Much like the comic book, the creative team behind the animated Justice League will attempt to focus on individual characters for stories. Comics Continuum reported that the show will be somewhat like the current comic book.

"A lot of the decisions we made about how to approach a character had to with putting together a group dynamic so that each character has a role in the group, so that we understand how they fit in and how they react to the others," producer/story editor Rich Fogel revealed, "With SuperFriends, and this is not to put it down, but a lot of times they were just the good guys and they were pretty much interchangeable in terms of what they did or how they reacted to things. We're trying to get it so they're very specific as to what their concerns are or what issues push their buttons."

Bruce Timm said that they'll draw influence from comics such as Fantastic Four and The Avengers in terms of character interaction. They did research into other comics to help get a sense of what they'll be doing in terms of interaction. They'll stray from the concept of Superfriends where every character was just a carbon copy of each other with different powers.

Bruce Timm continues on, saying: "So, we kind of have to find a balance between all that stuff. If anything, we're probably going more toward the Grant Morrison version. But it's not as dark and as complicated as that. We think what we found in the Grant Morrison comics that we like is the fact that they were more of a dysfunctional family. Not that they bicker all the time. But we just want to have them not get along and not be the happy Superfriends all the time."
