"Well, the director and his wife (Schwalbach) have a baby girl, Harley Quinn, who turned two in June, and Smith said he's likely to come up with a movie about fatherhood. And if that's the case, it probably means fewer jokes about girl-chasing, dope-smoking and religion. Although, you can probably bet there will be plenty of fart jokes because maybe Kevin Smith's moved on, but babies will always be babies, and that means a lot of dirty diapers."

I'm sure TZ's own Harley Quinn must at least be a teasny bit envious....

Interesting! If I ever have a family, I dunno if I could name a kid after some part of what would be the pop culture....
....but hey, who am I to complain? It's certainly not THAT strange a name....and we've heard weirder. Best o' luck to the new family, though they'll never read this post....

Now, one can only wonder if the kid is named after the classic character, the Harlequin... or our favorite Criminal Clown Diva (okay, I couldn't come up with anything better =X ), Ms. Harleen Quinzelle...

For a guy so much a part of pop culture, the child could only be named after the crown princess of crime... Harley!

I just remembered what Paul Dini said about his cameo in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back! I think I'll go post it on the newsboard.

Oh, yeah, this isn't news. I think Kevin Smith was planning this name before she was even born.

It's better than that couple on the news who bid the name for their baby off on ebay, and the baby got named after the highest paying coroporation. I don't know who won the auction tho, I didn't follow the story to the end.

A baby got named after a corporation.
Oh. My. God.
WHAT THE-no, I will refrain from vulgarities here....
What the heck is this world coming too?! My god, I feel for the child. Those parents...geez, I'd like to smack them for auctioning off a name.
Geez....

Yup, it happened. The winner was ESPN, so that'll be the kid's name (pronounced es-pen).

That kid's going to truly hate his parents later in life.

Sigh...I guess some people truly will do (in the words of Daffy Duck) "anything for a buck"... (I know, poster-formerly-known-as-beepbeep, Daffy said it in one of those cheesy old 60's Daffy-Speedy 'toons, but it still seems like an appropriate line for the Duck :-)

-B.
Will stave off from pondering what the heck it is that ESPN hoped to get out of the deal...

Slightly ot here. When I found out that the twins in Detention had the names Oranjella & Lemonjella, I was reminded of something. My dad used to work for the local DHS (state, not national), & he came across people with all kinds of unusual names, including sisters named Orangeronica & Lemoneronica. I kid you not.

Espn. Yeah, that will look good when the kid hits public schools. Heck, they found enough to pick on me with my name of JEFF, imagine being named after a TV NETWORK!

Makes you wonder which is worse, the parents or the coroporations who actually bid on this name? I mean, the parents are pretty bad for doing it, but I hope to GOD they call the kid something else in private, kinda like the Toonzone cat is Dot in private and that Killer-and etc name for public appearances. So, maybe, maybe they could be forgiven. But the coroporation who bid the most to use a HUMAN BEING to advertise their product? How low would THEY stoop?

Obviously they stooped THAT low... :(
....but here's hoping that nothing this stupid will happen again. The network will probably force the kid to go by ESPN no matter what....
