Anyone else have this game? It's a blast. I got it last week and I just can't stop playing it.

Only problem is that lag can by a real pain; even with my broadband connection.

I played for a while at my friends house. It was ok, but I definitely wont be buying it. Medal of Honor is still the king of WWII first person shooters, IMO.

I want this game soooo bad!

I sort of have the same problem in finding a good UT2K3 server. Assuming your computer is decent, the problem is in your ping rate (it must be a fairly high number). You want it to be as low as possible.

Is the single player game worth talking about? I'm pretty sure there's some sort of campaign mode, right? I know it's not the focus of the game, but I was wondering if this component of the game is any fun. I hear the multiplayer's awesome, but if you have trouble with lag, then it'll probably run at about 5 fps on my connection.

Actually, with this game I hear lag depends more on a server's packet loss than the actual ping rate. This appears to be true, as I've played some servers with a low ping that had so much lag they were almost unplayable. Then there have been some with a little bit higher lag that were virtually lag free.

The interesting thing about this game is, it's the only one I know of were lag is actually higher in single player than it is in multiplayer. The reason is supposedly because single player is running so many AI scripts simultaneously that it can be a huge drain on the processor.

There is a single player campaign mode were you play through all the battles in chronological order on either the allied or axis side. It's okay, but it's really used more for learning the maps and trying new tactics than anything else. The AI can be so stupid sometimes that it's very frustrating. For example, I was setting up a mobile artillery unit on the Bocage map to overlook the bridge. I get it set up perfectly, and then one of the stupid AI teammates jumps into the driver seat (the artillery units are two seaters; one for driving and one to operate the cannon) and proceeds to drive the thing to the front-line and we both get killed. Sure that happens in multiplayer sometime too, but at least then you can tell them to stop. There have also been instances of them taking off in my tank while I'm trying to repair it.

So, I wouldn't recommend getting it if all you're able to play is single player.

And you claim this game is lagging on your computer?! Guess that doesn't give much hope to mine; it's not much different from yours. P4 2.2 GHz, 512 MB of DDR RAM and a GeForce 4 Ti 4400. I suppose this gives me one more reason to get a P4 3.0 GHz chip when Intel releases it.
