are a very nice and peaceful place to discuss the best heros out there (or i guess a more fitting way to describe it would be "the Worlds Finest"). The board wars were definately before my time also.

They're not the same as flame wars. Basically a flame war involves a poster who was "born" that way ... someone who's been cruising for a bruising right from the start. You just know this guy is going to be run out of town in about two seconds.

Nightflower did a great parody of a flame war in the Animated archives around Jan. 31 & I can't top that.

Board wars are messy. They're fights between regulars who normally get along. A "Home Improvement" episode tells it best :

Tim : "Sometimes I get Mom nice stuff before I screw up. that way I build up credit for bad stuff I haven't done yet."

Randy : "So it's like frequent screw-up miles."

Anyhow, that's why board wars hurt so much. Who gets banned, and who gets off with a warning? Both are "good guys." But it doesn't take long for other regulars to take sides. Then what? Ban half the board?

DG mentioned the smutpuppies, whose idea of fun is to just shock the moderators into quitting. Filthy as they are, those are technically flamers. I know, I know. If you're being shot at, you just want it stopped. As for board wars, I can think of two kinds.

The first one I saw began when "Bloodsport" first aired. There was one innocent question, namely, how did Terry-the-civilian get the tracking dust on his clothes. He was wearing the Batsuit when he was gassed.

Some fans proposed that this was a writer's error. They thought the suit was nonporous (i.e. like the legendary Schumacher rubber suits). This would prevent the electronic layer (the computers) from being shorted out by dust, water, etc. So Terry simply couldn't glow in the dark. Other fans insisted the suit was porous, and the dust got through the weave of the fabric, through the computer layer (without disabling it), and onto the skin. So it wouldn't matter if Terry changed clothes. Now apparently some of the posters were pre-med. They began chanting "Skin needs air! skin needs air!" and got angry and upset on the subject. Insisted that if the suit wasn't porous, poor Terry would collapse. ("Skin needs air! Skin needs air!") But if it was porous, how did the computerized layer tolerate all the constant contamination?

I remember that one because I thought Terry inhaled the dust. (Remember him coughing?) Therefore he'd contaminate himself no matter how often he changed clothes. Terry eventually took a shower because the steam would encourage him to cough up the dust. I don't think anyone answered this post. They were too busy discussing genealogy, so to speak. Anyhow, that's one kind of board war.

Another time there was a newbie named Pug who attacked another poster. She was gone for the weekend & couldn't defend herself. More to the point, she didn't do anything to deserve being attacked. About five or six posters rose up to defend her -- at which point Pug impersonated them and made them "apologize" to him. (The apologies were bolstered with denigrating remarks about why anyone would say anything so dumb.) Naturally he got banned. I remember Pug seeming genuinely surprised. You were right, whoever said it, that bad behavior is normal on other boards. Certainly this guy wasn't expecting to be punished. But he admitted he'd earned it & swore he'd never do it again if given another chance. No excuses like "I was stressed out." Just pure and undiluted grovelling.

Come to think of it, he's the only one I recall who had the guts to say so. I loathe bullying and cheap shots, but he was one of the few with the guts to apologize. Still, I haven't seen him back.

Those mysterious references to the "Board Wars" remind me of Obi Wan Kenobi's account of the "Clone Wars" :)

Being a veteran of many board wars, (man that incident in 1995 about DBZ almost permanently warped my fragile little mind) I can say without hesitation that I can't remember a thing. Will you people ostracize me because I have nothing constructive to say? Please don't. Remember, I love you guys, and that should account for something. And I think I just made SSJ's comments about the intelligent responses a bit invalid. Sorry about that.

Well, humans don't really breathe through their skin like earthworms or certain turtles...but I will grant that these people were right in being concerned about Terry's health in the Batsuit. Simply put, we sweat. When air hits the moisture on our skin, it evaporates and cools us. If the suit was airtight and Terry were to perpire excessively with no evaporation, the suit could become uncomfortable and the fluid loss would dehydrate him if he failed to replenish his stores. That is why you should never jog/work out in rubber sauna suits. Now if Terry inhaled the dust it would come out of him through his pores, just like anything else one eats/breathes/drinks...all he has to do is be patient, or maybe relax in a hot shower or steamroom, and the chemical would leave him eventually through perspiration (not by coughing it up, I would think).
Now why didn't the dust affect the computer mechanisms of the suit? Perhaps it was specially treated to bond only with skin oils and not to stick to/corrode computer parts. Lame-donkey theory, I know, but it's the best I can come up with before ten a.m....

I just thought of this while reading thru this thread....

So many other message boards on other websites are like that room on Monty Python where you went to be insulted for ten minutes. You go to some other message boards and unless you are already an established clique member, you are ostracized and you better dare not post anything that you should have read the answer to in the archive board from eight months back or you will be instantly flamed.

A couple things I noticed about this board that kinda sets it apart from others on the net is first the attitude of the moderators. They work hard to keep the boards clean and fun for everybody and are quick to put people back in line once they get out.

Also, I've liked the fact that at the top of the screen it tells us who the newest members are, which I think it is great as it is a good welcoming device for newcomers. And I noticed yesterday or the day before that it tells us who's birthday it is that day, which I thought was great! I immediately went to my profile and added my birthday in there, so you can all send me money and presents!!!

:p

No one remembers them? My memory is a big vague on them as well, but I remember the BATMAN BEYOND BOARD was THE target for any problems. Was anyone present when LE CHIFERRE and her/him/its crew posted that smut? It was up for a short time before I got it off the boards, thankfully. Here's a quote from one of those posts I saved becuase it's so dang funny:

"Mr. Grayson! If you do not hand over the boards I will stick my scrotum in your face and make you smell my bunghole and my sack!"

Yup...those were the demands. And they posted that about 800 times.

As for myself and the fellow mods, we do what we can to keep eerything running smoothly and nice. I stress that this place is all-ages, meaning a PG/PG-13 (at the most) boards and language and inappropriate material shold be keep to a bare, bare minimum. We do what we can.

In my more immature days, I was one who would go on boards just to disrupt things. One almost closed down because of lil'ol me. Good thing I grew up and learned to fly right, but those people who do that stuff aren't always all bad, just ignorant and they need some learnin! But, of course, I'm not proud of those early days on the Internet.

The sad part is that the mod would email me and say that he was not going to even repremand her because he agreed with her. I respect her right to express her opinion, but she goes too far and the name calling isn't necessary. Oh well, some people are just that way. If I was trustworthy and knowing the nature of the internet, people would know. That's life I suppose.
