First, I won't even debate how groundless that statement is, and second, I loved this movie. Sid is, without question, the (vocal) performance of John Leguizamo's career.

First of all, that was only in the "Simpsons Quote Quiz" thread when you a) insisted on posting more than one quote, which you should know by now is against the rules, and b) posted quotes while people were trying to figure out quotes that were already posted.

Second, it's obvious that we saw different films. "Ice Age" was, first and foremost, NOT a rip-off of "Shrek", and in addition, it was a hilarious, great-looking, wonderfully scored (by David Newman) and, at times, touching animated film that I'm calling one of the best of the year.

Lastly, if a mod decides to close this thread because of some flame war that shouldn't even exist, as far as I'm concerned, please go ahead. The General got his answer, and besides, this thread's on the wrong board anyway. Thank you.

I can't wait til Ice Age comes out - I loved this movie! And all the added extras are just the icing on the cake. I liked Diego the most - maybe because I'm a big Denis Leary fan :)

If anything, the whole Ice Age plot kinda rips off "Monsters Inc." in a way - the animals found the kid and try to bring him back to his family..

shrek came first!. and is the only animated movie since the beauty and the beast onwinningan oscar. iceage was too stupid. only a few critics loved iceage. but still i'm gonna say shrek is best. and besides it doesn't matter if is on the wrong board. the person who started this was just asking a question. evrybody makes mistakes.

It came out here last week. What I find funny is that the Scrat short here is called "Gone Nutty". Is "Scrat's Missing Adventure" a different short or just a different name?

I do not believe thet are.....

Shrek was made by Dream Works.

Ice Age was made by Fox (who used some lesser known CGI company which is located in New York.) The lesser known company is called Blue Sky Studios (http://www.blueskystudios.com/features.html) They aren't a big company, took them 3 years to complete the movie, and it took 30 animators to make the film.

"Shrek" was released in May 2001.

"Ice Age" was released in March 2002.

Doing the math, that marks a ten-month difference.

The idea that an animation studio would and could produce a computer-animated..."rip-off" of a successful film like "Shrek" in ten months is as unlikely as it is laughable. Here's an opportunity for you to learn something today: it takes a minimum of two years (from story concept to final cut) to create an animated film.

What's more, "Ice Age" opened to glowing reviews, not to mention a $42 million opening weekend.

"Shrek" is the only animated film to win an Oscar; the category of "Best Animated Feature" was instituted starting this year (and if "Ice Age" isn't nominated in the category this winter, then I'll know for sure that the Oscars are fixed). "Beauty and the Beast" was nominated for "Best Picture".

Lastly, would it kill you to capitalize some of the words in your post?

P.S. Why is this thread still open?
