Whoa....Batman Beyond's being yanked off the air? When was this announced?
Well, I wouldn't harbor any ill will towards Far East culture as a whole (gave us Confucious, Buddhism and all)----just certain TV programs of theirs... :-)

Wonders if people in Japan feel the same way over having "Baywatch" or something of similar American stature foistered on them ... :-)

Though there wasn't an "official" item on the news pages I could see, from what I can tell from the WF bulletin board topic on this/the schedules, KWB's not only replacing BB with "Sailor Moon", but is also yanking their morning lineup? Too many problems I can see if this is true:
Unless they're running "Rescue Heroes" or something six days a week in the afternoons, they risk running afoul of the FCC's minimum 3-hour E/I content rule...or unless the lack of morning schedule listings is just a mistake (since I thought "Heroes" was supposed to be H!'s replacement in the mornings). And if they really *are* yanking their morning lineup, I fear to imagine what the various individual stations will replace it with (around here, probably infomercials or the lame shows they had on before it became a KWB affiliate: "Wacky World of Tex Avery" for one....I'm still wondering if they'll keep up the Bullwinkle repeats they currently run at 6:30 AM here).
With BB completely gone, there really wouldn't be much reason to tune into KWB at all even for old reruns... well, I might give "Jackie Chan"'s weekday run a go, but probably not a regular viewer by any means. Sounds like CN really *is* where it's at these days...sigh...

Pity, ain't it? Some of KWB's most classic shows are being taken off the air, and to be replaced by all these new animes....
....though I do not hate the Far East! On the contrary, it's pretty cool. I am just trying to find a anime that suits me for now, thus the disrespect I have now for Pokemon and Sailor Moon....bah.
Tex Avery was alright, but I shudder to think of what MY station will grab for the morning time slot! (shudders)
So "Rescue Heros" are KWB's educational replacement? Hm....maybe it's time I went over to KWB and do some complaining....

Um...hello?
Sailor Moon is probably not going to be a permanent KWB show. It IS still a Toonami show, and like Dragon Ball Z, will probably be on for a few weeks only. Like, that's what this Toonami thing on KWB was all about, y'know? To shuffle Toonami shows around their timeslots, though irregularly.
And let's take a look at this "far-east" invasion everybody's been claiming:
The Mummy: Western
Rescue Heroes: Western
Sherlock Holmes in the 20th Century: Western
R.L. Stine's Something: Western live-action
X-Men Evolution: Western
Cubix: Western/Eastern production, hardly a new thing.
Zeta Project: Western
Jackie Chan: Western
Static Shock: Western
Pokemon: Anime
Cardcaptors: Anime
Yugi-Oh: Anime
KWB has only introduced one anime show a season since Pokemon, and frankly, I see nothing wrong with one or two anime shows a season. This is hardly the "invasion" I'm hearing about. And there is no proof that anime will ever "take over" as many so call it. Why? The only successful anime shows have been Digimon and Pokemon. That's it. Cardcaptors is hardly a major show on KWB, and many anime Pokemon copycats have died as fast as they have been introduced.
They air Pokemon all the time, you say? That is not an anime "takeover," that is a "Pokemon" takeover.
So the next time you say that anime is "replacing" your classic shows, try to remember that there are a lot of "crap" Western shows replacing them as well as the "crap" anime ones.
Yes, anime is a major part of Cartoon Network, but it has become more of a hangout for anime fans who want to see less-edited anime on TV. I see nothing wrong with this, PLUS...
As I understand it, Toonami's anime hours only cover about 3-4 hours a day on CN, and maybe about 1-2 hours in the early morning hours where only the most dedicated are watching. There are 24 hours in a day. That is hardly a "takeover." Sometimes they have marathons on special days like Saturday or whatnot, but it is not a permanent thing.

Say...
All right, I'll concede to you the title of victor in the argument on the anime invasion. Do note, however, that I was talking about KWB-CN will treat its own western shows well, and as you said, the anime there is not only shown that much, but it's also apparently not that edited. Kudos to CN.
Probably by the anime invasion apprent hypocrites like me have been talking about...
Pokemon not only is airing all the time as you said, but also KWB started buying more animes, though as you said, it's only once a season. Which would be fine and dandy, but what I fear, though, is that anime will, even at a once pr twice o' season rate, start filling up every time slot, and not just Pokemon...there's bound to be another fad anime out there...which would eventually get chopped up and mangled ala Pokemon, and start pushing out other shows out like Pokemon did. As for Toonami and S. Moon, well, S. Moon is infamous for being one of the more well known animes out there. I am afriad that knowing this, KWB will decide to air it to death ala Pokemon, even if only for a non-permanent time.
Crappy western shows? Yeah, most are. But our problem is that most of the non-crappy shows like Batman Beyond and MIB have been told not to make any more eppys, and KWB has killed off it's Silver Age streak with H! being taken out to saddle. I am quite frankly dissapointed by these too, especially Stine's latest attempt on a show...I have a vendetta against 'Rescue Heros' for replacing H!...there will probably soon be rants on these shows once they start airing...
....so I yield to you on the argument. But considering how KWB was so focused on grabbing animes....that's probably where my rant came on how shows were apparently getting replaced by animes...
(and I wait for this rant to get ripped apart and chasitsed upon... :( )

Well...I agree and disagree.
I think the number of anime shows on CN WILL increase to the point that a separate channel may very well become reality, but I think it will decrease on networks.
Why?
Because networks aren't willing to take new chances. They get shows that are "similar" to Pokemon so there probably won't be another fad because they won't take the risk to air a "totally different" anime to become a fad. Name me one anime on network TV since Pokemon that didn't have some similarities to Pokemon.
That would be Escaflowne on Fox Kids. And it lasted barely a month.
Many people don't remember, but Pokemon WAS a unique and pretty fresh "fad" when it first hit American airwaves. BUT...
The show would never have debuted on network TV. It began as a syndicated show (remember these?) distributed to stations to serve as local programming. But it grabbed such smashing ratings at such ridiculously early timeslots that it was a bonafide hit. THEN KWB picked up the show because it was already a hit. But it would have been too risky for network TV to strongly get behind had it been new and unestablished.
BTW--Dragon Ball Z is infinitely more popular than Sailor Moon...and while it will likely air again on KWB, one must keep in mind that this CN-KWB deal is not an attempt to permanently "trade" shows between the two. It is meant to be a cross-promotion deal. Otherwise, Dragon Ball Z would have been aired in some semblance or order (as best as the idiots at KWB can do, that is). So what I consider these Toonami "guest shows" is that they are exactly what they are: guest shows. What I saw on KWB last week or so was not Dragon Ball Z, it was a SAMPLE of Dragon Ball Z. All the episodes of that week were grabbed from different seasons, but were all fragments of a larger story. That is not a show, that is a sample.
Looking at the Sailor Moon schedule, I see the same thing. I see episodes grabbed from seasons 1, 2, 3, and 4. That is what I consider a "sample" of the show, not a true airing.
It's not like KWB only gets the anime shows from CN. Look at Samurai Jack, another "guest" show airing on KWB next weekend in a cushy 9:30am slot (depending on where you live).
The idea is not to steal Toonami's thunder, but to promote it. They won't plaster all these CN anime shows over their timeslots because it's supposed to tantalize the viewer to watch CN, not make viewers say, "Gee, if it's on KWB all the time, why should I watch CN?" Unless KWB is desperate for ratings (and they are far from desperate), Toonami's anime airing on KWB will remain "sample" shows.
Remember: think like a businessman.

http://130.94.172.139/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4592 . That's tha article on this that I posted. Also, only ONE BB timeslot is being yanked, not both. This may change on Sept. 17th. In another news article, I wrote that Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century will not come to Kids' WB! as originally scheduled. For more, check out the newspage.

Hmph, no more morning KWB shows..makes me wonder what my local affiliate will show (esp. with the apparent dearth of [decent] syndicated children's/animated programming nowadays with everyone making exclusive network/studio agreements and whatnot; I wouldn't be surprised if they went with infomercials/reruns of some lame live-action show....).

Really hoping this doesn't mean the end of early morning "Bullwinkle" repeats for my local WB affiliate...

That's rather sad news about Batman Beyond. Now it really has gone downhill. Why watch the WB anymore? Their live-action shows rann dry years ago, "Kid's wB!" is no longer the animation revolution but the animation DE-volution....man, this stinks. I'd give anything to watch "Pinky and the Brain" again on a weekday afternoon without the orangle lighningbolt and weird edits....

I'm so glad that Batman Beyond is moving to Cartoon Network - the best place for cartoons. Finally we'll be able to see "Unmasked."

Cartoon Network is the best thing that ha shappened. They're getting all the good d the stuff that KWB has is just crap. Crap, crap, crap, crap. I barely even watch the channel when a few years back I was a steady watcher, rarely missing a program. Now, there's nothing there to watch.
