Howdy,

I'm beginning a serious Golden/Silver Age kick, and the only way to be a completist with this is to get the "archive editions" that DC puts out. I love the design and finish of the books, but man they're expensive.

So far, I've relied on eBay to get the ones I'm looking for (Hawkman and Superman Vol. 1 so far). What about you folks? Do you get these things? If so, which ones do you have? If not, why not?

I've got Golden Age Green Lantern and Golden Age Flash. I really want to buy some more, namely Starman, Hawkman, Silver Age Flash, Silver Age Green Lantern, All-Star Comics, Black Canary, Action Comics and maybe a volume or two of Dark Knight (is that what books are called that reprint the very early Detective Comics?)

i think those prices are ridiculous! batman dark victory hard cover has more pages than an archive edition and they're both the same size, and it costs me 30 bucks. as an archive edition would cost 50! i only bought the batman archive b/c its now 20 bucks. i dont get why dc doest lower all of them to 20. most of them have been around since 1990. 12 years later, i think the price should be lowered.

but anyway, maybe some day if i hit the lottery i will buy all the superman and batman archives.

I don't buy the archive editions - I don't really care to read all the stories from the 40's and 50's, at least not now. I do appreciate how DC is releasing them, though - I'll probably go back and buy them all some day when I have the money on me. :)

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to the dog races.

I don't own any, but I've been seriously considering in getting Will Eisner's Spirit archives. Great stuff!

I would love to, but to drop $50 on one book - cannot do it. I can spend my $$$ on many other things. I guess if it was a one time only spend I might, but to collect the whole run, its just too expensive. I'd rather spend my $$$ on the DC Direct Statues :D

I love the Archives! I have Batman 1-5, Dark Knight 1-3, Superman 1-2, Green Lantern 1, Flash 1, New Teen Titans 1, Shazam 1-2, Justice League of America 5-7 (they were on sale), World's Finest 1, 2, Batman in World's Finest 1, and the Spirit 1-3.

I tend to spend most of my money at Wizard World Chicago and the Motor City Comicon on whatever Archives I can get at a good price. I usually spend about $25 each on them, which is very reasonable, considering that's less than the dealers had to pay for them in the first place. I look forward to the day when I find the Legion Archives at a good price, and I can complete my Justice League of America set.

By the way, there is a store that frequently advertises in Comics Buyer's Guide that sells Archives for $35 each. I don't remember the name of it, though.

I bought one of the Batman ones. They *are* kind of pricey . . .

I have all the Batman Archives. But I am not going to get the Archive that is coming out in FEB/MAR, I have no interest in the 60's Batman.

Also just picked up the Enemy Ace.

I usually get Archives at Amazon for $35.
I got Batman: The World's Finest Archive on EBAY for $30 plus $3 shipping.
