Anyway the only reason I can think of is Time Warner in their infenat wisdom  thought A! would service the TTA fan base so there was no need to produce more except for speicals which they promised in '93 and we got a few.

Just one of the great mysteries in the world. TV networks are notorious for cancelling shows with dedicated fan bases.
Despite being cut off in its prime, 'Tiny Toons' for me will always be the best cartoon of the 90s. ( actually, it's my favourite cartoon ever period )

My guess would be ratings at the time, but really wouldn't know for sure. All I know is that it was a sad time when this show came to an end and I ended up holding a grudge against Animaniacs for all of its Fox run due to this. Just glad that it's almost a decade after the last regular episode aired and Tiny Toon Adventures is far from being forgotten.

That would make sense, especially since I remember Fox bringing up Tiny Toons a lot when they were introducing Animaniacs to the world. Heck, they even made the intro very similar to TTAs. But it doesn't make sense to why they'd replace the series if the ratings where still good. Guess that's network executives for you. On the bright side, atleast the series ended in its prime rather then dragging on like other cartoons have.

I'm glad A! came around but it seems A! came at the cost of TTA. Bascily I think the suits didn't want to fund both and just settled for some TTA specials. Or maybe they simply thought the two would be taking fans away from each other.

That and there was also the issue that TTA was getting to the 100-ep mark already. For a while, the two did overlap ... I have some A! documentation dating back to 1991.

-- Kane ... now if I can only find it ...

-- Kane ... now if I can only find it ... I'm not so sure about the 100 mark. TTA go to it pretty fast so they had to be working on the first season of A! before they even hit the 100 mark and thinking about it even sooner. TTA didn't have the problem A! had later on of reruns having ratings close to new eps that was a cause for A! to be canned plus we are taking about Fox Kids here not Kids WB so I don't know if WB was thinking of the 100 mark since if A! wasn't around they would have probably kept pumping out TTA as long as Fox ordered them. I think the 100 mark is more of a fluke with WBA shows.

Not really ... the 100 mark has been the magical number for being able to sell in syndication later. Most buyers will not commit to getting a series in which they'll run out of episodes in only a few weeks ...

-- NC But think about it TTA hit 100eps in 3 years A! would have hit 100 eps in 1995 if Kids WB never happend so what are you saing Fox would have to throw A! away in '95 when WBA had no replacement for it plus A! would have been in its prime. So of course another season would have been made since Fox would have been thinking of ratings not syndication since syndication would have been WB's problem not theirs and there has been syndication of cartoons that have more eps then 100 since 113,132,165,ect still works out.

Thus why I think the 100 mark with WB is a fluke

Basically, what I think is that they were for the can in syndication, then Fox bought the rights and made a few new episodes. They cancell everything. It's Fox! Once they got Power Rangers, they got cancellitis, and cancelled just about everything BUT the Rangers. Don't get me started.

BTW, I always liked Animaniacs a little better than TTA, but Pinky and the Brain is my favorite of all!

The reason TTA went out of production was quite simply that there was no one to work on it -- everyone who'd been on the TTA was busy working on the first 65 episodes of Animaniacs. The idea, at the time, was that they'd keep TTA alive with specials (like the Spring Break special and the "Night Ghoulery" special) and then maybe make some new episodes at a later date. In fact, Tom Ruegger gave an interview circa 1997 where he said "There's a demand for new Tiny Toons and I think there's a good chance of it." But the implosion of WBA pretty much put an end to that.
