View Full Version : Batman research paper
Greetings, everybody! I'm in need of some assistance.
I'm writing a ten-page research paper on Batman for my English class. I figure I'll write about the creation of Batman and how he's changed over the years. Does anyone know any good Batman resources? They can be websites, books, print articles, anything fairly easily accessible (the paper is due November 11). Thanks!

I can't recommend Batman: The Complete History (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0811824705/qid%3D1035309581/sr%3D11-1/ref%3Dsr%5F11%5F1/103-7429377-2932629) highly enough for exactly this purpose. I just got this book on eBay and read it this past weekend. Covers Batman's comic history in exhausting detail, although I think it tends to shy away a bit from controversy sometimes.

Hey, is that the one that came out in 1989? If it is, I couldn't agree more. That's about the best pre-90's Bat-source there is.
You could also try the BATMAN & ME autobiography by Bob Kane. It has a lot of good tidbits in there, too.

And of course the book "Batman: Animated" is the ultimate source for anything pertaining to the Batman Animated Series, so if you want to include anything on that, check that one out.

Wow, sounds like one heck of an awesome paper! What exactly is the topic? Batman: The Complete History and Batman: Animated are easily the two best books anywhere concerning Batman. If you want to try some online sources, BeyondGotham's site: Batman: Yesterday, Today, Beyond (http://www.geocities.com/batcars/) has just about everything concerning Batman from every form.

Thanks for all your help! I shall definitely check out all those sources. If you want, I could maybe post my paper online when i'm finished.

Hey Cere, we'd all love to read it! What's the thesis you're working with, anyway?
I've done a few Batman papers in my classes over the years, too. I know I did a thread about "Batman in our Academic Lives" here once, I should go find it...*STARTS RUMMAGING*

Well, I was lucky enough to be able to "write an essay about any topic I wanted" in an English Language class - first year. My question was "Who is the Best Batman and why". :)

Yeah, same here, it's a research paper on the topic of my choice.
Thesis-wise, I'll be writing about how Batman has evolved over the years. That should be fun, with the original comics, camp with Adam West Batman and the Superfriends, then to more serious movies and Bruce Timm's animated series.
Barb, that Batman site is huge! It'll be a great resource! I haven't checked out the books yet, but I'll get on that very soon.

-Tim Actually, it was 1999. It's almost a POST-90's Bat-source. I never read it, but if it was nearly as thorough as the Superman History book, it's worth the money.
