Who was your favorite villian on the 1960s show(if you even watched it) My vote would go to Cesar Romero's Joker, followed by Burgess Meredith's Penguin:)

Ohhhh...what a fun poll! I have to say that the Joker is my fave, also followed by the Penguin. I'd put the Riddler towards the top, too, with Catwoman up there.

Burgess Meredith was brilliant. Equal parts comic and menace, with wonderful tics and quirks particular to and defining the character.
But I have to go with Julie Newmar. I was only three years old when I first saw her, and for reasons I could not yet comprehend, I was mesmerized.

definetly Joker..I loved him in the Batman movie..and Joker..I LOVE your avatar..it's sweet.
Riddler comes a close second... he was really cool in the Batman movie as well. Definetly my 2 favorites.

Definately the Joker. Cesar Romero was awesome. I loved those corny jokes he always made!

Hmm this is a pretty good thread. I'ts too hard cause Romero's Riddler, Merediths Penguin, Gorshin's Riddler, and Newmars Catwoman were all so good. But I'd go with the Penguin or The Joker too.

Cesar Romero, Burgess Meredith, and Frank Gorshin were all brilliant in their roles of Joker, Penguin, and the Riddler. Another good one was Otto Preminger as Mr. Freeze (The 2nd Freeze). Yeah I know that Mr. Freeze on the the TV Show is nothing like what he is now, but hey this was back in 1966. Newmar had to be the best of the three Catwomans they had. Eartha Kit was probably the worst choice they could have ever have for Catwoman. Catwoman went from hot to not.

CATWOMAN!! i use to have such a crush on her. but i think julie newmar's catwoman and adam west's batman had such perfect chemistry that transended all the camp and stuff. peace.

Did anyone like Eartha Kitt as Catwoman? I hated her. She was a good actress, although not fitted for Catwoman, IMHO.

No, not really. I never liked Lee Meriweather as Catwoman either. Julie Newmar was the one and only in my opinion.:)

well, as much as i LOVE the Joker, Catwoman (the Newmar version, of course!) and Penguin, I'd have to say the Riddler(s).
Frank Gorshin was just incredible, so over the top and nutty it was excellent (still think he would have been great as the Joker tho) and then when 'Gomez' took over the role he complimented the character so well that he ranks up there with Gorshin.

I was reading Adams book "Back to the Batcave" recently, and he said that Otto was the most unprofesional, and hated guest star of the cast to ever be on the show. If you're a fan, I recomend you read the book, becuase it covers the time before the tv show and after. Very informative.

Yeah, I already know about awful, evil Otto Preminger. He was supposely a big cry baby on the set and made sexual remarks to the women. Preminger was actually known to be quite evil in real life. He was a director. Once on his set a fire broke out and had one of the actress trapped. He didn't allow the flames to be extingished until he could film the fire. There's also rumors that he hit people or insisted that people really hit one another in his films. He's been said to have really talked down to actors and made them feel low. Yeah he probably was a real evil jerk, but that also made him a good villain in my opinion.
