View Full Version : What Does Yu Yu Hakusho Mean?

I know we've all wondered this before and I just now thought to ask it. What does Yu Yu Hakusho mean? I can't figure it out, if anyone knows please tell me.

I've wondered that too, at first I thought it was the name of the main character, until I saw it. I think the Yu Yu part is taken from the first two letters of Yusuke's first and last name, but I have no idea what Hakusho means.

Yu Yu Hakusho means Ghost Files, which FUNi uses as the subtitle for the series.

Manga likes to use Polgerist Report, that is okay as well.

I

I believe you mean Central Park Media.. seeing how Manga never laid its dirty hands on Hakusho.

But anyway.. I've seen it translated three ways.. Ghost Files, Polgerist Report and Ghost Fighter.

I've seen the movie for sale on various sites and they all list Manga as the distributor. I was just assuming it was Manga, but again, I don't really know.

That's not the point, anyway.

I know this is against the rules, but as long as we're on the topic of Yu Yu Hakusho, I have another question. Does anyone know of any good sites that have mp3 downloads of some of the songs, I've looked a lot but can't find any. Please don't close this thread.

It's not against the rules. Theme songs are fair game. Check the AS page's Download section. I'm sure there's other sites too.

But why would you purposely do something that you thought was against the Rules? :confused: Bad, bad idea.

You don't understand, I was asking if anyone knew of any good sites to download mp3s of songs that play during the series, not the theme song. I've already downloaded that. I thought it was illegal because in the rules it says no discussion of downloading is allowed. So tell me, is is illegal or isn't it?

I belelive asking for downloads of the EPISODES is illegal but I dont know about Background music unless the show had a soundtrack that was sold publically in places other than import stores. (But it might not matter where it's sold, if there is one, then it might be against the rules)

nope...that would be CPM my friend. they did the original release of it over here...as a matter of fact they have a rerelease going for sale right now. i have no idea if it was redubbed for the FUNI VA's but somehow i doubt it. it really doesnt matter either way since i wont touch the dub from either with a 50 foot pole.

Manga does not have anything to do with Yu Yu Hakusho. There is a manga of Yu Yu Hakusho, but that is owned by VIZ.

I'm not really good in Japanese, but I believe "Yu Yu" is like a sound effect that ghost supposed to make. "Hakusho" means white paper. Thus we see the title translated variously as "Ghost Files" or "Poltergeist Report" -- which is good enough.

If you can only get it from the episode itself, it's fine. If it's on CD or something, that's probably not a good idea. I think that the reason why the Baby Blues and Mission Hill themes are OK is because they're shortened versions of the songs.

I know they sell several YYH soundtracks, but none of them have been licensed in the US, I don't believe.

this one has MP3s of Kurama's image songs all four of them and the Duet of Youko Kurama and Hiei, as well as an MP3 of Kurama's theam. The music that was playing when Yusuke was chasing that kids soul in ep:6

yea same here except its not from YYH, its the song that plays while the credits are going at the end of ATHF on the episdode where Brak loses his voice and he coughs it up into a jar. I dont remeber the name of the episode tho, but anyway if anyone knows where i can dl a clip of that song , please tell me
