Yippee!!! I'm heading down to New York City!!!

Of course, being a Canadian often leaves me at a disadvantage when it comes to picking up prized B:TAS, S:TAS and JL merchandise, so I'm seeing this trip (at least in part) as a way to pick up some sweet toys I've yet to get. What I'm asking of you New Yorkers, is to suggest the name and address of a store you know has some good stuff - but please nothing in the middle of nowhere! I'm trusting y'all to not lead me into a dark alley :p

Basically, what I'm looking for includes the ShadowCast Batcave with Alfred figure, the original B:TAS Poison Ivy, Joker and Riddler figures, as well as the Batman or Batman Returns Batmobile and Catwoman figure. Ya, I know I probably won't find these things unless I'm willing to shell out serious $$$, but I'm not - so suggest, if you can, some nice stores where I might find some of these items or any old Master Of the Universe stuff or She-Ra Princess of Power toys fo a reasonable price (the exchange rate is murder!!!)

I really hope to find some neat toys during my brief trip, and hopefully, with your help I'll be able to! Thanks again!!! ;)

EDIT: Picking up that S:TAS Supergirl, Superman, Bizarro and Metallo four pack or the Lois Lane four pack would also put a very big smile on my face!

try midtowncomics.com
they're located in manhattan, check their website for an address and ph#, call to see if they have what you're looking for.

also, some of those 4-packs are exclusive to places such as Toys r Us and Wal-Marts. Try your luck there.

Have fun on your trip and good luck on the merchandise hunting! Hopefully I'll be going with family to New York in the next coming year or so...and you bet I'll pick something Batman'ish there if only to be able to say "I got it in New York!"....even though Cali and NY should have the same things....*psst* go bug Nightwing while you're there!

Hey Disneyboy, good luck with your hunt, and have fun on your trip! I'd offer more advice, but I've never been to New York myself, so I don't know of any good places to find those items - unless eBay is an option you'd like to use.

Howdy,

Welcome to New York. Now go home :).

No, seriously, we're mostly friendly, and can use all the tourist dollars we can get these days. These are a few places you can go for your comic-related toy needs:

- Toys 'R Us: There's a monstrous one in Times Square (42nd St & Broadway), which I think is a little disappointing, as far as selection goes. However, it's worth going to if you're in the Times Square vicinity for other stuff. Otherwise, I know there's another one in Union Square (14th and Broadway) which we like better.

- I'll second the recommendation for Midtown Comics, which is at 40th St. between 7th and 8th Aves. Be careful going up the stairs. Toys are on the 2nd floor of the store. Excellent selection, good prices. You can scout using their website. Easily within striking distance of the Times Square TrU.

- I would avoid the KB Toy store in NYC because it really sucks, but if you must, they're in the Manhattan Mall at Herald Square (34th St. & Broadway), on the 1st floor (which is actually below ground, near the subway entrances). They might have some old stuff lying around for cheap, but that's about all I can recommend them for.

- Forbidden Planet is at 13th St. & Broadway, just south of the Virgin Megastore in Union Square (and within striking distance of the Union Square Toys 'R Us -- nice how that works, isn't it?). One of the best comic shops in the City (probably right behind Midtown, IMO). They have a pretty odd selection of toys, so you may not find much of what you're looking for.

- St. Marks Comics is at St. Marks Place between 3rd and 4th Avenues. This is your stereotypical cramped, dusty comic store staffed by slightly weird people, but the selection is good and they have a fair number of toys in the back room. This is a few blocks down from Forbidden Planet (walk South down Broadway, turn left at Astor Place/8th Street). Also a really good place for comics -- I think they may have even more TPBs than Midtown. They have another branch in Manhattan, but I'm not positive where it is.

- Village Comics is at 214 Sullivan Street (Yahoo map here (http://maps.yahoo.com/py/maps.py?BFCat=&Pyt=Tmap&newFL=Use+Address+Below&addr=214+Sullivan+Street&csz=New+York%2C+NY&Country=us&Get%A0Map=Get+Map)), south of Washington Square Park/NYU. I've only been there once or twice, and remember that they're even weirder than St. Marks, but I did buy some stuff from them on eBay, and their flyer seems to show a lot of toys (mostly those Dragon military figures, but they might have some Bat stuff).

- If you're going to be down by Ground Zero during your trip, there's a nice little shop on Maiden Lane and Broadway called Chameleon Comic. It's a cramped little storefront packed to the gills with comics and sports cards, but they have some toys behind the counter and on the walls.

- If you happen to be in my neck of the woods (Brooklyn Heights, just across the Brooklyn Bridge from Manhattan), St. Marks has a branch out here on Montague Street called Metro Comics. Lots and lots of toys all over the place, but probably even dustier than the original St. Marks.

Hope this helps! Reply to this post or PM me if you have any other questions or anything. Happy hunting!
