View Full Version : Something wierd happened to me on my way back to the boards...

Earlier, my AOL performed an illegal function, which automatically shut down my AOL program. I was active on the boards at the time, and in no less than two minutes, I had AOL back up and running, and back online, and back on the boards. Only when I got back on the boards, it was as if I had never logged on, ok? It said I had to register to use the boars, as if I was a newbian guest or I had logged off after my previous visit. I thought this was odd, since I was active, and only a scant two mintues passed by since I was on.
Not thinking much beyond the usual, oh well, I went to the bottom of the screen to log on and CALHOUN07 WAS LISTED AS A MEMBER ON THE PAGE! This was like that Twilight Zone episode where the guy called his own house, AND HE ANSWERED THE PHONE! How could I be logged off the boards and active at the same time?

Dude, that's the story of my life, it happens every time I use this board. I have to reenter my password and username for every single post. Kind of annoying. You guys see the pain I go through to talk you all? ;)

I am forced to log on AGAIN for every post too! It gets annoying, because sometimes when I am posting a post, it says the person who was posting a reply (me) is not registered....and when I register and thus am able to post a post, it says the THREAD that I am posting to is not found! Thus making me go all the way back to the thread and retype the post....it gets VERY annoying...
Any OTHER people with log on problems?

usually you have to sign in again (if you don't sign out yourself that is) if your cookies are deleted. Maybe AOL deleted your cookies or somthing. As for the member part, maybe it recognized your IP and knew you were calhoun, but wanted you to log in anyway? Or maybe cuz you didn't willingly close the toonzone window..you were kicked off, and ToonZone didn't read that...

Dude, you described what's going on with me to a T. I'll even "cookie in" on the mainpage, and sometimes don't get to post at all!
I've sent an email to Harley and Brian, but haven't heard back from them yet.
What browser do you use? I use the @ Home browser.

Uh....my broswer?? Gee....uh, lemme check. ...
It's called a Max 6 browser, I use it at home. Sorry, I am DEFINANTLY not a techno guy, so that's why I panicked there for a bit....
....I hope it's just my computer that's causing the problem and not the board... :(

Maybe you have your browser set to reject cookies? You can change this for IE by following directions here
http://support.access.wa.gov/accessknowbase/root/public/13.htm
Just change to either "Prompt" or "Accept"
I hope that solves the problem.
For other browsers, look at Internet Options. For IE, this is under "Tools" on the toolbar. Then under that category look at Security settings. Cookies should be somewhere under there. Try following some pathway like that, there should be one of those things listed under the toolbar.

I think Bird Boy hit it right on the beak on that one. Cal, AOL does the exact same thing to me too. I don't have to log in before every single reply I type, but the problem still remains. When I'm on my lap top, though, I don't have any problems.

Yeah, it could have done something to my cookies during the illegal function, but I do keep my cookies turned on so I don't have to log on each time I visit the boards. It was just odd seeing my SN at the bottom as an active user but yet I wasn't logged on as Calhoun07. Is that the online equivalent to an out of body experience?

I just went to make a reply in the DVD section and it asked for my password so I don't think it was the illegal error or AOL which caused it, its probably just the UBB being whacky. Of course I was replying to Calhoun's post...have I been...infected

I recently had the same log-on problem of seeing my double as well...but you simply need to log on again, that's all-nothing bad will happen.
I'll try the cookie thing....maybe that's my problem. Thanks for the tech-support, guys!:)

I had this problem last night too! I came to the board, could not post since I was not logged in, but the main page said "Welcome Joe Tully!" Hopefully it's a one-time thing. I wonder if it could be somehow related to the server change?
