I was talking about the fact that DC and Marvel comics both have a Captain Marvel, and my roommate told me that Marvel's character is pronounced differently, with the stress on the second syllable. (Captain MarVEL instead of MARvel.) True?

Mar-vell was the real name of Marvel's original Capt. Marvel, who was the father of the current one. (He was Kree, which is why his name is weird. And he was a real Captain in the Kree army.) But everyone on Earth just pronounced it the easier way--Captain Marvel.
