We all know that Disney censors its cartoon shorts, but how many of their cartoon feature films have scenes censored? And what's being cut out?

well, the re-release of The Rescuers on video had an edit removing a painting of a nude woman in the background.

The Lion King had some odd shaped smoke/cloud that may or may not have spelled out "sex" and I believe that was cut from the video release.

The laserdisk version of Who Framed Roger Rabbit had about 4 frames of Jessica Rabbit included that proved she didn't wear underwear.

There are some others, I believe, just can't remember what they are. There's a really neat website called www.snopes.com that deals with "urban legends" and they have a whole section on Disney and his movies. They go into detail on these and many other things, like the mysterious phrase in Aladdin and the priest in Little Mermaid....

Several scenes of "The Pastoral Symphony" have been removed from Fantasia because they included a little black girl.

Here is a site where you can see those deleted scenes.

Also, Make Mne Music had the short "The Martins and the Coys" removed entirely, probably due to hillbilly stereotypes and violence, Melody Time had scenes of Pecos Bill smoking taken out, and Saludos Amigos lost scenes of Goofy smoking.

Some argue that the dust spelled "SFX" to represent "Special Effects." This would makes sense, since I think they needed some special effects people to put the dust there.

I believe in these politcally correct times, Disney's "Song of the South" has been edited down to zero minutes in length. ;)
