The ratings didn't lie. The people came to series in droves. The WB's broadcast of the pilot film remains their highest-rated showing of the season. And now, Turner Network Television (TNT) has given it another chance to rock the world. Witchblade has been renewed for another 13 episodes.
Witchblade, a supernatural cop drama based on the highly popular Top Cow book from Image Comics, is TNT's first successful original series, averaging a 2.3 rating for its first 10 weeks on cable (Tuesday at 9 p.m.), which is 64 percent higher than the programming, primarily movies, that were running in the time period a year ago. Witchblade has become a marquee show for the network, which debuted a new look just as the series began its run, even outshining previous original shows like Bull (a Wall Street drama) and the disasterous (thanks in part to testosterone-driven TNT execs) Babylon 5 spinoff, Crusade.
With double-digit increases in the key 18-34 demo in BOTH sexes, it's no wonder Witchblade has become a success TNT believes in.
