For Statistics class this year, we were assigned an extra credit project which was: To make a poster laying out the steps it took to create a game (both video game and computer) from first conception to final product. I thought, why not ask the people at Toonzone for help! Of course I’m not looking for you guys to answer this question for me, I must do research myself :D .
I’m just asking you guys for a basic layout of how things go so I can research those sections and more efficiently finish the project.
Thanks!

It depends on the scope of the game.
Are you looking at a small game like tic tac toe?
Or
Are you looking at a large production game like Final Fantasy X?

Just like the production of a game…not a basic game like Tic Tac Toe, something more along the lines of a computer game like EverQuest, or any of the current video games. I just need a basic idea on the steps companies use to create on of these games.

Anyway here is a real basic example of how games are made.
Like a show or movie the first step is pre-production this is when the idea is worked out on paper and based on that a development plan is derived.
Then programers get the basics of gameplay working then art, music and such is added on till the game is released.
Testers keep testing the game through its development and before it is released it goes through one last test to see if there are any bugs left.
